Eleutheromania 2
"Surge! Do not back down! If our defenses here are overthrown, they would reach the capital and kill our families." Tzuyu yells as she swings her sword towards the opposing army. Blood was dripping from the metal blade as more men were dropping to the ground.
She saw a sword swing in her direction, slashing her chest with a deep cut. It penetrated below her rib, her mouth opening into a yell as she kills the soldier who stabbed her. Another hits her at the back, her tongue tasting iron as her knees drop to the ground. She rolls to the side and stabbed the enemy on his chest.
Tzuyu stands up again, not noticing how her blood was covering every single part of her body. Her breathing was steady, hands clutched around the grip of her sword. Her eyes remained at the attacks coming for her. She steps to the side and pushed her sword up against the enemy's stomach. The blood splatters across her metal, sheathing as more and more dies from her own blade.
There wasn't a single thought on Tzuyu's mind but to win this war. To win and to protect her own kingdom. And lastly, to protect her own love.
Mina. Her dearest queen.
"Bloody hell! They have more men coming!" Tzuyu heard one of her soldiers yelling. The sounds of horses marching were coming towards their battlefield, the enemy's horns were booming across the whole plains.
"Do not back out! We are the only line of protection for our kingdom!" Tzuyu yells, before piercing three more men. She lunges forward, knocking a group of the enemy soldiers to the group before piercing them straight to the neck.
Three arrows flew and struck Tzuyu right at her torso. They punctured a hole through her armor. Her legs drop to the ground as she felt the blood flow out of all of her injuries. Every time she breathes, Tzuyu felt more of her blood spewing out of her chest. Her chest heaved, the air was not getting in her lungs and breathing becomes a chore itself. Each of her breath got shorter and shorter. Every inhale was getting more painful. She tried to raise her arms, gasping for more air, but her muscles felt limp. From her arms down to her legs, Tzuyu couldn't move anything.
I feel like shit...
"Tzuyu! Hold on! You need to live!" A small elf came to her side, pulling her limp body away from the middle of the battlefield. Tzuyu clung on to Chaeyoung's sleeve for dear life as she felt her breathing was getting shallow.
"It hurts... It hurts too much." Tzuyu said. Her grip was loosening, the small burst of energy that she had was gone.
"We'll get you healed, just don't die on me." Chaeyoung ripped her sleeves, making a small knot to secure the arrows on Tzuyu's chest. She wanted to make sure that she won't cause more bleeding or that will surely kill the heiress.
The elf watches her fellow elves aim their longbows in the opposite direction, hitting the first line of cavalries. Tzuyu's army was slowly depleting in numbers, with their general now down on the ground and more enemies were marching down to fight them. Chaeyoung understood why Gucci was persistent in escaping his stable, the horse sensed the danger his owner was facing.
A pack of wolves came and started mauling the armed enemies with their enormous jaws, teeth barring inside the human flesh. Their furs differed in dark shades of hues, but only one stood out to Chaeyoung's eyes. A silvery-white mane dashed across several men, killing them by her paws. Red streaks of blood splattered, staining the white fur. The wolf jumped down to Chaeyoung's side, its voice was troubled as it spoke.
"My pack wasn't ready to kill at least 50,000 armed soldiers. I'm afraid we won't last any longer." Dahyun said as more of her wolves were being pushed by the enemies. Her blue hooded eyes looked down at Tzuyu, the latter was covered in blood.
"You should bring back Tzuyu to your village. I'll be fighting with them." The wolf growled. its claws growing as her stance was ready to pounce. Dahyun was waiting, making sure that Tzuyu can escape with her small elf friend.
Chaeyoung whistles, a black stallion was quick to pick her and Tzuyu up from the ground. She places Tzuyu in front of her, careful not to drop the bleeding general.
"Don't die. You got your luna waiting for you," Chaeyoung said. She pats the horse's head, dashing towards the deeper part of the forest. She heard a loud howl from the distance.
