Christina's POV

It's been a week since I had that phone conversation with that devil of a man and since then he hasn't done any attempt to contact. 

God knows where that idiot is! 

Everyday I ask Liam about him and his never changing assurance, "He's alright and be back soon, don't worry" now began to irritate me. I mean seriously, no one literally no one cares about my damn concern towards that dump man. I agree he hasn't been good to me recently, but I still care for some really mysterious reasons. 

He has never been "good" to you girl! My subconscious mocks. 

My life hasn't change a bit in his absence, all the same house chores and sitting idly waiting for him to come home. But there is something additional or it should be someone in my boring daily cycle now, it's actually Lily. She is such a sweetheart. She has been filling the void in my life and makes me smile heartily. Within a few days, I'm got so attached her that I don't think I can live far from her. 

Seeing her, being with her makes me often wonder how it to have a family of my own one day in the future, but looking at my current  situation I give up the hope about that future because I really don't think I can ever have a normal, proper family. My husband hates me for some of his ridiculously unknown reasons and I'm too not so fond of him.

Hopeless case is it for me!

Having all these thoughts, I descending downstairs for making breakfast when I missed a stair, encountering a great clumsy fall in the broad daylight, and it gains a sprain in my left ankle. 

Bravo girl!

"Are you alright?" Liam rushes over the stair case with a concern look.

"Yeah I'm all good, just a little sprain on my ankle. Ouch!" I whimper as I'm trying to get up.

"What happened to Ina, dadda?" Lily innocently question.

"Nothing sunshine, I just slip from the stairs." I reply.

"Sweetie, help Christina to her room now, can you?" Liam asks. 

"No worries dadda, Lily is here to save the day." Her naive statement makes us laugh. 

This girl is really smart for her age. 

With her help, I come to my room and apply spray for the sprain ankle. 

"Does it hurt much, Ina? " Lily is worried.

"No sunshine, I'll be fine soon." I kiss her chubby cheeks. 

I'm about to get up from the bed when Liam appears in my room and restricts me to step out, saying "Your husband will kill me if anything happens to you."

"He won't even care me being hurt, so not be alarmed." I reply.

"You never know." He says, "Anyways I've certain news for you, but don't get too excited." He warns. 

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion. 

"First you don't need to do any chores from now on as boss arranged maids and second he permits you go and work again in the pastry shop." His words widens my eyes me.

"Tell me you're not kidding. Did he really say that?" I ask to be sure enough. 

"Yes, he did and now I need you to rest and we can go tomorrow, okay." He murmurs. 

"No, please can we visit in the evening? It's been so long I don't see granny and Mia. Please, please." I beg.

He chuckles and finally agrees. 

God I'm so happy today. I'm feeling like to dance and jump in the air. Today is certainly my ugly stars got replaces by lucky ones. I'm finally meeting granny and Mia. 

The time doesn't seems to budge. It's still 2 in the afternoon. I restlessly wait for the sun to go down and I'll go and meet them. 

At last, it's time. Jeez it appears to me like a decade of wait. I hurriedly get ready and run to garage where Liam and Lily are waiting for me. After an hour of drive, we arrive at the shop.

"Granny!" I yell, entering into the shop. 

The expression of hers, seeing me is priceless. I can tell she so pleased to see me. She hugs me for a certain good time. Suddenly her eyes become teary. 

"Granny why are you crying? Please don't cry." I wipe her tears.

"These are happy tears dear." She chuckles. 

"I love you granny." I place a kiss on her right cheek and introduce her to Liam and my sunshine. 

"Granny, is Mia where?" I ask.

"In the kitchen dear." She replies.

I head for the kitchen to surprise Mia, but instead I'm the one who got surprised. Alex is caging her between him and the counter. His once iron crisp suit is now covered with flour and Mia is no differ. The entire kitchen is a gigantic mess. There is flour everywhere and some cutleries lying here and there.  It's like they just had a flour and cutlery fight.

But that's not the concern. The main question is what's Alex doing here? They both are so drown into each other's eyes that they didn't realize my presence yet. 

"Ahem!" I pretend to cough to get their attention. 

Alex and Mia jerk off hearing me. They look dumbfounded and only I know how I suppress my laugh seeing their nervous expressions. 

"Why you guys are having the "being caught stealing cookies from the cookie jar" type of facial looks" I try to sound casual.

"It's n-nothing like a-as it seems, Chris." Mia's stuttering confirm my doubt. 

There must be something going on between these two. 

"I-I think should l-leave now." Alex stumbles and before taking a step to leave, he whispers something into Mia's ear which makes her slightly shiver. 

"Oh no no, no one is leaving before giving me a good explanation about this scene." I point my index finger towards them and the kitchen.

