Michael is 49, Angela is 43
Angela: It felt like the drive to the hospital lasted forever.
They took Michael straight to the ICU and ordered me to stay in the waiting room.
I watched helplessly as the doors closed.
"Mom!" I heard Paris, and saw her running along with Prince. They clung onto me as soon as they reached me.
"Is daddy okay?"
I was about to say something, but a nurse came over to us and asked if we could take this to a private waiting room.
Then I noticed people looking at us, probably recognizing me. They started pulling out their phones to take pictures of the three of us.
"Mrs. Jackson," Javon appeared and put his hand on my lower back. "Let's go."
As he escorted us out of the ICU, I noticed Prince shedding a few tears.
"He'll be fine, honey. I'm sure of it." I whispered in his ear.
~
When we reached the waiting room, the entire Jackson family was already there.
It suddenly got quiet. They all looked at me like I was a stranger.
"Angela, come here." Katherine opened her arms for me.
She hugged me and the kids tightly before we were interrupted by Janet.
"Really, mother? You're hugging her?"
My mother-in-law ignored her and turned back to me, "Are you alright, honey?"
I shrugged, trying to stop myself from crying.
Janet snorted. "You really fooled us all. I knew you were no good from the minute you claimed to be his girlfriend."
"Janet-"
"No, mother. How are you not mad at this?"
"Your brother fainted, and we don't know what's happening with him," Katherine looked at her daughter. "We need to pray for him and hope that he's alright. We need to be together as a family. It's what Michael would want."
She helped me sit down, and my dad handed me a bottle of water.
"You'll see, honey, a doctor's gonna come any minute now to give us good news." Katherine reassured, rubbing my back.
~
It's been a couple of hours and all I could do was think of what might happen to my husband.
The tears burned my eyes as thoughts of something bad possibly happening filled my head.
I should've told him about the baby...
Then I felt it. That awful feeling in my stomach.
I ran to a nearby bathroom, making it just in time.
"Let it out, honey," Katherine rubbed my back soothingly. "When did you find out?"
"W- what?" I looked at her.
"You're pregnant, aren't you?"
I sighed, nodding. "I found out this morning. Just before we left the house."
"Did you tell Michael?"
"No," I admitted as she helped me on my feet. "I thought it would distract him. We were supposed to win today and take Prince and Paris home."
"Well, right now, they aren't going anywhere."
I smiled at her.
"Why aren't you mad at me?"
"Because I don't know who this Jake was, and how he knew my son, but I do believe he knew what he was doing when he wrote that will. You and Michael are one of the happiest couples I've ever seen. There's so much love between the two of you."
"I do love him. With all my heart."
Katherine grinned, "I never had a doubt in that."
"Mother?" Janet knocked on the bathroom door. "There's a doctor here. Michael woke up."
I hurried to open the door. My sister-in-law rolled her eyes at me.
"He asked for you."
I pushed past her, meeting the doctor Janet talked about. He introduced himself and said Michael wanted to see me.
"Mom, we wanna come with you!" Paris said.
"Baby, I don't think that's a good idea... I promise you'll see your daddy soon, okay? But right now I have to go alone."
She nodded and hugged me tight.
"I'll be back." I kissed her hair.
~
Michael: I rubbed my forehead as Dr. Moore left. My head hurt like crazy, it was never this bad before.
When I woke up, the doctor explained what happened, and asked if I wanted anyone to be here with me. I told him to get Angela.
The hospital room door opened, revealing my wife.
"You're okay," she ran over and hugged me tightly. "I was so worried."
I caressed her hair, "Of course I'm okay."
She pulled away to give me a kiss.
Dr. Moore cleared his throat. "Um, Mr. Jackson, I would like to go over some things with you."
"Everything's fine, right?" Angela asked him.
"Not exactly," he said. "We ran some tests before he woke up, and I have some disturbing news."
"Disturbing news?" I shifted a little.
"Mr. Jackson, you have an aneurysm in the right side of your brain. I believe it's what caused you to pass out. It's pressing a nerve, and the high stress you were under also helped."
"What do we do?" I questioned.
He sat down in front of the two of us. "Well, you have two options. Either rest a lot so your blood pressure would go down, or I can take you into surgery to remove the aneurysm. It's a very simple operation. I rather do the surgery, I'm afraid it'll rupture at some point. And if that happens..."
I looked at Angela. She had tears in her eyes, making me grab her hand.
"Give us a minute, please?" I told Dr. Moore and he nodded.
When he left, Angela burst into tears.
"Baby, why are you crying?" I asked, pulling her to me. "I'll be fine. It's a simple operation. You heard him."
"What if something happens?" she whimpered.
"Nothing will happen."
It was quiet for a while until I heard mumble something like "I'm pregnant."
"What?" I looked down at her.
She pulled away and wiped her tears, "I'm pregnant. I found out this morning."
"I knew something was going on. Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want you distracted."
I bit my bottom lip.
"We're gonna have another baby?" I smiled at her.
"Mike," Angela looked me straight in the eyes. "I don't think I could do this again. You saw how AJ's pregnancy went... And now who knows what might happen to you."
"Nothing's going to happen." I said again.
"Even if nothing happens, we just had a baby... I can't go through another pregnancy."
I knew how AJ's pregnancy worn her out. We weren't planning on another baby. I didn't even think she would actually get pregnant again, but now that she is... How could I not be excited?