____
Tzuyu felt like she was underwater, her ears were plugged, and breathing was almost impossible to keep doing. She can see Chaeyoung hovering her hands over her half-dead body. A green glow was sparkling. The pain was lessening, but her heart was still not beating at a normal rate.
"Healing magic doesn't work on her! She's dead if she closes her eyes right now," Chaeyoung said. She had already closed two of the heiress wounds, and more blood was spilling over the bedsheets.
Tzuyu heard Chaeyoung's voice as she said it three times and it was fading away like she was in a deep canyon. Her hearing was slowly fading away, the noises from outside were just a mere blur.
"Turning her can help but..."
Just do it, please! I have to—I need to see Mina...
Her eyes were open, but her eyes can only see a black circle closing in. Only a small light in the middle remained as everything went blurry. It was like an end of a tunnel, a stop to all the pain she was feeling. A ringing noise played across her ears and all the strings went away.
It was quiet.
Serene.
Just like every time she was with Mina.
Mina, her love. The only woman who she will only love, even to the brink of her death. She can imagine the queen's face, how she smiles gently at Tzuyu and how her eyes sparkle every night they see each other.
It was peaceful as her eyes grew heavy; the quietness makes her want to close her eyes and sleep. She didn't fear death anymore. It was just this weird quietness and a small light in her vision that was because everything else around her sight was a dark, blurry circle. She was very tempted to close her eyes and just let go.
This is it... I'm sorry, I can't fight anymore.
"This will sting."
A bite on Tzuyu's neck sent shock waves of electricity through her veins, her eyes widening. It released the silence with her screams of agony, all of her wounds closed by their selves. Her body twitches, palms clenched into fists as her skin turns pale. A newly found energy enters her, but her mortal body turned frozen cold, irises turning red.
"Jeongyeon-unnie, did you just turn Tzuyu?" The small elf asks the tall figure beside her, a cape covering her pale skin. Jeongyeon steps back from Tzuyu, cleaning the dripping blood from her fangs.
"It was the only choice, Chae. If we wanted her to live, only a vampire's bite can save her."
"Mina..." Tzuyu whispers, before slowly raising up from laying down. Her eyes start to form tears as she looks down at her torn tunic that was covered in plain blood. Only then she realized she needed to return to the battlefield.
Her army.
Her people.
Her friends.
Everyone there was trying their best to defend their loved ones. And she was the only one who wasn't doing that. Tzuyu looks at the two supernatural creatures, who gave her an assuring look, handing her a vial of blood.
"Drink it. Then we'll go back and win this war."
_____
As multiple arrows and swords have hit almost all parts of her body, the pain never ran through her immortal body. Tzuyu swings her sword, blood splattering at her face as she beheads multiple soldiers on her own. Her mouth was fixed on a smile, fangs showing. More and more men drop to the ground, only their screams of pain filled the battlefield that was almost lifeless. The general remained standing in the middle, four long swords pierced through her flesh and arrows were sticking out of her back.
It was over.
They covered the forest ground in heaps of blood, bodies scattered over the dirt paths. Dahyun leaned against the kingdom's stone wall, panting from hours of holding on to dear life. Her whole body ached as her fur slowly disappeared, turning into her human self.
The enemy army almost reached the gates, not until Tzuyu killed the remaining men. She watches how her wolves and some humans were being treated immediately by Chaeyoung and her fellow elves.
"Alpha, I believe I can hear a group of soldiers coming from the distant north." Dahyun's ears perked up at her beta's words. Footsteps of armored men were getting closer and closer.
"Tzuyu! There is more coming!" Dahyun howls, turning into her wolf form, ignoring the exhaustion that pained over her. She runs over to Tzuyu's side, growling as the fog clears out.
A white flag was raised on the horizon as the sun shone brightly at the devastation. Thousands of marching men had their swords hidden. And the only one who was riding a horse waved the white flag. The people beside them were waving three flags that symbolized the three kingdoms from the east.
