Ch 20
A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you guys liked the last chapter. So Hermione's crimes have been finally revealed, and in case anyone didn't understand what Adam suggested her to do, he told her ask Kingsley to remove two crimes out of the report, as because of the new laws that had been made, they weren't categorised as crimes anymore. Read the A/N at the end to find out when the next chapter will be out. On with the chapter!
One year and three months later....
June 2007
Hermione Granger yawned as she opened the door of the house. Entering inside, she saw the lights were dim, meaning a two year old girl had gone to sleep and a wizard would either be in his study or in the library.
But that wasn't actually correct.
After dropping her bag on the couch, she removed her heels and walked barefooted into the kitchen, all the while trying to remove her bracelet from her wrist.
The charms hanging from the chain had gotten stuck in the hook, again, and she just couldn't remove it, by the muggle way that is. She didn't like using magic for such mundane tasks.
"Did you have a long day at work?"
Hermione, who still hadn't taken her eyes off the bracelet, jumped upon hearing the voice. His voice.
"What are you doing here?" She asked him.
He crossed his arms in front of him, and leaned against the counter. "I was playing Quidditch. Why?"
She rolled her eyes at him. "Quidditch? Really? You remembered we talked about not playing that stupid game outside the house, Draco, right? Not inside. And do you even remember what happened the last time you tried playing it here? You broke Narcissa's favourite vase which she had accidentally forgotten here when she had brought it to show me her collection, and I was supposed to return it to her the next day, plus I couldn't even repair it. You faced her wrath that day, and I don't think you will like to face mine today."
He too rolled his eyes and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Relax, Granger. I was just joking. I was just putting a warming charm on the leftover food. I knew you wouldn't have eaten anything at the Ministry, so I thought I would do you a favor."
"Aren't you a thoughtful person, huh?" She grinned at him. "But seriously, it's past midnight, Draco, you should have gone to sleep."
He sighed. "Haven't you ever learnt to just appreciate something and not overthink too much? Besides, I told you that I have to write some reports today, so I was bound to stay awake till late. Now go and freshen up while I set dinner."
Hermione shot him a grateful look, and after squeezing his hand, she did as he instructed. When she came back, he took her hand in his when he saw she was still struggling to remove the bracelet he had given her all those years back.
"It is called magic, Granger, magic. Surely you know something about that." He used a spell to solve her probelm and smirked at her.
A few minutes later, as she was eating dinner, Draco went to the library, and came back with a book in his hand.
"Potter sent me a letter today. Apparently McGonagall had decided to have a Ball at Hogwarts this year, a few days before the graduation ceremony. He asked me if we could help him to take care of a few things?"
"What is the Ball about? Anything new?" She asked as she finished her dinner and stood up from her chair to put the dishes in the sink.
"Yeah." He nodded. "Some sixth years found a book about the First Wizarding War, and there was a line, 'There were some secret saviours who helped the Order to win the War, but had to sacrifice themselves in order to not let Voldemort win,' which intrigued them. They asked McGonagall about it, and she decided to host a Ball in their honour, and let the world know the price they paid."
"So how did Harry get to know about that?"
Draco hesitated for a second, and then said, "She contacted Potter to ask if we all could help her and attend the Ball as well. Potter suggested that we even include the people who helped in the Second Wizarding War. He asked me if I could speak about Regulus, considering he is related to me, and he would be speaking about Sirius. And he told me to ask you if you would be willing to speak about some of the people who fought for the good side in the Battle of Hogwarts."
She took his hand in hers, and squeezed it. "Of course, I would do that. But, are you sure you want to do this, Draco? I know how much you hate giving speeches, specially a one which you can't copy from a book or something."
He nodded. "I will-I have to do this. Sirius was my first cousin once removed, and I regret that I never got to meet him-"
"You did." She interjected. "Remember how you told me that once a dog bit your leg when you were roaming around in Hogsmeade during third year?" When he nodded, she said, "It was actually Sirius, he told us about that later."
Draco sighed. "Seems like most of my family members chose to be on Potter's side over mine. I mean, just see Sirius, I know he was Potter's godfather, but I was his family. And then Andromeda. Yes, she was disowned but even after the war, she didn't try contacting me once and ignored me every time I saw her. If it weren't for you, I don't think she would have ever talked with me and allow me to visit Teddy. And lastly, Tonks. I mean I get that Potter had the right to become Teddy's godfather, and Remus and Tonks had no reason to even consider me for that position for even a second, but it just... I know it's stupid to think about that consider I didn't deserve to be with him because of everything that had happened, and what I did, but it just hurts, you know? It hurts how close Potter and well you all are with my family whereas I didn't even get the chance to at least have a talk with some of them, even once. It hurts and I hate how pathetic I sound right now."
