Michael is 48, Angela is 43

Michael: Water were still running down Angela's legs as I helped her get to the shower.

I turned it on the warm water so she could clean up.

"Debbie is in so much trouble." I said, stripping her out of her bathing suit.

"Mike, I'm 37 weeks pregnant, maybe this happened naturally..." Angela closed her eyes and I knew a contraction was starting.

"You're defending her?" I asked. "She pushed you to the ground, Angela, there's no way this happened naturally."

"I'm not defending her, I'm just saying, I went into labor before, maybe AJ thought it was finally time- Oohhhh..." she moaned.

Angela put two hands on the shower wall and swayed her hips slowly. "I got this, you go call an ambulance, or anyone, really..."

"I can't leave you alone like this." I told her and pressed hard into her lower back.

"You have to, I'll clean myself off... Just go call someone."

I sighed, knowing I have no choice. I hurried to dry off before quickly turning on my phone and calling Javon.

"Where are you?" I asked him.

"Still here, sir, like you instructed me to. Everything alright?" he said.

"Angela's water broke. Get a car, we're going to the hospital."

"Yes, sir. I'll be up in a minute to help you."

I hung up, then saw Angela walk calmly out of the bathroom with a towel around her.

I watched as she picked out some comfortable clothes to wear, and got dressed.

"How are you so calm about this? AJ is coming." I said.

"We have time. Remember, the twins' labor lasted an entire night ... She won't come so soon," my wife smile. "You need to get dressed, too... I don't think it's appropriate for the father to be in swim shorts when his daughter is coming out."

I rolled my eyes at her before doing as she told.

~

Angela: I grabbed Michael's hand as another contraction started.

"Deep breaths, baby..." he ran his hands all over my back.

"Can you drive faster?" I asked Javon when the pain increased.

"Sorry, Mrs. Jackson, I'm already going way too fast..."

"You better tell him to speed up or I'm having this baby here." I told Michael.

My contractions were only 7 minutes apart, and I realized I wouldn't have much time before I need to push. Which meant no epidural for me.

Michael nodded before talking calmly to our bodyguard and he finally sped up.

We saw UCLA Medical center after an additional 15 minutes in the car, and a couple more contractions.

I sighed in relief and leaned back, suddenly becoming impatient to meet my baby girl.

~

"Eight centimeters," Dr. Haring said when he checked me. "When did your water break?"

"Like two hours ago, maybe..." I took in a deep breath when a contraction built up.

"Remember, long inhales and pant when you exhale. I'll go see if your baby's kidney was already transferred here."

I totally forgot about that. And now that he mentioned it, I couldn't help but over think about what could happen to AJ.

He patted my leg before leaving, and Michael came back with a couple of sandwiches in his hands.

"Javon got these from the cafeteria," my husband said and put a sandwich in my hand. "Eat."

I shook my head, "I can't, I'll just throw it up later. I'm too nervous."

"About what? We've had babies before."

"But this time it's different... She'll have to go into surgery right after she comes out."

"I know," he sighed and put his large hand on my stomach. "But I'm sure she'll be fine, Angie."

He's right, I'm just being paranoid. These are some of the best surgeons in the county.

"Now eat. The last time you ate was at breakfast."

Michael helped me sit up, and unwrapped my sandwich for me.

I smiled at him before taking a bite. "This is good."

He chuckled, "I'm glad you like it."

There was a knock on the door, and both my mother and Katherine came in.

"We came as soon as we heard," my mother-in-law said. "Are you okay?"

"She's alright, mother." Michael hurried to assure her.

This scene seemed way too familiar and it took me back a year and five months ago, to when the twins were born.

"Where are the kids?" I asked and took another bite of my sandwich.

"At Janet's, with Grace." my mom answered with a smile.

Another contraction started, and I closed my eyes shut.

"Mother, I think it's time for you and Maria to go back to the waiting room," Michael rubbed my arm. "I got this."

Thankfully, both our mothers didn't refuse to leave, and I let out a groan when they were gone.

"That one really hurt."

"Aww, I'm sorry, babe... But think about it, soon enough AJ's gonna be here."

I gave him a very small smile before putting my head back on the pillow.

~

Michael: A couple more hours passed by. Angela was moaning and groaning loudly, and her forehead was way sweatier than before.

As her contractions got closer together and lasted longer, her attitude became worse, too.

"Just come out already!" Angela let out a very frustrated groan. With two hands on her lower back, she walked around the hospital room, and I followed her.

She would occasionally lean on me when a contraction came, while whining about how much she wishes this was over.

"Go press that damn button again." Angela ordered and waddled back to the bed.

"Baby, Dr. Haring checked you thirty minutes ago," I told her. "You're still at nine centimeters. So just relax and let your body do its work."

I've pressed that button at least four times these past two hours, and each time our doctor told her she can't push yet.

My wife rolled her eyes, "Michael, you better press that goddamn button, I know what I'm feeling, and this isn't just regular pressure."

"Fine, but I'm not responsible if they tell you you're not ready."

I pressed the green button next to the bed, and waited for Dr. Haring and a nurse to come in.

When they did, I was surprised to find out Angela actually finally made it.

"Michael, hold her leg up," the doctor instructed. "And her hand."

