Are you happy?
"Are you really happy with them, Roman? Do you really deserve this? To be hated just for your opinion? Just because of your style? Just because of something you can't control? For what you are trying to bring to the table?" Deceit questioned.
"I'll think about it." Roman answered thoughtfully.
"What is there to think about? You're not respected!" Deceit shouted.
"Well I can't let the others know that, It's not my job to care about other's opinions." Roman muttered.
"You're only human, well a trait, but nobody's perfect." Deceit said, calming down.
Roman had been coming to see Deceit for a number of weeks now, for emotional support. Things he couldn't tell the other's, Deceit made him feel better but was a little adamant about a better life for Roman.
"You deserve better, Roman." Deceit whispered.
"I really don't..." Roman trailed off.
"Whatever, I'm not going to convince you. Just get back to work then." Deceit said as he accepted defeat for this time.
"M'kay." Roman said lazily, as he bopped Deceit on the nose.
Deceit sat there stunned as Roman walked away to do his work. For the next few weeks, Deceit left subtle hints that he was there and things to cheer Roman up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Roman was yelled at by Logan, Patton and Virgil one day for accidentally spending too much money on things that Thomas didn't need, he saw a little snake plush with a handkerchief around it's neck and a note saying, 'Control is the answer, Don't push onto Thomas what you're feeling with the others. Do you need any help?'.
And as quick as you please, Roman was in Deceit's room and the tears fell down. Deceit's room, oddly enough, brought the truth out of you. You could not lie in Deceit's room, as Deceit said 'Contrast isn't boring. Being the same every waking hour would get sickening.'Deceit could also sense when you were lying so you couldn't get around this slimy snake. No-one could get away with lying to Deceit.
"Are you happy?" Deceit questioned, yet the question felt so loaded. He continued, "Are you happy with how you're living, right now in this instant? Are you happy with them?"
The answer was that Roman wasn't happy with them, he wasn't happy with his life, he wasn't happy. Yet somehow, he couldn't bring himself to say that even when he was in Deceit's room.
"Yeah, of course!" Roman said, overly happy and with a huge fake smile.
Deceit was shocked for a moment and yet he answered with, "No!, You're not, you can't fool me Roman. I know you're not happy, otherwise you wouldn't spend hours telling me about how you don't like how your life is going yet somehow still believe that you don't deserve better!"
Roman's world was crumbling. Deceit really only wanted what was best for him yet he made him hate him by not doing better. "I-I", he tried to speak through sobbing, "I--I'll--I will----Do better,--- I will."
When Deceit realised what he had done, his chest flooded with a cold sticky feeling and his brain was swirling out of control. Think. Think. Think. Deceit swooped Roman up into a hug and spoke softly, "I don't hate you, I know your reasons for not taking a new life by the reins and demanding better. I only want what's best for you. You've settled into routine for now, but your new life could be so much better. Come on, just sleep in my room for the night."
Roman had stopped crying though his voice was weak, "W-what does a new life have to do with sleeping in your room?"
"You'll feel better, much better. I always feel amazing when I wake up." Deceit answered. And I want him to sleep with me.
"M'kay, Deceit." Roman muttered as he curled into him, utterly exhausted from crying so hard. "It's nice to not be alone."he muttered a few minutes later as he drifted of to sleep.
Deceit couldn't help but smile at the prince as he took in his relaxed features and soon Deceit was asleep as well.