Hermione smiled at him, and rested her head on his shoulder. "It's not stupid, Draco, you are allowed to think about that. I know it hurts, and I hate that you never got that chance, you didn't deserve that. And you don't sound pathetic, don't worry. You were just- well, I guess whatever you got, and what you didn't wasn't because of something you did. It was the consequences of what other people did and thought, and moreover, how nobody even tried to fix the damage that had been done years ago before we were even born. But I am grateful that at least we got the chance to grow past our rivalry, even if we spent years hating each other."
Draco nodded. "Yeah well we are off topic now. As I was saying before you oh so graciously interrupted me, I never got the chance to meet Sirius, properly, mind you, and since I can't do anything for him, I will at least do something for Regulus. He is misunderstood by so many people, they think he is bad even though he died for not letting Voldemort succeed. So if those people start appreciating me just by a speech, I am willing to do it."
Hermione smiled at her best friend. It still amazed her how far he had come. How much he had matured. And how much he had grown since they were children, from being the person who once had to join the death eaters under duress, to a person who now did everything he could to catch them, without caring about his life for even a second.
She knew it wasn't easy for him to talk about his feelings, emotions, and thoughts. She was lucky to be one of those whom he considered trustworthy so he could talk freely with them. It wasn't easy for him, and yet he was willing to give that speech.
Hermione was proud of Draco, and nobody and nothing could change her mind.
A few minutes later, as Draco was reading a book about The Black Family, Hermione finished the list about the people she was going to speak about. "Here, look at this list." She gave the said item to him.
"Oliver Wood... Colin Creevey... Lavender Brown..." Draco stopped as he read the next name on the list.
Draco Lucius Malfoy
"Wha-what is the reason behind you writing my name on this?" He asked, turning around to face her.
"I had to write the names of the people who fought for the good side and so that's what I did." She shrugged.
Draco thought she was crazy, really.
"Are you mad?" He exclaimed. "I didn't fight for the good side, Granger. I was a death eater. Remember?"
"One would think he would stop calling me Granger by now." Hermione muttered, but when he simply glared at her, she continued, "You never wanted to be a death eater, Draco, you wanted to fight for the good side. And you helped us during the war, in the Room Of Requirement. Also, don't think that I had forgotten about you helping a few first years escape who had been trapped in the castle, and also fighting a few death eaters."
"That doesn't matter, Granger. The point is that I was a death eater. I led death eaters in the castle. And I nearly killed Dumbledore."
She sighed, her best friend was too stubborn for his own good. "Firstly, you had to become a death eater, it was never your choice to be one. Secondly, you led them inside the castle because you had to, it was Voldemort's order to do that. Thirdly, yes, you almost killed him but you did lower your wand at the last moment, when it mattered the most."
"I hate that he didn't offer his help to me sooner. I know Severus wanted to help me, but at that point, I had wanted to join the good side, and I hadn't had a clue about him being a double agent. And, I just couldn't have gone to Dumbledore and asked for help, right? For all I know, he would have turned me over to the Ministry, or refused to help me. And anyways, I wasn't afraid about what he would do to me, I was scared for my parents, and I knew there was no way Dumbledore could guarantee their safety. It's not like he ever gave me a reason to trust him, of course, he always favored the Gryffindors over Slytherins."
Hermione didn't know what to say to him. She knew he was right. Perhaps if some people had treated him better, then their world would not have still hated him. "That's the reason I am going to speak about you, Draco. I want to let people know just how good you are. I want them to treat you like how you deserve to be treated, okay?"
He knew it was pointless to argue with her. To convince her otherwise. To tell her that people won't like the fact that she was defending him, and would instead target her.
Specially that bug Rita freaking Skeeter.
So, he just nodded and started reading his book again. As he was making notes for his speech, Hermione cleared her throat. "You know Draco, I think you are just like Regulus."
He raised his eyebrows at her. "And pray tell how exactly that is, dear Granger?"
