The Date
(Y/n) (l/n) straightened his kippah as he looked at it in the car mirror. "Alright" he whispered to himself as he tried to feel confident and failed. "It's just your first date... no need to worry" he wished he could believe himself. He quickly turned his head as he noticed Kamala exit through her window in the corner of his eye. Kamala was wearing the same outfit she had worn when the two had first met.
Kamala stretched her legs until they reached the ground, they then shrank back to her normal height and she walked towards (y/n)'s car. He unlocked the doors and she got in on the passenger's side. "I didn't know you had a car" she smiled as she buckled her seatbelt.
"I don't" (y/n) replied with a shrug. "But I do have parents who's car I can steal from time to time" he smiled as he shifted the car into drive and pulled away from the girls house. "What did you tell your parents you'd be doing tonight?"
"Playing games with Nakia and Bruno at Nakia's house" Kamala replied with a small frown. She didn't like lying to her parents. "Nakia promised to cover for me if they call her"
(Y/n) nodded in response. "She's a good friend" Kamala's frown turned into a small smile after hearing that.
"What did you tell your parents you were doing?" Kamala asked curiously. She was no doubt expecting some elaborate lie.
"Unlike you I'm the oldest child. I just grabbed the car keys and yelled bye" (y/n) shrugged as he continued driving. Kamala seemed a bit disappointed with the story but accepted it.
"So they really didn't mind you just taking off?" Kamala asked after a couple moments. (Y/n) just shrugged in response. "If I just disappeared I'd be grounded for life" Kamala shook her head"
"Well your the youngest" (y/n) replied with a shrug. "The baby of the family" he turned on the turn signal and a moment later turned a corner.
"I'm no baby" Kamala shook her head.
"Sure you aren't" (y/n) replied with a teasing tone of voice. He then spoke incredibly quickly. "Babysayswhat?"
"What?" Kamala asked with a confused look. (Y/n) smiled and Kamala's eyes widened when she realized what had just happened. "You jerk!" She hit his shoulder playfully.
An hour later
Kamala's head lay to the side as she snored quietly. She had fallen asleep in the middle of their conversation half an hour earlier. (Y/n) shook his head, she must have been up all night doing superhero stuff if she fell asleep that quickly.
(Y/n) noticed a parking spot and pulled into it. He looked up at the building in front of them and gently shook Kamala awake. "Kamala?" She slowly opened her eyes and yawned. "Sorry about how long that took... didn't take traffic into account"
Kamala rubbed her eyes sleepily. "It's fine. 'Twas a good nap" she yawned again before looking at the building in front of them. "Avengers tower?"
"It's where we met. From what I know of women you all like sappy stuff like that" Kamala shook her head with a laugh at the way he said that.
"As long as there's food I'll be happy" she smiled as (y/n) unlocked the car doors.
"In that case you should be happy enough" (y/n) nodded as the two simultaneously exited the car. "The food awaits" (y/n) motioned for Kamala to walk in front of him.
Once inside the two walked over to the elevator and entered it. (Y/n) hit the button and the doors closed. "So... what do people talk about on dates?" Kamala asked as she looked down at her hands.
"I'd assume the same things they usually talk about" (y/n) replied with a shrug. "I've never done this before"
"Well I guess that makes two of us" Kamala nodded as she looked back up at (y/n). "So... how was work?"
"Work?" (Y/n) asked as he shook his head. "You do know I don't have a job right?" Kamala was silent. "You burst in on me at any hour of the day and you never realized I don't have a job" Kamala just gave an awkward smile. "Oy vey"
"Well you don't know everything about me" Kamala replied as the elevator door opened.
"Well I know you don't have a job" (y/n) joked as they exited the elevator. Kamala shook her head and looked around. The two were now standing on one of the buildings balconies, a few feet ahead of them was a table with food out waiting for them.
"Ooh" Kamala salivated as she looked at the meal on the table. (Y/n) chuckled and the two sat down across from one another. "I can't have the wine though" she pointed to a bottle in the center of the table. "It's haram"
"Really?" (Y/n) asked curiously as he looked at the bottle. "Mind if I have?" Kamala shrugged. "There's is no joy without wine and meat" (y/n) grabbed the bottle and opened it. "That's a saying my dad told me is a saying in my religion" he poured a cup for himself. "I don't drink much but still" he shrugged.
Kamala nodded in response. "I guess that's just another way we were raised differently" she picked up a piece of bread from her plate and took a bite.
"Guess so" (y/n) nodded in response before taking a sip from his cup. "You can drive right?" He asked after realizing he probably shouldn't drive if he were to drink.
"Nope" Kamala shook her head as she grabbed a pitcher of water and poured some. "Not well at least"
"I'll teach you. That can be our next date" Kamala smiled at the fact that the boy was already planning the second date.
"Works for me" Kamala sipped her water with a smile.