"What if I..." Angela started suggesting, but stopped herself as soon as she met my eyes. "Just forget it. We'll talk about this later. We should focus on you."
I scanned her with my eyes. She didn't want this baby, and nothing I could say or do was going to convince her otherwise.
"Yeah, we should focus on me. I need to get better so I be there for you and the kids."
Angela grinned and kissed me. It was that kind of kiss that made me melt a little inside.
"I love you." she whispered against my lips.
"I love you more," I cooed. "Maybe you should call Prince and Paris in here, so they wouldn't worry."
She nodded, standing up. "I'll be right back."
I leaned back into my pillow as she left. I still can't believe she's pregnant again.
~
Angela smiled slightly at Paris who sat on my lap.
"So... What's wrong with dad?" Prince asked.
"He, uh," my wife stroked his hair. "He has to have surgery."
Paris looked at me worriedly. "What? Why?"
"I have something bad in my brain and the nice doctor has to take it out." I explained.
"Are they going to cut your hair?"
I laughed at her question, "Probably."
"No! I love your hair!"
Angela laughed along with me, but her grin soon faded. I could tell she was thinking about what's going to happen to me.
"I should go home and get the other kids." she said quickly and looked away.
"They're already on their way with Grace, baby. Javon informed me that they'll be here soon enough."
Angela sighed. "You're always a step ahead of me, huh?"
I only gave her a wink.
"So... What's going to happen to us?" Prince suddenly asked.
"What do you mean, honey?" my wife scrunched her eyebrows.
"Is Debbie taking us away?"
"We don't know yet..." I said.
Angie cleared her throat, "I could go talk to Rob, he's sitting outside with the family."
"Baby, we can sort it out later. Right now I'd rather have us all together."
"Yeah, mom, stay. Please." Paris smiled widely at her step mother.
"Fine," Angela said, returning Paris's smile. "But only because you asked."
She scooted closer to the children and I then took my hand in hers.
~
Luciano: I waited with my family and the rest of the Jackson family in the waiting room.
The doctor said there can't be too many people with him. He hasn't explained what Michael had exactly, but we all knew it wasn't good.
Janet got up and started pacing again. She's been doing it ever since we got here.
"I can't believe they let her in instead of us. We're his family. She's just a gold digger who looked for some comfort after her husband died."
"Hold up," I stood and walked in front of her. "My sister is no gold digger. She loves Michael with all her heart. She didn't marry him for the money."
Janet rolled her eyes at me, "Maybe, but this Jake or whoever he is sure knew what he was doing, telling her to go marry my brother."
"This Jake was my brother-in-law, and I will not let you speak like that about him or my sister. I don't care how she and Michael got together, but they are happy. And that's all that matters."
"Son, calm down." Dad put a hand on my shoulder.
Suddenly, the door opened, revealing Grace and the rest of Michael's and Angela's kids. They were accompanied by a bodyguard whom I recognized as Javon.
"Where's daddy?" Blanket asked as soon as he came in.
"I'll take you to him," Katherine smiled at her grandson. "He's just down the hall with your mother, brother and sister."
Grace, who was holding AJ, followed her quickly.
Eric and Lily hurried to give my parents and I a hug before following as well.
The tension in the room rose again, and I eyed Janet. She just rolled her eyes again.
~
Angela: Michael was just telling Prince and Paris a joke as the door to his room flew open.
"Daddy!" Blanket ran over to us, climbed on the bed, then hugged Michael as hard as he could.
"Blanket," my husband gasped. "I can't breathe."
I laughed at the two of them.
Looking around the room at my big family, I couldn't help but keep my grin on. We were still together, despite what was happening.
Then I realized, we can't have this baby. No matter how much either of us wanted it. There was just too much going on.
Michael was hospitalized, about to go into surgery, while we didn't know what was going to happen to Prince and Paris. Another baby is out of our limits.
Scared that I might regret my decision, I knew I needed to get out of here, somehow.
"Mike," I whispered in his ear. "I'm gonna go home and get you some clothes, okay?"
"I can ask Javon to do that, Angie. I want you here." Michael smiled.
"I know, but I want to do this. Please. Javon doesn't know where your comfy clothes are, right?"
"No, he doesn't," he sighed. "Fine, go. But be back soon okay?"
"I promise."
He kissed me and I said goodbye to the children. I hurried to leave with Javon as fast as I could.
"Javon, do you remember where Dr. Haring's clinic is?" I asked once we were in the car.
He looked at suspiciously through the rear view mirror. "Yeah... Why?"
"Take me there." I ordered.
I took out my phone, searching for Dr. Haring's number.
~
"Are you sure you want to do this, Angela?"
I nodded.
"Okay." Dr. Haring sighed.
"Michael can't know about this." I said.
He didn't say anything, only asked me to take off my clothes and get into a robe.
Once I was dressed, I lay on the bed. I took in a shaky breath as I propped my feet up on the stirrups.
My doctor cleared his throat, "I'm just going to do an ultrasound, so we can know what week you are-"
"No," I cut him off. "I don't want to know. Just... Get it over with."
He nodded. "Alright."
With the help of a nurse, he put a barrier in front of me so I wouldn't see the procedure.
"You're going to feel a slight pinch, Angela," Dr. Haring said. "Just some anesthesia. Take a deep breath."
I flinched as I felt the needle in my skin, and a tear rolled down my cheek.
