• Epilogue •
Waking up in wrecks, she winced when she saw the corpses beside her.
Two young women were bent at an unnatural angle in the destroyed car seats.
As soon as she saw the blood on the shattered glass shard, realization dawned on her.
"Me? Bianca di Angelo... is dead?"
* * *
Gasping, Bianca stepped out on her former neighbourhood's sidewalk, lingering. Since her death, this was the first time she wandered around, getting accustomed to her new spirit form.
Passing away had been weighing on her, and strangely unreal. Though she had met Zoë as well, guilt had been piling up on her shoulders. Yet the older teenager had forgiven her.
Now it was Bianca's turn to get over it.
The girl passed through the thick walls of her past mansion, her touch inexistent in the living world. Ambling in mid-air, she edged closer to her brother's room. Unsurprisingly, he was the only one in the house.
Yet Bianca sensed another life force.
Tentatively, she pushed past the wooden, polished, black bedroom door, trying to catch a glimpse of what was happening inside.
The house was so quiet, the young teenager didn't know whether to be troubled or not. Yet, inside, the sight was so serene and peaceful, Bianca was tempted to lay down and rest as well.
On the mahogany king size bed lay two unmoving statuesque figures, the only movements being their chest rising up and down, breathing in and out the air that was so dear to them.
A black and grey cotton blanket was slid over their lower bodies, enveloping them so comfortingly, Bianca wanted to tuck them in and kiss his younger brother goodnight. Their heads were laying on black silk pillows, their faces so aspectabund yet tranquil.
The sun was setting outside, blazing out the last of its light, tinting the sky and clouds of its bright colors. The shiny moon was coming in view, the stars dancing in its company.
The dark-haired girl approached the bed, deciphering her brother Nico di Angelo. Seeing him after months of unconsciousness felt painful, like a dagger to her heart. If she edged too close, she would get impaled.
She brought out her hand to caress his slightly blushed cheek, only to pass straight through him with her ghostly fingers.
Repelled, she took a step back, forgetting about the inconvenience of being a spirit. Her gleaming black eyes widened in faint surprise. The silvery aura incasing her soul dimmed the slightest.
Instead of tearing up though, she gazed at the handsome boy who had his arms around her younger brother. His fit body was pressed against Nico's back and his hands were lingering at waist-level.
From the back of her mind, she remembered Percy Jackson, the well-known boy at her former high school. Dimly aware of how these two got together, a small smile tugged on Bianca's lips.
It had all started with an accident, huh?
Gazing at the two boys laying mildly together, sleeping, looking such at peace and ease, Bianca's chest swelled with pride.
Her brother had finally did it.
He had found love.
"Some accidents are meant to happen, aren't they?"