"You both are misunderstood. You both were born into families that supported Voldemort, and joining him was ultimately an important step in your life. While joining him may have been Regulus' choice, it wasn't yours. But at the end, you both realised what was right, and stood up for it. He died while doing something to prevent Voldemort from succeeding. And you didn't care about yourself when you gave Harry your wand, you were practically defenceless but still you chose to help us. But still, even after all of that, most of the people don't really know what all you two did in order to help us defeat Voldemort. They owe their lives to you two. That's why you two are so similar, Draco. You both learnt from your mistakes, and that is not an easy thing to do."
Hermione was surprised when Draco didn't argue with her monologue. Preparing to give him another explanation if he said anything about how he was bad and all that stuff, she turned around to face him.
She could do nothing but blink when she took in the sight in front of her.
Draco Malfoy, her best friend and the person about whom she had just given a speech, was sleeping soundly all the while resting his head on one of his hands which was lying on top of the table.
Hermione sighed but chuckled a moment later. "Trust him to fall asleep while I was just talking about something very important. But then again, he was never the one to like History, and he hates listening to speeches as well."
She grabbed the book which was lying under his hand, and closed it. As she kept her list inside the book, she gasped when she glanced at the clock. "Merlin, it's one o'clock already? No wonder he was so tired that he fell asleep right now."
Hermione wanted to take a picture. Draco looked just so adorable while sleeping like that. Gone was the cold look in his eyes which he had when he was in public.
He looked so vulnerable, peaceful, calm right now.
But she knew how much irritated he would get if he knew she had taken his picture. Oh how she wished she could take his picture, if only she had the camera with her.
Shaking her head, she cast a weightless charm on him, so that it would be easier to take him to his bedroom.
Draco had complained several times before how he hated it when someone used levitation charm on him, as he had fallen asleep in weird places so many times, and Hermione had to use Wingardium Leviosa on him to levitate him to his bedroom. According to him his body felt weird when he would wake up after a few hours.
And well also because he had heard what had happened to Snape when he had been levitated during their third year when the Trio had discovered the truth about Sirius Black.
Carefully, she placed one of his arms around her shoulders, and wrapped her arm around his waist. She slowly helped him to his feet, and walked towards the stairs. Now that was another problem.
Sighing, she took a step forward and somehow managed to climb up the stairs with Draco by her side. How she wished she could have just apparated upstairs, but the wards Draco had both in and around his home prevented anyone from apparating in his house after midnight.
As she gently laid him down on his bed, she couldn't help but smile as she heard him snoring softly.
Even though Draco knew he snored, he denied doing that whenever she confronted him about his habit. And he never wanted to fight with her over such childish things.
Hermione tucked the blanket around him, and brushed his fringe away from his forehead. "I wish you will treat yourself better, Draco. You are a good man. And it's time you finally start believing it."
Whispering good night to him, and left his room and closed the door behind her. After quickly checking if Athena was sleeping nicely, she went to her room, her mind on the speeches she had to give.
----------
He sighed as he looked at the photo frame in his hands. They were happy, so happy but just one decision had changed their lives.
He wished he could look at their photo albums as he kept the frame aside. if he couldn't meet him ever again, at least he could see his photos. Their photos.
But of course, it wasn't possible. Those albums were at his home, and he couldn't go there until he fulfilled his important mission.
His mother had no idea about where he was.
And his father... well he knew why he had run away from his house three years back, but due to being under a wizard's oath, he couldn't tell anyone without his permission.
Oh how he wished he could return home. Hug his mother and tell her that he was alright. Play golf again with his father and tell him that he missed him.
But no pain no gain, right?
He knew it just wasn't possible to go back to his home, to catch even one glimpse of his parents, to visit his little sister and tell her that he wouldn't leave her ever again.
His laughter was filled with sadness when he thought about his little sister. Well she wasn't so little anymore. Last he had heard, she was engaged to his best friend. When he had heard about that happy news in a pub his best friend's brother owned, he had smiled to himself.
He had always known that his best friend loved his sister, and also, he had a suspicion that his sister had felt something for him as well.
Oh how he wished he could just go back to his home and threaten his best friend to kill him in case he ever made his sister shed even a single tear.
He shook his head as he laid down on his bed. He wished his mission would just get over soon. It would have gotten completed three years ago, if it weren't for that wizard to disrupt his plans.
The wizard being Draco Malfoy.
If that git would have just been even a second late, he would have managed to do what he wanted to, he would avenged his brother's death.
But no, the blonde wizard had to come and play hero and save his so called best friend.
Honestly, he wasn't even sure if they were just friends. Before he had managed to capture her, he had gathered as much information about her as he could, and he had discovered that The Brightest Witch Of Her Age had feelings for Draco, but he had married some other girl.