Still a little overwhelmed that I'm about to meet my baby girl, I did as he said and let Angela squeeze my hand.

~

"Another big push, Angela..." Dr. Haring said, making my wife lean forward again. "The head is almost out."

"I can't..." Angela cried.

She's been pushing for the last 25 minutes, but there was almost no progress.

"Come on, Angie, you gave natural birth to twins, one little baby is nothing compared to that." I encouraged her.

"Little?! She's huge, why do you think it's taking her so long?!" my wife barked at me. "This is all your fault, you wanted another baby, I was just fine with Rose and Jared..."

I knew it was just the pain talking, so I helped her lean forward when a contraction came.

She was holding back a scream, and I smiled widely when I looked in between her legs to see the head coming out almost completely.

I gasped when I saw that big head Prince had when he was born.

"What?" Angela asked when she stopped pushing.

"You were right, she is really big... Her head, it's just like Prince's." I answered.

"Does she have curls?"

I nodded, "Just like Rose."

Angela smiled slightly at me, but it soon faded when another contraction began.

Dr. Haring told her to push again, and this time she didn't hesitate to scream.

"I hate you so much right now..." she squeezed my hand tighter.

A few more pushes later, AJ was crying on my wife's chest.

"A baby girl, born on July 18th, at 6:47 PM." the nurse recorded.

Angela kissed me. "She's here, Mike... And she's beautiful..."

"Do you still hate me?" I asked as we adored our new daughter.

"Shut up." Angela sniffled.

AJ was the perfect mixture of Angela and I; she had my hair and my lips, but her small nose and her eye shape was Angela's.

I cut the cord, and then Dr. Haring said they have to take her into surgery.

"We can't even have another minute?" Angela questioned as the nurse took our baby girl away.

He shook his head, "They want to do the transplant as soon as possible."

I wiped her tears as we watched AJ leave, and assured her everything will be fine.

~

"They should've told us something already." Angela sighed and tapped her fingers impatiently on the bed railings.

"I know." I rubbed my face. It was like Prince all over again. When he was born, they took him away for five hours and I didn't know what was going on with him.

Angela took my hand and held it until a knock on the door was heard.

Our seven kids came in and hurried to ask where their baby sister is.

"She'll be here soon." I told them.

Rose and Jared asked to climb on Angela's bed, Blanket sat on my lap, and the our four older children surrounded us.

"What does she look like?" Paris asked excitedly.

"She has Prince's head," Angela smiled at me. "And she's a real mixture, she kinda looks like everyone..."

"What did she get from me, mommy?" Blanket said.

"Your cute smile."

Blanket showed his smile that looked like mine, making Angela laugh.

Another knock on the door was heard and a nurse came in. Angela sat up, "Is she okay?"

"Your baby girl is perfectly fine," she said. "The transplant went smoothly, and she's recovering beautifully. You'll be able to see her very soon."

I sighed in relief and hugged Blanket. "Thank you so much."

The nurse smiled before leaving.

"Daddy, you're hugging me too hard..." my son complained and tried wiggling out of my hold.

"I'm sorry, Blanket, I'm just so happy..." I told him.

"But daddy..."

Angela laughed at us again, and I couldn't help but think of how lucky I got.

~

Angela: Michael rolled me into the NICU where there were a few more couples with their newborn babies.

"She's right here," Dr. Haring said, taking us to the incubator where AJ was hooked to so many tubes. "She'll have to stay here for about a week until she's fully recovered, and so we can monitor the kidney's activity, if it's functioning correctly."

Michael rubbed my shoulders as we looked at our daughter who was still sleeping peacefully.

The doctor smiled down at her, "You can touch her, but very carefully."

I carefully stood up and washed my hands before putting one of them through the hole. AJ grabbed my finger, making my eyes water.

"Hi, AJ, I'm your mommy..." I whispered.

Michael gently hugged me. "We love you, baby girl."

Michael: "Kids, we're home!" Angela said as we walked inside the house.

AJ stirred against my chest and I looked down at her. She opened her eyes, making me smile, but soon closed them again.

She recovered amazingly well during this week and we were finally able to take the newest addition to our family home. They even said her scar should disappear soon.

"AJ!" Lily and Paris ran to me.

"Shhh, she's sleeping." I said.

"Can we hold her, daddy?" Paris asked, looking at me with her big blue eyes.

"She has to eat first, girls," Angela told them. "But right after that you can hold her as much as you want."

Lily huffed. "Fine."

"I'll go feed her." my wife held out her hands and I gave her our baby.

"Come on, girls, let's go see where your brothers are." I said and took the girls to the living room.

"Daddy, are we going to court tomorrow?" Paris questioned.

I nodded, "Yes, baby."

"I can't wait for Angela to officially be my mom."

"Me too."

I kissed her head and told her and Lily to look for the boys and Rose, before going to see how Angela and AJ were doing.

"You are one hungry baby..." my wife whispered to our baby girl.

"Just like Jared." I smiled at them.

I took seat on the floor in front of Angela and rubbed her knee. "She came out perfect."

"Yeah, she did."

Angela kissed AJ's forehead, then looked back at me.

"I love you, Mike."

"I love you, too, Angie."
