I peered around the corner at the new serving staff. Our palace was just finished and now the staff was arriving. In case you didn't know already, my name is Princess Mariana Elise of the Northern Isles. My father, King Neptune of the Northern Isles married my Mother, Queen Kolsilee Oasis of the Wanderers Islands. I'm the youngest of seven girls each already married accept my sister Tatiana Eclipse. My sisters, oldest to youngest, are: Iriana Reef, Hannah Summer, Makayla Dew, Kiana Miri, Ilisee Enna, Liana Dawn, Tatiana Eclipse, and Me. Our old palace was destroyed in the War of Fifth Waters and Father commissioned a new one to be built on the mainland. 

As I peeked around the corner again at the new staff, someone tugged on the back of my gown. I turned to find my mother with a frail girl behind her.

"Hikh Chark! Tuko dhak kalr da dho Houk Sdirrolav Muak lakhd uvuav! Ah, uh, uh, va kidk! Nav Mulauvu! Oh hikh, hikh. Sdak dankruavavk Mulauvu. Yai duv kadk ik u kvudk av dho vuav." She said in Wanderst, her native language. To anyone else's ears, her words sounded like harsh cries, and deep throaty sounds, but to my ears it sounded beautiful. The syllables blended together forming a melodious language.

Hush Child! Take this girl to the Head Scullery Maid right now. Ah, ah, ah, no buts! Now Mariana! Oh hush, hush. Stop complaining, you can pick up a snack on the way!" She repeated again when I began to protest.

"Favo Munu." I impatiently replied. (Fine Mama)

I took the scullery maid down the hall and into the large kitchen.

"Ago!" I called the Head Scullery Maid's name and she came running, "Mama sent this girl to you." I turned on my heels after she nodded and headed back to Mama. As I ran down the halls, my shoulder got someone else's and I tumbled. I looked up, about to yell but the face I saw stopped me.