A Love Triangle.
He had wondered whether or not he could use that little information to his advantage. Perhaps taunt either Hermione or Draco about it. But the wizard had proven stronger than he had ever given him credit for.
Not only he had managed to control himself and not give in to his taunts,, he had also saved Hermione.
Like a hero.
But that was the job of Harry James Potter, wasn't it?
He was the one who always played the role of a hero whenever something had happened, not giving a damn about his own life.
But this time his enemy Draco had done that said job.
Figures, he had thought at that time, Draco had always been jealous of Harry, for having everything he didn't- real friends, people who loved him, and the ones who would guide him towards the good side.
But Draco didn't. He just had the opposite of all those things. And he hated Harry because of that, well also because Harry had rejected his offer of friendship.
Draco being protective of Hermione could also be the reason he had come to save her without caring about himself.
His brother, when he had worked in Hogsmeade during their eighth year, had told him how Draco had almost punched a few people when they had said a few nasty words to Hermione.
As he once again took the photo frame in his hands, he wished he could go back home and tell his parents about his mission.
Oh how he wished he could tell them that he had done what his brother would have wanted him to do.
But he knew it was a lie.
His brother was one of the kindest people he had ever known. That boy was like a Hufflepuff, well they hadn't gone to Hogwarts, but if they would have, he had no doubt that his brother would have been in that house.
But he had to do it.
His brother had meant the world to him. And then that Granger girl had killed him. He would never forgive her for doing this.
He knew if his parents and his sister got to know that he had wanted to kill her, they wouldn't approve of this.
That was the reason he had run away from there.
He had waited for years for Hermione to come back to England, and when she had finally done, he had managed to make her like him.
If she hadn't killed his brother, he would have liked her. Really. She was the type of girl who was kind, brave and easy to like.
But alas, he had come here for his mission, and so that's what he would do.
He hadn't managed to get her alone for the last three years as Draco had increased the security around her and his house.
But everyone makes a mistake, and everyone messes up.
So when Hermione will make a mistake, or Draco will mess up, he would be there to take his revenge.
Carl Roger would take his revenge.
----------
"What are you doing here, death eater?"
Lucius sighed as he continued walking. He knew that if he turned around and said something, it would only get worse.
"Point your wand in front of yourself, everyone. We all know perfectly well what this scum is capable of. Protect yourselves, everyone!"
He wanted to roll his eyes at them. Did they really think if he wanted to curse someone he would do that in front of everyone? And they called themselves smart.
"Hey, I saw Narcissa entering a shop there, someone drag her out here and tell her to take her crazy husband away."
Alright, that was the limit. He didn't care what the people called him. But the tone in which they were talking about his wife, he won't handle that.
"Just call Harry-"
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" A certain witch yelled at them.
Everyone turned around in shock to see none other than Hermione glaring at them. Without giving them a chance to answer, she used Silencio on all of them, and quickly made her way towards Lucius. The said wizard, too, was looking at her in shock.
Pointing her wand at her neck, she cast Sonorous on herself, and looked at everyone. "I know you all can undo the spell right away, but if you respect me, you will at least listen to me."
She hated using the War Heroine title, but this time, it was necessary.
"This man, right here is not a death eater anymore, as you so eloquently called him. Or should I say shouted at him." She quickly looked at Lucius, and then back at everyone. "The war has been over for nine years, but still the prejudices are going on. No, I am not only talking about the prejudice against Muggle borns, but also the prejudice towards former death eaters. And also towards the people who didn't ever want to be a part of Voldemort's army, but they had to. Though they still helped the people on the good side."
"The Wizengamot did declare him guilty, yes, I am not denying that. He was given a punishment, and he completed it as well. He also invested his money in the rebuilding of the Diagon Alley after the war. Today, as I saw you all harassing an innocent man, and talking ill about his wife as well, who mind you, saved Harry Potter's life, I realised how we still haven't moved on in our lives. And do you know how pathetic that is? Not only he, but many other people suffer this treatment everyday. Draco, who is one of the best Aurors here, gets bullied so many times everyday. He doesn't think before risking his life for you all, but the same people are not ready to let go of the past. We all have suffered during the war, each and everyone. And we all deal with it differently. But that doesn't mean harming, or even thinking about doing that to anyone is justifiable. How are we supposed to live in peace when this happens everyday? You might want to get revenge by hurting him, but it won't accomplish anything. I was tortured in his house, and if I had wanted, I would have taken my revenge. Because it would not change a single thing. It wouldn't change the past, but it will surely affect my future. In a bad way. The guilt would not let me live peacefully, the hatred will continue to disrupt my life, and lastly, anger would be the end of me. What I am trying to say is, revenge wouldn't get us anywhere. It wouldn't help us, not now, not ever. So I request you all to get over that idea, and not only let Lucius, but everyone who was not on the good side of the war, live a life without the fear of getting cursed every time. And if anyone still hurts him despite him doing nothing wrong, then I will make sure that the person would receive the punishment they deserve."
