Chapter Four: Stalker?!
****(Ash's POV)
"....so what are we gonna do now?"
I snorted at Dawn's question, wasn't it obvious? "We're going to find out who she is." I smirked.
Her eyes widened. After what happened yesterday I was completely sure I wasnted to know the honey haired girl's past. She might not be the Serena I knew when I was small, even though there is a small glint of hope deep in my heart, I just want to know her past. Who're her parents, when was she born, does she have any siblings, her childhood...
"Isn't that called stalking?" Dawn harshly whispered to me.
I looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "I thought you said you didn't want me to just sulk around at my house all day." I defended myself, even if she didn't help me I would still go ahead with my plan.
"Yeah, but my thoughts were completely different!" She made sure not to yell too loud, knowing that would bring attention.
I rolled my eyes, "Look, there's a possibility that this girl can be someone who I thought was long dead. We tried to ask her if she remembered, but we both know that didn't end well. I just want to know her background story, I'm just investigating her." I shrugged, trying to make it seem like it was no big deal. We both knew I had something in mind, but I wouldn't tell Dawn any more of my plan unless she agreed to help me.
Dawn took a deep breath before she nodded, "Okay do let's say you do find out her background story, what will you do next?" She placed her hands on her hips, raising any eybrow.
She was testing me. I slowly picked up my pencil and opened my notebook, "It all depends on what the results are." I began to draw lines on the paper.
"You're messed up in the head." She turned around and headed towards her desk. I merely shrugged and continued doodling.
I noticed when Serena walked into the classroom, I caught myself staring at her and quickly looked away, only to look back at her a few moments later. What surprised me ven more was that she was staring back at me, she hed a smile and started to walk towards me with a bag in her hand. I looked around for Dawn and cursed under my breath when I realized she wasn't in the room.
"Ash Ketchum...right?" She casually spoke to me, once she reached my desk. I merely nodded in response, "I wanted to thank you for what you did yesterday." She said quietly, handing me the bag.
I cocked my head to the side. "These are homemade chocolate chip cookies I made with my noona last night, I hope you like them." She smiled.
"O-oh," I stuttered, taking a deeo breath I continued. "What Dawn and I did wasn't a big deal, but thank you for the cookies." I smiled back shyly. I mentally slapped myself for acting so out of my character, I never stuttered nor did I get 'thank you gifts' from people.
She stood there awkwardly, avertung her eyes as if she had something to say, but didn't know exactly how to say it. "Ummm, have a good day." She finally said and left. I was glad when I school bell rang and all the students took their seats, Dawn arriving just before the teacher did.
I had wanted to call Dawn yesterday after the whole incident, but forgot I didn't have her number so I still had no clue what yesterday's class was about. Had Dawn also gotten cookies from Serena? Yeah she must have...or maybe Serena still has to give some to her. What if she only gave them to me? No...another mental slap, I'm overthinking this. I had to pay attention in class, this is my second year, I can't let my mind wander off just because of some girl.
Before I could convince myself, that thinking about some girl was just plain stupid and that I should pay attention in class, the bell rang anf we were dismissed for lunch.
Dawn left the classroom woth some of her friends along with everone else. I sighed, looking out the window. The cookies came into mind again, but this time, what caught my attention was the fact that she mention her grandmother. If she's the Serena from my childhood, then I know for a fact that her Grandmother did have a very good relationship with Serena's mother, so why would Serena be baking with her grandmother? Serena's mother would never live in the same house as her grandmother, plus, if I remember correctly, that house only has one spare bedroom that Serena ould use when she slept over at her grandmother's....
"I'm guessing you want to eat outside today?" I flinched, turning around to face Garry, glarring at him for startling me. "Come on, let's go before the food decides it doesn't want o be eaten." He grabbed my wrist, pulling me up.
"What makes you think I want to eat outside?" I arched an eyebrow, even though he wasn't looking at me.
"Well, you were looking out the window as if the answer to all your problems would be there if you went outside, so lets go." He tugged at my arm.
I rolled my eyes, grabbing the bag of cookies from the brawer in my desk before I let myself be dragged outside where we sat down under a Maple Tree.
"What's that?" Garry asked, pointing at the bag.
"Drugs." I bluntly said. He laughed, knowing I was being sarcastic. He reached over and grabbed the bag, opening it, before I had a chance to retrieve it.
"Ahh~ you're girlfriend made you some cookies?" He reached out to pinch my cheek, but failed as I slapped his hand away. He pouted and rubbed his hand, "You're so mean!"
"I thought you would've already gotten used to it." I leaned on the palms of my hands as I sat criss-crossed on the grass.
He chuckled, looking at the cookies again, "So who made them?" He asked again.
"Your mom." I smirked, reaching for the bag, but was pushed away as Garry lifted the bag.
"Since my mom made them, I'm allowed to eat them." Garry grabbed one, opening his mouth.
"Oh please don't, I brought them here so I could eat them infront of you." I rolled my eyes, smiling when he took a bite of the cookie.
I waited until he finished chewing before reaching out to grab a cookie. He simply smiled and continued eating.
After eating lunch, Garry and I relaxed under the Maple Tree, we were stuffed from all the food.
"That was a great meal!" Garry stretched out as he laid on he grass, before he looled at me. "You never told me who made those cookies."
I sighed, looking up at the leaves, then looking down at Garry. "The new girl, Serena." I shrugged, trying to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal, when I perfectly knew it was.
"Oh really?" He snorted, "Why did she give you them?" I wasn't sure if he didn't believe ne or if it was more of him being nosey.
I didn't want to explain the whole story about what had happened yesterday to Garry, so I just shrugged again and responded with an, "I don't know."
He was about to speak up when the bell rang, meaning lunch was over anf we had to get back to class. We quickly got up and walked into the school building, glad he didn't say anything more about the cookies.
Garry waved bye as he entered his classroom, I sighed and continued walking until a saw Dawn.
I quickly walked over to her, gently tapping her on the shoulder and quietly whispered, "After school, I'll wait for you by the front entrance."
