Chapter 9

I used the photo above as an idea for the venue

Marinette took another sip of her champagne as she looked around the ballroom. She felt a presence stand beside her and put his arm around her waist. She looked at the presence and laughed. "What does your father mean by 'nothing too big'?" She asked.

Adrien chuckled and also took a sip of his glass. "This, my love, this." Marinette laughed and leaned her head on his shoulder. "Well, It is really nice of him. I mean this place is gorgeous and everyone seems to be having a great time!" She explained to him. Adrien hummed in agreement before kissing the top of her head. "Have I told you already how beautiful you look tonight?" He whispered into her hair.

Marinette smiled and moved her head a little so she could place a kiss on his shoulder. "Yes, but thank you."

She wore a dress that she bought together with Alya. It rarely happened that she bought dresses since she loves to make them herself but since the engagement party was on such short notice, she decided not to stress herself and just buy a dress.

It was still beautiful tho. It was white and the length was just underneath her knee. It had a sweetheart neckline with thick straps. It fitted her perfectly and with her matching high heels, her outfit was on point.

He put a finger underneath her chin and placed a light kiss on her lips just before Nino and Alya came to them. "This place is so fancy. I feel out of place." Nino said as he played with the tie on his shirt. Alya slapped his hand away. "Stop fidgeting with your tie." She exclaimed before looking at the couple. "Can you believe that he was going to wear his hat here? Thank god I stopped that."

Adrien laughed and patted his best friend on his back. "Don't worry, dude. After this, we're going to a club and I promise you won't have to wear a tie there." He explained. Nino laid a hand on his chest and sighed out of relief. "Well thank god because this thing is annoying me so bad." He said, earning an obvious eye roll from his girlfriend.

Their conversation came to an end as Gabriel came towards the group and spoke to the couple. "Adrien, It's time for everyone to take place at the table and I'd like for you to give a speech. Please keep it appropriate." He said before walking away again. Adrien raised an eyebrow and took a sip of his drink before looking at his friends. "Well damn me, I was planning to talk about how sexy my fiancée looks when she's horn-ah!" He started but didn't finish because of the punch in his stomach from his lady.

"I was obviously kidding!" He defended himself as he threw up his hands in defense. Marinette crossed her arms in front of her chest. "I better hope so and still, don't say things like that at a place like this." She scolded him, disappointed.

Adrien scoffed and mirrored her stance. "Says the girls who wanted to have sex with me in the bathroom in one of the prestigious clubs in France." He smirked. Not only Marinette but also Alya and Nino gasped at that sentence. "Girl! You did what?"

"Damn, dudette. I'm in shock." Marinette glared at her fiancée. "You're a fucking bitch." She whispered to him. Adrien fakely gasped. "Princess! You can't say things like that at a place like this!" He shot back, the smirk on his face only growing more and more.

"You're so gonna pay for that." She said as she tried to contain the blush on her face. Adrien winked at her. "Oh, kinky." He joked before he placed his lips on hers again. It was short but long enough so he could feel her lightly smile underneath his lips.

He pulled away from her and grabbed her hand gently before they walked towards their seat. They sat down next to each other but Adrien got quickly thrown a microphone into his phone. He took a quick look at Marinette as she gave him a comforting and encouraging smile. He grabbed the microphone and stood up. He coughed nervously before he gathered everyone their attention.

"Hello everyone. First of all, thank you so much for coming. It means a lot to my beautiful fiancée and me." He said as he threw a quick wink at her. "I always have dreamed of getting married. Even when I was a little boy, I remember my mother showing me photos of her wedding with my father. I told her that I wanted to have a wedding just as beautiful and she laughed. She grabbed a hold of my face and told me that marrying the right person would make it the most beautiful wedding ever. A person that is my soulmate, a person that is my best friend and my lover at the same time. A person that sticks by my side, no matter what. A person that loves every side of me."

Adrien saw his father standing there in the corner of the room and definitely noticed a small smile on his face with some tears in his eyes as he brought up Mom. He took a deep sigh before looking back at Marinette. "If my mom was still with us today, I would be able to tell her, that I found that person and we're going to have the most beautiful wedding together." He finished. Marinette was biting her lip to contain the biggest smile on her face as also in her eyes appeared tears.

Applause sounded all over the room as he leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Enjoy your meal, everyone." He said before he sat down again. Marinette grabbed his hand and gave it a light squeeze. "That was so sweet." She cooed into his ear. Adrien chuckled and brought his hand to his lip before placing a kiss on it. "Meant every word, m'lady."