Everyone looked down at the ground, feeling ashamed of their actions. Sighing, Hermione removed the spell she had cast, but continued clutching it. She wouldn't let anyone harm an innocent man.
Slowly but eventually, everyone made their way towards the shops they had come out of, or did whatever they were doing before this drama started.
Lucius was still looking at her in shock.
He couldn't believe she stood up for him. The girl whose kind he hated. The girl he had called a mudblood several times.
"Are you alright?" Hermione asked him.
Shocked, he nodded. So now she was looking at him in concern. Was all of this really happening?
Or was it a very, very strange dream?
He pinched his arm, and the pain he felt confirmed that it was a reality. He wasn't dreaming. Hermione had really saved him from a bunch of angry witches and wizards.
"Oh well then..." She put her wand away. "I will just go and do my work. Wait- it's lunch time already. No wonder I am famished."
Just as she was about to walk away, Lucius called her.
But not by using that derogatory word.
"Uhh Miss Granger, may I treat you to lunch? As a thank you for saving me." He spoke quickly. Hermione looked at him in shock.
"No no no, you don't have to. It's completely fine. I will just-"
"Please I insist."
Hermione sighed and nodded, walking towards a nearby cafe. As they sat down, Hermione called Narcissa to inform where she was.
She couldn't wait to see her reaction when she would get to know what had happened.
After they had ordered their lunch, they sat in an awkward and uncomfortable silence. A few minutes later, Lucius cleared his throat. "Miss Granger, I must thank you for doing that and speaking all those words."
"You don't have to." She muttered.
He raised his eyebrows at her. Hermione continued, "I mean, you don't have to do this. Act nice and everything. I know you hate me and think I am inferior to you-"
"I was wrong." He admitted. "I was clearly very wrong about that. You are better than I thought you was. Honestly, you didn't have to defend me. You didn't gain anything by doing that. If you would have wanted, you could have cursed me and no one would have batted an eyelash. Clearly, I deserve that after the way I have treated you."
"You are an innocent man, you didn't deserve to be treated like that."
He laughed mirthlessly. "I had thought that. That was the reason I came out here today. My probation just ended yesterday. Till nine years I couldn't leave my house alone. Even in France, I had to be accompanied by someone. But I became a free man yesterday, so I decided to come here. Apparently, I hadn't taken people's action in consideration."
"Look Miss Granger, I want to be clear about something. I hate your kind, for reasons you don't know, but that doesn't mean the way I treated you was right. You didn't deserve any of that. For Salazar's sake, I told my son to throw you out, and when he didn't, I ruined his life, even if Narcissa told me so many times not to."
"I don't expect you to forgive me, or even accept my apology. But I have to say this, I was wrong about you. I had let one incident dictate my view on your kind, and hence do all of those things. You saved my life, and for that I will owe you forever. I know it shouldn't have taken me this to realise that I was wrong about you, but I am a stubborn man and I don't admit that I am wrong easily. My wife knows that clearly. But for what is worth, I am really sorry for the way I treated you, Miss Granger."
Hermione looked at the man in front of her. While he didn't say muggle borns, not once had used that filthy word either. Besides, she didn't believe in holding grudges.
"I accept your apology, Mr Malfoy." She slowly said. "I don't know what your reasons were, but I truly hope that they are not related to blood purity thing. I meant what I said outside, I will not tolerate any kind of prejudice."
Before he could answer, the door opened, and Narcissa walked towards them. "Sorry I am late. I was shopping with Minerva, and lost track of time. I came as soon as we paid the bill."
Hermione smiled as the older witch sat down. "Where is she, by the way? I would love to meet her. It's been so long."
"Unfortunately she had to go back to Hogwarts. She only came here because she wanted to buy a few robes for the Ball. She could only get a free time of six hours?"
"You have been shopping for the past six hours?" Lucius asked her.
"Yes, do you have any problem?" She narrowed her eyes at him. "Would you like to say anything on that matter?"
