My teeth ripped through a cats scruff.
He sank his teeth back into my leg: I let out soft yowl, but then I turned to face him. I thought of how my best mentor died. My eyes grew into slits, and I could see him backing up in fear. Before he could escape I sprang up in the air and swiped a big paw at his eye leaving him with a scar. He ran away with pain rushing down his eyes and his throat.

I turned, to see the leader creeping behind a bush toward me. Was he to challenge me? I thought to myself fine but make it quick. He came out from the shadows: I felt a lump in my belly as he came out. He was huge, with big paws and a big body, about 4 four times the size of me! Let's go I thought. My thoughts lead me to turn up to the sky and pray to Starclan.

We circled for a few seconds, then I lunged at him, but I missed being flung to the floor by his massive paw. "Can't you do better than that! That reminds, me what happened to your mentor, oh did she die? Maybe so!" I could see his eyes glowing with pride, but I wasn't. Pain and anger swelled up in me and I backed up ready to sprint on his back making him yowl away.

"Are you afraid Kitty-pet! Ha!" He said while looking at the leader and not me. I thought to myself this is the perfect time, I ran as fast as I could into the massive cat and flung him to the other side of the camp where he hit the rocky wall guarding our camp. He looked up at me as I lowered my head to his ear, " Don't ever speak of that again!" His eyes went into slits as he hummed a low growl toward my face.

I turned away and watched as the rest of the Shadowclan cats hurried away, with the leader, Nightstar, following behind. Leafstar looked at me and nodded her head with respect: I felt as if I was the leader now, but that was never going to happen. I nodded back respectfully with my bed and tail held high.

My paws took me into the nursery, where the 5 kits where huddling together with there mother, Rosecloud, guarding them. She said"well done Frosttail."
"Thank you." I said as she walked out of the nursery nudging her kits to follow. I felt relieved that the fight was over, until I saw a cat laying on the floor in the middle of the clearing.

Leafstar was yowling with pain and sadness. I hurried over to the dead cat to see who it was. Oh I thought. It was the deputy, stormcloud. I pressed my muzzle into her flank and smelled her sent fill my nose to remember her. I licked Leafstar to comfort her, but she laid down again next to her favorite cat.

Who will she chose now to be her deputy,? I thought. I scampered over to berrynip, the medicine cat, to help her heal all the sick or wounded cats. I took a cobweb and laid it over to a cat standing in line. "Where are you hurt?" I said as she nosed at her ear. "Alright now don't move ok?"
"Ok. I'll try not to."

I unwrapped the web with my paws and she held her head down. My paws took the cobweb and I set it down on her ripped ear. "There that should do it"
"Thanks!" She said as she nodded her head and then walked away toward her friend, Cloudclaw. I looked toward the sky, but then I saw tiny specks of white falling. Snow!
