PART TWO
1.
Terrence Williams arrived at his new home just before ten in the morning on Wednesday the sixth of September 2017. He got out of his easy on the eye Ford Mustang, moved a few feet and stood to take in any kind of feeling he could get for the immediate area of where it is his new residence so happens to be. Slowly turning a full three sixty he needs to briefly shield his eyes from the strong low lying morning sun.
He has had that car of his for some time now and pre-purchase he had thought about acquiring a colourful car to match a personality he really wanted to break right into. Somehow red, yellow, or blue just did not feel right so he went with the classic black, a colour his personality has remained stuck within ever since.
Now there is nothing dark about Terrence Williams, rather the colour matches his ordinary world where had always accepted what is expected of him. His current circumstances have set him free to the degree where he can now go do things he always wanted to and had previous been unable to do. The car was a beginning of a new start and he wanted to reflect this with colour. Instead of a red, yellow, or blue, he went with the colour he formerly would have associated his life to.
He has also acquired himself a new house, one with which he could not wait to get to for in this there certainly is change. The purchase of this new home may be the actual first step in changing from a classic black to maybe a red, yellow, or blue. Still, this is just a maybe ...
This new home is a little ways away from where he is from. It is a little ways away from the life he has known up to this point. Beyond that, this new home is the first completely detached house he comes to from having passed the main estate ground gates and at that it is not all so far beyond those gates. From right next to this new house, to the right more so than to the left as he looks at this building, the estate begins to move downwards, quite steeply at first. It is not a particularly large estate, the grounds as a whole can be walked in a matter of minutes and is fairly circular, probably a little more oval than circular.
Housing is a mix of detached and semi-detached buildings to the left, to the right and in the center of a single road that circles the whole area is where he stands. One could walk or drive down to the right side of Terrance's new home and could find themselves coming up on the left-hand side in no time at all.
At this moment in time, the estate is fairly quiet. There are two young children playing a little ways down the hill on that right hand side. They are possibly three or four years old and are being supervised by a single adult, their mother, or an aunt perhaps. She sees this new arrival, Terrance, looking in her direction and sends a friendly wave his way. He waves back, speaking a pleasant 'Hello' loud enough for her to hear. First impressions as a new homeowner have him believing that this really could be a pleasant place to live.
With it approaching ten o' clock, Terrence has nowhere to go for the moving van coming his way is due to arrive at midday. Bit of a shame really, for his new home has not even got so much as a kettle or a mug to make himself a hot drink, not that he had anything he could add to boiling water. As it also is, there is not even so much as a chair for him to sit on and wait out the couple of hours.
The previous owners of this place appear to have taken everything with them. The interior of the house is completely bare, bright but bare with the strong sun's glare through the living room window creating a more than pleasant heat, a homely kind of warmth within an interior that has a musky dusty stench to boot. This bare thing may be something good, a blank canvas to add colour to.
He has his mobile phone but no local Wi-Fi as of yet to connect to. His monthly data usage has been surpassed but that can be easily sorted. He doesn't realize all that is or isn't straight away as in regard to what he does or does not yet have, though once he has entered his new home and has had a bit of a wander around to each room, he comes to that conclusion that there isn't much for him to do in this moment until his belongings arrive. The bare necessity within each room definitely matches that of the kitchen and living room ... and perhaps his inner self too.
The quick walking tour around the two-story house doesn't take up much time at all so right at this point Terrence is a complete loss for what to do with himself. If the moving van keeps to its time schedule, then surely there is time to take a stroll down to the town village and have a brief look around of a place completely alien to him before arriving back with plenty of time to meet that van.
Up towards the main estates gates there is a pedestrian walkway that can be taken which will lead a path downhill towards the town village not much more than a five-minute walk away so no big deal, a walk down to the town can do no harm. No point in taking that Ford Mustang of his back out, the town center is only a stone's throw away and besides, you can't really have all that much of a look around when you are stuck behind a steering wheel. So out for a pleasant stroll it is, adding to the first steps already taken to escape the black.
Indeed, all seems pleasant. The morning sun and the warmth it brings, the estate his new home is a part of, and the walk down to the village, all definitely pleasant things. During the walk, three people greet Terrence with an 'hello' and to all of whom he duly responds.
The bulk of the town is downhill at the end of the street and down the left turn. There are some stores and the likes at the end of the street he came down and a few other places of note to the right but down the left in bulk is where the town holds the most attention and to add to that if one went down main street and kept on going you would soon come to a relatively small sized beach where the ocean would stretch out as far as the eye could see.
Coming out from the estate being so far uphill the sea can be seen over building tops though it steadily disappears from view the lower one gets until a walk through the town can be completed or at least come close to being complete. The town, kind of like the estate where Terrance has a new home, is circular. Actually, the town is more of a double circle. If one were to look across the town from above, then its shape could be considered to take the shape of an elongated number eight or an infinity sign.
Down the end of the main street, you could go down the lengthy rock banks and onto the beach or you could go left or right and walk all the way around until you end up right where you began.
Now if you were to take the left turn at the end of the main street and then walk round you would come to a point where turning left again brings you back into the town though if you were to take a right instead of the left that goes back into town then such a turn would bring you back uphill and back towards the estate where an empty home waits, but before you come to have this option of a left or a right, there is a rather large car park area on the right hand side of the street as you come to it.
At the far end of this car park and on the left-hand side there is a children's playground beyond which is a public swimming pool and an activity center. To the right at the far end of that car park right close to that playground is a public park entrance. Passing by the entrance to the car park, Terrance can't help but peer in and look at what he might see. Straight away the entrance to the public park catches his eye and he doesn't know why this may be.
Everything about this day and this place up until now has been bright, warm, and pleasant, the town, the people, the day itself but that park entrance from what Terrance can see of it is dark, well at least all of what is beyond the entrance appears dark. Terrance cannot see all too far into this park from his current vantage point and there are a number of trees beyond that entrance too though still, the brightness should still shine on through.
What he can see is not all that out of the ordinary and for some reason he finds it mesmerizing and mesmerizing to the point that Terrance could not expect it to be taking him as it does. So mesmerizing at that, a call to his mobile phone completely catches him off guard. It's the removal company he has used for his move. Their van is outside his new home, and no one is there to deal with the arrival.
'They are early' he says out loud only to be told that it is ten after midday ... ten after midday?
There is no way that Terrance has been out and about in a new place for a couple of hours, minutes yes ... but hours, not a chance, yet it really has come to be ten after midday. Arriving to his new home just before ten, a brief look at the estate and house then a few minutes down to the town, somehow more than two hours have gone-by?
His new home is not all so far away from where he stands so all he could do at this point is get there as soon as he can which of course is something which would only take a few minutes. Luckily, he now had the moving of his belongings into his home to keep him occupied for at least a while, preventing him from dwelling on whatever it was that had happened to him. He is back at that house in a matter of minutes.
Terrence is missing a couple of hours of time. There is no way he spent that amount of time staring across a car park.
