Chapter 2: Kade

Back home I slammed the car door shut and walked inside the pack house without bothering with the girl. She was of no use to me. Heck I wasn't even sure what to do with her. There was a little bit of empty land between the Forte and Potent pack which nobody wanted. That piece of land was called a no-man's land. Both of us had plenty of land to run and do our business. I had thought that Alpha Wiese would help settled the dispute of the land in getting his daughter back.

That had obviously backfired. I wanted nothing to do with the land. I was having my own problems in the pack and I didn't need any added up problems.

"What did you do with my mate?"

I stopped short as I heard Ramison, or more commonly known as Rammy. He was one of the warriors of the pack and also known as Heather's mate.

"Your mate's father ordered her to reject you," I said, telling him the hard truth.

I was pretty straight farworded with my members. I didn't sugarcoat my words. They were just no use.

"She can't reject me!" Rammy exclaimed.
"Look sorry bro but there's nothing I can do. You will find another chance," I said.
"Yeah. You can't do anything because you don't know what's it like to have a mate. You haven't even found yours," he retorted.
"Ramison!" I growled warningly.

Yeah. I hadn't found my mate. Even at twenty three years of age; I was alone. I had given up hope of ever finding my mate. Or having a mate. Mates were a piece of waste. They made you weak. And if Alphas' got weak; the pack crumbled. I couldn't have that happening to my pack.

"Sorry Alpha. I love her," he sighed.
"How can you love someone whom you had just met a few days away?" I questioned.
"When you find your mate you will know. It's like you have found your perfect match. You love her instantly," he said.
"Well I don't think that I will be finding my mate. And I don't want to have a mate in the first place," I scoffed.

I turned around to go only to find Zoey standing behind me wearing a confused look. Ignoring her I marched straight to my office and engrossed myself in my work. A while later a delicious smell wafted to my nose which made my dtomach grumble. I realize I was indeed hungry. My eyes flickered to Chris; who was also smelling the scent out.

"What do you think?" I asked.
"I think someone's cooking," Chris said.

I glanced at the clock to see that it was indeed lunchtime. As usual I lost tract of time when I engross myself in my work. Normally I would order something or just eat leftovers. Chris and I walked out of the office to the kitchen. We saw that everyone was making their way to the kitchen.

Our pack house wasn't used as a living accomodation buut as a meeting place. Only wolves who wanted to live in the pack house. So there were only about 30 members at the pack house. No kids. I hated kids. The sight that greeted us in the kitchen made us stop short.

"What are you doing?" I demanded.

Zoey was standing at the stove cooking food. Half of the table was alredy set. At my words she jumped and turned around to look at me.

"Um cooking," Zoey stuttered, looking down.
"Who the hell told you to cook?" I asked, a muscle working in my jaw.
"No one," she said.

I turned to my members.

"Let god help you because if I find out which one of you freaking slime balls told her I will starve you and that would be a very linient punishment," I warned.

Nobody dared say a word after my threat.

"I did this of my own free will," Zoey spoke up after a moments silence.
"Did you do this at your old pack?" Chris asked.
"Yes I did. I did all the work so it was natural that I did the cooking here," she shrugged her shoulders.

Man she's used to it. You don't need to get so worked up about it. Let's eat. Or else it would make her feel bad, Chris said.

I sighed but nodded my head. I walked farwords and sat down at the head of the table. The others followed suit with Chris sitting next to me. Zoey  served all of us lunch and then proceeded to go out of the kitchen.

"Aren't you going to join us?" Chris asked.
"Um I normally eat after the pack," Zoey said.
"You made this lunch so it's only vise if you eat with us," Dominic said.

Zoey looked like she was going to cry at the comment making me frown. Was she actually treated like an omega?

"Uh thanks," she said.

She came towards the table at sat down tentatively on the last chair.

Julia? Where are you? I asked.
I am at the club meeting. Why? She replied.
No reason. I said.

There were only males at the pack house this time of day. Beside my sister Julia there was no other female. She had always complained about the lack of females in the pack house saying she was alone. I wanted her to meet Zoey though since she was a chatterbox and didn't know when to stop. She would make Zoey her friend before tthe day was over.

While I was the exact opposite. As some would describe me as a workaholic; others would describe me as stony and impassive. I had to maintain my reputation in order to get the pack running. If I so much as give a smile everyone would get lazy and not take me lightly.

"A great meal," Wallace said.
"I had never tasted a meal this good before," Andrew said.

Zoey blushed under the compliments and looked down at the table.

"What's this I hear about the new member?" Julia asked, as she walked in.

Julia was younger than me at age 20 years. She was in her second year of college and studying in political attributes. She wanted to be in the werewolf politics and had already found her mate. She wanted to try and wait for their first child after graduation since only a year was left.

"And who cooked lunch?" Julia continued.

We all looked at her in silence until her eyes found Zoey. The squeal she gave was deafening as wolves had sensitive hearing.

"Finally I have got some company!" Julia squealed.
"Um Julia will you stop behaving like a two year old?" Her mate, Zach asked.
"Shut up," she scowled at him.

Julia pulled Zoey out of her chair and gave her a once over before practically hugging the breath out of her.

"You and I are going to be the best of friends. Right Kade?" Julia looked over at me.

I only gave her a warning glance to shut the fuck up but as per the norm she didn't gave me any heed. The thing was that Julia had not had one single girl whom she could call her friend. She befriended quite a lot of girls but they all seem to lust after me and the only topic they did talk about was me and my mate. She was tired of all of that and needed a friend in her life.

"Come on I will show you your room," Julia said.
"I have to tidy the kitchen," Zoey said.
"Oh hush. Kade, Chris and Zach will do it," Julia said dismissively.
"Why us?" Chris asked, raising his eyebrow.
"Because you all need to do something other than work," she retorted.
"Very funny," Zach muttered.
"Um I already know where my room is," Zoey said.
"What? You do? Damn! Who showed you?" She asked.
"I did," Vincent said gruffly.

He was always the stiff one and that's why he's the best tracker of my pack. Nobody could get through the boundary unscathed. He had his own story of his life which even I didn't know about. He doesn't talk about himself.

"Oh then it's ok," Julia said, before turning towards Zoey.
"Come on. We can get to know one another," she said.
"Not before I do the kitchen," Zoey said, shaking her head.

Julia turned towards me with a knowing smile.

Why are you looking at me like that? I asked.
I think she's going to suit you just fine, she said.
I did not bring her here for myself, I scoffed.
Shut up. She's going to be perfect. I know it, she said.
You and your matchmaking skills, I said.

Zoey started gathering up the finished plates as she walked towards the sink. The other members started getting up to leave for their work but not before saying their thanks to Zoey. I also started to get up but Julia pushed me down.

"You are going to help Zoey," Julia said.
"I have got work to do," I said.
"No she can't do all the work by herself," she said.
"Why can't you?" I asked.
"I have got to spend time with Zach since he has been complaining I keep busying myself with studies," Julia said.
"I have got more important work than doing something stupid," I scoffed.
"It's ok. I can do all of this by myself. I don't need help," Zoey interrupted.
"See? Now get off me," I forcefully stood up and left the kitchen.

I had to check the border for any signs of tresspassing and other important stuff. My wolf, Damien whined inside my head but couldn't say anything as I blocked him out.

I hope you guys liked this chapter since I wasn't sure how to actually place Kade's strict character. How do you guys like Julia? Outspoken? Show off? Well she has her own story to tell! Please leave your feedback in the comments section and don't be a silent reader.