"Don't attack. They are Mina's allies," Tzuyu said, raising her arm to the side, blocking the wolf. She enters her sword back to its holder, before seeing the one who was holding the white flag go down from its horse.
"We come in peace! Please let our general meet yours." They yelled. Piercing the flagpoles on the ground beside the dead bodies of Tzuyu's enemies.
Tzuyu steps closer, with Dahyun trailing behind her, suspicious of the unknown visitor. An armored soldier removes their helmet, a crown forged on its top. A sharp face reveals itself, eyes widen when she saw Tzuyu. Tzuyu recognizes the soldier, the general, and the reigning emperor of Japan, Hirai Momo.
"Y-your Chou Tzuyu, the next crowned leader of Taiwan," Momo said. Her eyes were wide open at the gruesome sight since the newly turned vampire she was facing was just covered entirely with blood.
Tzuyu nods her head before placing her bloody arm on her chest, bowing 90 degrees. "Yes, that is I. I am also the general you are looking for, your majesty," Tzuyu said.
Momo immediately drops one knee on the ground with her soldiers at the back, following her action. There was a loud synchronized thud from their heavy metal armor, their katanas laid in front of them.
Dahyun slightly steps back, blinking at how the highest army was there, bowing down their heads at a foreigner and a wolf like her.
"I apologize for being tardy at this war. Please let my army clean this mess and stand guard if the king attacks again. We would like to help with anything we could, but I need to talk to you immediately."
_____
"What's this?" Tzuyu asks. She lets the emperor sit down on the wooden chair as they handed a paper to her. She stares at the seal, the same seal that the letter from Mina had.
"A letter from Mina. I want you to read it."
"Dear emperor,
I have a very huge favor that I want to ask as part of the eastern trinity. You may have known the troubles of the new king reigning in my late parent's kingdom. A war has been declared against the Chou empire, and I request a hand in the battle for them.
Momo-unnie, the heiress of this empire, is the same person I have been talking about in my previous letters. Please, please, I need you to help her. She's the only reason I want to keep living and if I lost her, I would have to die as well. Whether you win or lose, please make sure she is safe. After that, I plan on escaping if you will help me accomplish it.
I will be waiting for your reply.
Mina."
"I plan on helping her escape, but I would like to know your desires as well," Momo said. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her eyes were staring deeply at the turned vampire, a tired smile on her lips.
"I want to save her. I need to save her."
"Then we'll do it."
Tzuyu stayed silent. She sighs, not minding the dying blood on her body as she looks at the emperor with pleading eyes.
"Are you willing to be allies with me? I'm a mere foreigner in this land, and my friends are creatures that humans do not wish to interact with. The wolves, the elves, and now I'm a vampire," Tzuyu said, touching the fresh bite on her neck. Her skin was cold, drained, and lifeless.
"But Mina puts her trust in you, right? That's enough for me to believe in your strength and loyalty. I will send all of my cavalries to march and to breach the king's castle walls, with your assistance."
"T-thank you, your majesty." She drops to the ground, bowing down until her forehead reaches the floor. Doing a dogeza, at the Momo's feet.
"Raise your head, Tzuyu. We are both generals of our armies. You should take a good rest as your body looks unwell," Momo said. She pulls Tzuyu up with her right hand and looks up and down at the multiple sharp weapons sticking out of Tzuyu's flesh. She smiles at the vampire, patting her lifeless shoulder.
Heavy footsteps march into the room. A soldier had sweat dripping from his head. His chest heaves from running, but still went on his knees and spoke.
"Your majesty! Another letter has arrived from queen Mina, the messenger was seeking reinforcements. They said she was in danger," the soldier said, handing Momo another sealed letter. Tzuyu's body perks up at hearing Mina's name as Momo stood up from her seating. She looks at the vampire, nodding her head.
"We need to go."