He quickly shook his head. "Oh not at all, dear. It was just a simple question. You can shop all day if you want. I won't stop you."
Lucius didn't want to face her wrath by upsetting her.
"As if you could stop me." Narcissa huffed. "Anyways, so what all happened outside? What did I miss?"
They filled her in as they ate lunch. When the bill came, Lucius quickly paid for it before Hermione even had the chance to look at it. He also gave them a few extra galleons for not letting any reporter come and spy on them.
"Miss Granger, please don't mention this lunch to my son. I have ignored him for more than a year, and I wouldn't like it if he heard I was having lunch here with you after mistreating you. He already hates me, but I want to see him and apologise. I plan on coming to his house in a few day, and explain everything to him. And then if he still doesn't want me there, then I will leave."
Hermione nodded. "I understand. But you should do it soon. And I suggest you be honest about everything to him."
As Hermione left, Narcissa told her husband, "I think it is time you tell Draco why you really hate muggle borns. And if you don't, then I will. He deserves to know this."
----------
"So how did the lunch go?"
Narcissa looked up from her spell book and smiled at her best friend. Standing up, she greeted her as she walked inside the library.
"How are you?" She asked as she hugged McGonagall.
"I am good." McGonagall said as she pulled away from the hug, and sat down next to her friend on the couch. "What are you doing?"
"Oh nothing special. I was just going through this book. It has a lot of useful spells that I haven't heard about before, you know?"
"Do you mind if I take a look at this? Maybe it will make my job as a Headmistress easier. Merlin knows that even if the Weasleys twins have left Hogwarts, their mischievousness hasn't. And your son and his two best friends only added on to that."
Narcissa chuckled as she passed the book to her friend. "Just you wait until James goes to Hogwarts. That boy is exactly like his namesake. Plus, our Athy is his partner in crime."
"I know, I saw how he behaves around her. Those two are the best of friends despite the two year age gap. Godric knows what will happen if those two end up in the same house."
"I don't know about that." Narcissa shrugged. "James is definitely going to be in Gryffindor, there is no doubt that. And as for Athy, Draco is convinced that she is going to be in Slytherin. I, on the other hand, have a different view."
McGonagall laughed. "I know perfectly well which house you want her in. Anyways how is Athy? Is she still a Daddy's girl?"
"Oh of course." She smiled. "And Draco loves that too much. That's another reason why he believes she will be a Slytherin. She is literally his carbon copy, not only she looks like him, but her personality is exactly the same as well."
"And what about Astoria?" McGonagall asked. "How is she?"
"She is good. Athy talks to her everyday, she is still too young to realise that Astoria is not really there with her. A year ago, she would throw a tantrum every time she asked Astoria to hold her, but of course, she wasn't able to. I don't know what Draco and her told Athy, but now... Well, she doesn't do that anymore. Do you know I saw Astoria crying after Athy had fallen asleep in front of her? To be so close to her, yet not being able to touch her." Narcissa sighed. "Sometimes she isn't even sure whether hanging her portrait there was a good idea or not. It hurts her so much. And Draco too. Once I had seen him sitting next to her portrait, his hand touching hers in the picture. But thankfully Hermione was there for them. After Lucius' letter, we went back to France, and just returned a month back. If she wasn't there, then I don't know how Draco would have coped with all of this. Hermione is definitely a blessing for all of us."
McGonagall nodded, thinking about the ex Gryffindor witch. Even during their eighth year, when everybody had shunned Draco, Hermione had been there for him.
She was glad to know that she had made the right decision by making them the Heads.
"Anyways," She broke the silence, "I wanted to ask if you would help me look for a Charms Professor Assistant? Or perhaps you would like to have that position? You know my offer still stands."
"I know," Narcissa said, "But you know I won't be able to. Besides, the students wouldn't like me teaching them. And we both know that if I take that position, we would spend hours in your office, instead of doing our jobs."
McGonagall couldn't argue with her. She knew her best friend was right. "So... a few days back, I got the idea of something."
"And what exactly is that?"
"The idea of opening Mini Hogwarts, for children under the age of eleven." McGonagall told her.
------
Hermione sighed as someone knocked on the door of her office. There went the idea of her spending a peaceful afternoon.
Harry entered her office, and closed the door behind him.
But neither of them noticed a bug following him as well.
He looked at her in a strange way and sat down.
"What?" She asked him.
"Let us talk about Draco Malfoy." Harry told her. Before she could interrupt him, he added, "More specifically about you and him."
