Emily's POV:

I haven't been out of my room all day. After my fight with Sky, I broke. I literally just sat in my room and cried. I think about Cole and all I can wonder is what would have happened if I just hadn't gone to the mall that day.

*flashback*

"C'mon Sky. We need to get some converses to go with that outfit. I say as I drag Sky out of Forever 21. "Do we have to." Sky whines to me. She's not really the "shopping type." She would rather just read and never go out. Weird, right? "Yes, we do have to go. You can't just NOT get matching shoes. I mean like that's the first rule of fashion. ALWAYS MATCH." I explained to her. "Yeah, whatever. Let me just go get a pretzel real quick. Do you want one?" Sky asks while pulling out her wallet. "Nah, I good, but hurry up," I say. She walks off and I go sit and wait in the food court. I see someone approach me and I realize that it's Cole. "Hey, you're Emily, right?" Cole asks. "Ummm. Yeah. How do you know this?" I ask slightly curious. I mean, why was he talking to ME. He has a girlfriend. "Oh, Sky talks about you a lot. I just wanted to see how you were doing." Cole says, sitting down next to me. "I'm good. But, I must ask, why are you really here." I say, suspicious. I mean, I'm not complaining because I've liked Cole for like 3 years, but still. He has a girlfriend. MY BEST friend, actually. "I wanted to ask if you would like to accompany me to the carnival tomorrow. I mean as just friends, of course," says Cole with a wink. "Ummm, I'll have to pass. You have a girlfriend, remember." I say determined not to ruin my friendship. "Yeah, I know, butttt I said as friends. Can you just think about it?" I don't know how, but he found a pen and paper, which he used to write down his number. Cole continues. "Here, take my number. We'll keep in touch. OH, look here comes Sky now." Sky approaches, pretzel in hand and immediately hugs Cole. "Hey, what brings you here?" Sky questions. "Oh, I was just here, and I wanted to see who my girlfriend's best friend was," says Cole with a smile. "Yep, exactly," I say with a big ol fake smile. "Think about it," Cole says as he points at me and walks away. As soon as Cole is out of hearing distance, Sky asks "What was he talking about?" "Oh, nothing important." I lie. "OH, okay. Wanna go get those shoes now." Sky says reluctantly. "Yes, absolutely," I say as I look at the piece of paper with Cole's number on it. What was I getting myself into?
