Chapter 1
Dragons. The clones had grown up with the tales of 6 legendary riders and their dragons, helping those in need and defeating the evil that lurked within that world. These stories had been passed down for generations on Mandalore. When Jango Fett arrived on Kamino, he would tell these stories to the first generation of what would become a Grand Army someday. When he died, the clones continued to carry passing on the tales of the Dragon Riders of Berk that had some how survived millennia after millennia of legacy...
"Hey, have you seen where I put my razor?" asked Clone Captain Rex, running his gloved hand through his freshly grown stubble. He hated stubble. It grew like weeds. Once it had been dealt with, the next wave would appear. The cycle would repeat until he got too old to fight. He looked directly at one of his closest brothers, Fives. "Are you even going to answer me?"
"Does it look like I want your razor Rex?" Fives was sat on a crate polishing his beautiful twin pistols. He could see his face just about bouncing back at him as he scrubbed away. He looked up. "Why don't you let your field of dry grass grow out for once?"
"I have blonde stubble. Not grass." responded Rex, grabbing his younger brother's arm and dragging him from his seat. "You have a goatee to keep intact. And that requires a razor, which puts you on my suspect list. Now help me find it."
"Yes, Captain." sighed Fives, picking up his pistols and holstering them.
Walking past more of their brothers, including Hardcase, who was in the middle of his flexible Yoga class, Rex and Fives could see General Skywalker casually walking on to the clone deck. "Rex! Fives!" called the General, running over to them.
Anakin Skywalker's mop of hair was an obvious sign that he hadn't stolen the razor, but the fact that there was no stubble on his face had raised Rex's suspicions. The Republic could afford new weapons but not new razors, which basically annoyed all of the clones, who either suffered from helmet hair or couldn't cope with how hot the helmets got sometimes. "What do you need us for, General?" asked Captain Rex.
"It's about Echo." Responded Anakin, keeping a straight face. An explosion went off in Fives' brain. He had been dying to see Echo since he had found out his brother was alive and now Skywalker had some news. Was it good news? Or was it bad news? "He's coming home to the 501st."
"HECK YEAH!!!!!!!!" Yelled Fives, freaking out like a small kid. In celebration, he started to floss. As for Rex, a smile crept across his worn and torn face. He had seen Echo when he was a Separatist experiment. He wondered what the Republic would do to him now he contained a lot of Separatist information that would prove useful. How would they use the data? Would Echo be himself?
"When will Echo arrive, Sir?" Fives asked, as his flossing came to a halt.
"Tomorrow." smiled General Skywalker, giving two of his finest soldiers a smile. The thought of having an old friend back led to the thought of another, his former Padawan, Ahsoka Tano. It had been 8 months since she had left. He hadn't received any messages from her. But sometimes Rex, Fives or Commander Cody would receive a small message from her. "Has Ahsoka contacted any of you recently?"
"No Sir." Captain Rex sighed. The last message he had received form her was that she was alright. That was 3 months ago. Every time he tried to reach out to her, no response came. Every day he grew more and more anxious on her whereabouts. He missed her. She never even said bye to him. She just left the temple and her life behind. "I just hope she is alright."
"Ahsoka is a strong woman." replied Anakin, trying to motivate Rex, "She can cope with anything. She will get in touch again." His confidence subsided with this last sentence. He knew Rex was feeling the same way as him. "Go and have some fun, Captain. You barely take time to relax."
"Yes, sure." Rex was having one of his moments when he zoned out and couldn't think of anyone else at the mention of her name. He felt Skywalker put him on the shoulder before walking off. He came back to reality. In the distance, he could see Cody, covered in shaving foam. A little piece of metal shone in his direction. It was in Cody's hand. It was his razor. He beautiful razor.
Cody instantly saw Rex's now predator like eyes glaring at him. "Oh Sh-" he cried as Rex launched after him.
Fives stood and watched. He smiled in glee. This was tonight's entertainment. And it was good.
