00. blood-stained lips
HER POV
I allow my eyes to wonder around the room, bouncing from man to man. It seems like it will be a very slow night. I am not surprised though as it is a Tuesday night. I sense the ghostly presence of a hand on my shoulder and I turn around just in time before the oncoming figure lays his hand on me.
"Hello, pretty lady," he slurs out with a curvy smile playing on his lips.
My eyes wonder down to the clear drink in his hand—vodka. My lips twist into a sexy smirk. I look up at the drunken man through my curled lashes. In slow, but stealthy motion I run my hand up his arm and to his shoulder.
"Aren't you going to ask me to dance, hot stuff?" I ask in the most flirtatious tone I can muster. I push back my auburn brown hair to expose my bosom. Immediately his gaze falls down and his smile grows. "C'mon darling."
I grab a hold of his hand and lead him toward the center of the club where the glowing dance floor is set up. With a new found confidence, the red-haired male snakes his hand around my waist and pulls me close to his chest. As we bounce to the music, I use our proximity to my advantage. I slowly slither my hand down his back to his rear pockets. I gently pat one side and my smirk grows when I feel a lump. I sneak my hand inside and slip out the brown leather wallet in one quick motion.
"I can't b-believe a girl as hot as you is dancing with me," he states with an excited smile.
"Really?" I ask feigning a look of shock.
In reality, the male is not ugly, but he for sure is not my type. I am quite certain his ginger curls and freckle-peppered face will captivate a very special girl someday, but today is not that day. I discreetly slip the wallet into my knee-high boots before gently pushing the man away and putting some much needed space between us.
"You are just so beautiful," he murmurs as he looks down at me with a love-struck glint in his emerald eyes. "Can I kiss you?"
"I don't th—" he cuts my sentence short with his lips. I scrunch my nose as I feel his kisses getting sloppier. Finally having enough, I part my lips and bite down on his lip with great force.
"What the hell!" He exclaims startling some of the people around us. He touches his sore lip and finds his finger stained with a few droplets of blood.
I give him an innocent look. "I forgot to tell you," I hum. "I bite."
I blow him a kiss before turning on my heel and strutting away. I could feel the leather wallet pressed against my leg and smug expression falls onto my face.
Once I am far enough, I reach down into my boot and pull out the wallet. A fake ID greets me as I open it up. I shake my head with an amused smile. I take my search deeper and find a couple of twenty dollar bills and two singles. Feeling generous, I only take forty two dollars out and leave the rest inside. I tuck the money into my bosom and close the wallet.
"I found this wallet on the floor," I say nonchalantly as I drop the wallet onto the bar-counter.
"Such a nice citizen," a voice filled with sarcasm replies.
I slide onto the wooden stool and grin innocently at the raven-haired boy in front of me—Derek Santos. He is a part-time bartender that I met on my second night hunting in this club and the only person that caught up to my acts. He does not judge my way of getting money though and in fact admires my actions.
"One piña colada, please," I request as I hand him a twenty-dollar bill. Derek raises a curious brow.
"Now where did you get that money from?" He asks aiming to give me a scolding gaze, but the slight lift at the corner of his lips proves he is amused rather than mad.
"It's my hard earned money," I defend with an innocent shrug.
"Girl, one of these days you are going to get caught," he says in a warning tone as he begins preparing my drink.
"Maybe," I muse. "But until then, I'll keep doing what I'm doing."
Derek hands me a tall glass filled with a creamy white, icy liquid. A small umbrella rests next to the neon pink straw. I wrap my lips around the straw and savor the fruity taste.
"You know I can always get you a job here right?" Derek comments casually with a hopeful look in his hazel green eyes.
"Although grateful, I have to pass the offer," I pick up my drink and take another sip, craving for something stronger to make me forget the memories. "I can't have my name put out there."
Derek drew his brows together, tilting his head to the side in a confused manner.
"You aren't some sort of undercover spy?" He jokes. "Or one of those people running away from a dark past."
I roll my eyes at his teasing tone. Even though, he is joking, he is correct about the latter.
"Neither of them," I lie and Derek let's go of the subject.
"So, who is your next victim?"
I look around the room and purse my lips. "Everyone here is either coupled up already or way to young to be here," I pout.
"What about him?" Derek motions to a man standing on the far left of the room. As if sensing our gaze, he turns to us.
I lock eyes with him and the corner of my lip begins to rise. "Bingo," I murmur.