"Mia will fill in the gaps for you, won't you babe?" Alex smirks, "And I really I've to leave now sweetheart, and it's good to see you" He hugs me and winks at Mia before leaving. 

"Now..." I say raising my eyebrows.

She mumbles something beneath her breath.

Taking a deep breath, she sit down on the floor and pats on the floor indicating me to sit as well. 

"He had been that part of my life which I haven't spoken about to anyone or should I say I never have the guts to mention him because I breakdown even at the slightest reminder of him." Her tears are freely falling and her lips are trembling. "We used to know each other since we're kids. We grew up together being each other's best friend and when this friendship turned into love, we didn't realized. I was so young and he was seventeen back then when a tornado catastrophe everything and broke us apart. He blames me for everything, he hates me, Chris he hates me." She break into tears and tightly hugs me. 

"Shh everything is gonna be fine." I try to console her.

Her crying doesn't show any sign to stop, so let her cry on my shoulder. After sometime she puts herself together and wipes tears from her face. 

"You don't need to tell me the entire story, Mia. It's your personal space. But whatever happened I'm sure you aren't to be blamed for that. Just try to explain him and remember communication can erase tons of misunderstandings in the blink of an eye. Now, wipe these tears and come out I've some guests out." I smile.

Getting Mia out of the kitchen I find granny coming towards us. 

" Oh I'm so sorry, I forgot to mention Mia has a visitor. I'm sorry Mia." Granny apologizes. 

"No granny it's alright." Mia replies.

The rest of the evening goes on well and we all have dinner together at the shop. Granny's dishes are to die for.  Bidding them goodbyes, Liam drives us back to home. 

I prepare Lily for the bed and also I freshen up. Tonight I'll be sleeping peacefully. 

After two weeks

Everything is going fine but just one problem as the maids are here now, I don't get to do anything in the mansion. I get ready and exist my room. I'm in the hallway when I remember I haven't tied my hair. So I take all my hair and begin to make a bun. Unfortunately, my beads bracelet gets stuck with my hair and upon my trying to detangle it, I tear it and the  beads shattered all over the floor. 

Damn it! 

I start collecting them but it's so difficult. Some beads have gone into a room under through the gap of the door. This room is Nicklaus's study. 

Shit! What do I do now? 

I don't have the keys. How I'm gonna take them out? Oh wait! Liam must has the keys. I should go and ask him about it.

"Liam I need a help." I find him in the garden with Lily. "I actually need the keys of Nicklaus's study, my bead bracelet broke so some of them gone into his room. I promise I won't touch anything." I say.

"Okay but don't get much curious and touch anything, just take your beads out and then hand over the keys to me." He says. 

Taking the keys I unlock the study and reach the switch board. Even in the morning his study is pitch black. After a good struggle, finding the switch I turn on the lights and the aura of the room makes me feel his presence. Anyways, keeping his thoughts aside I'm about collect the beads with the lights goes off.

What the hell man! 

I come out of the room and see the entire mansion's lights is gone. It must a power cut. Now how the hell I'm gonna gather the beads. Slowly, I come out to the garden and tell Liam about the power cut. He immediately goes to check the main power box. After a minute or two the lights come back. 

I go back to his study and find Jenny near the room. Her being here I find it a bit of out place.

"What are you doing here, Jenny?" I inquire. 

"M-ma'am, um I-I was looking for you, the power went off so I thought to inform you and in the dark I confused the area. Now if you excuse me ma'am I've to do the laundries." Saying it she ran off.  

Okay that was weird. Whatever paying no further heed to this matter, I finish my job and come out after properly locking the door. 

I hand over the keys to Liam and take Lily with me to the shop. Granny is really fond of her. Mia on the other gets a new job as a PA into some company, therefore can't visit the shop much often now. 

In the evening, I come out of the shop as Lily is demanding for ice cream and suddenly bump into someone. 

"I apologies, I didn't see you." A male voice says. 

"No no it's fine. Let me help you with the files." I collect scattered the papers and I hand over him his files. 

In the night nothing significant occurs but Liam is a little tensed about today's sudden power cut. He says someone purposely switched off the main electric board. This man thinks a lot even with the subtle issues. 

Three days after

However my days are passing Nicklaus's absence does pokes me now and then. I wrap up all the work for tonight at the shop. After dropping granny at Mia's place, Liam drives Lily and me at home. Liam parks the car in the garage and I carry Lily who has already fallen asleep.

"Christina, give me Lily I guess it's time for us to leave. Boss will be coming home soon." Liam informs.

"What! Can't you stay the night?" I'm really sad. 

"You don't need to miss us, we're just one call away. Goodnight and take care." He then goes with Lily. 

Sighing I head for the mansion, though all the lights in the mansion seems to be turned off. I open the door and step in.

"Welcome home, wifey." Nicklaus's deep voice cuts through the darkness and makes my heart jumps up in my chest.
