Jersey City
(Y/n) grimaced as he looked around. "Have I ever told you how much I dislike cities?"
"Yes. Five times now" Kamala replied as she walked down the street side by side with her friend. "Don't worry, I'm a hero, if you get robbed I can save you"
"You're not exactly putting my mind at ease" (y/n) sighed as he glanced towards a nearby alleyway.
After the past couple times where Kamala had gone to (y/n)'s town they decided to spend this time in Jersey City, Kamala's home city. (Y/n) hated it.
Kamala laughed at her friends nervousness. "Relax! I've lived here my entire life and never gotten mugged"
"Fine" (y/n) crossed his arms and continued walking, still wearily though. "So what're our plans for today?"
"Well first things first" Kamala spoke as she nodded toward a house they were approaching. "I figured since you showed me your house I'd show you mine"
(Y/n) nodded and they stopped in front of the house. He nodded thoughtfully before speaking. "Now I see why you and Nakia thought my house was huge" Kamala punched her friends shoulder before walking towards the door. "Be warned, if my family comes back you will probably need to hide or exit through the window"
"They don't like Jews?" (Y/n) asked, more curious than offended.
"They don't like me being around boys they don't know" Kamala corrected him. (Y/n) nodded in understanding and Kamala opened the door.
Once inside (y/n) looked around and nodded. "I've never been in a house this... cozy" Kamala walked over to the couch and threw a pillow at him. (Y/n) caught the pillow before setting it back down and sitting next to Kamala.
"Just be happy I was able to find a time for you to come over" Kamala shook her head. "My parents can NEVER know about this" she emphasized the word never.
"Are you sure you can keep this a secret from them?" (Y/n) asked as he crossed his arms.
"What do you mean?" Kamala asked with a look of confusion.
"You aren't exactly great at keeping secrets" (y/n) replied as he crossed his arms. "I mean just about everyone in your life knows your secret identity right?"
Kamala huffed. "Shut up. I can keep a secret" she stood up and motioned for the boy to stand as well. "Let's go to my room. That way if my parents come back they won't see you"
"Smart" (y/n) nodded and stood up slowly.
"Just don't go through my stuff" Kamala spoke quickly as she walked to the stairs and started going up them.
"You mean like how you went through all my stuff?" (Y/n) crossed his arms as he followed after Kamala.
"Exactly" Kamala replied with a nod. "Just because I saw your underwear doesn't mean you get to see mine" she finished climbing the stairs and went towards her room.
"You went through my underwear drawer?" (Y/n) asked with a laugh causing Kamala to stop in her tracks.
"...no?" She blushed before quickly walking again and speeding up as she entered her room.
"I knew I shouldn't have left you alone in there when I went to get you that cup of water"
"I didn't know what it was when I opened it!" Kamala claimed defensively.
"Sure, sure" (y/n) shook his head and followed Kamala into her room. "Wow" he whispered as he looked around. "That's a lot of superhero stuff" Kamala's room was a black hole of Captain marvel merchandise, sloths plushies, and other assorted superhero shit.
Kamala smiled widely. "Cool Huh?" She spun around and motioned to everything around them as she did so. "Welcome to paradise!"
"It's certainly something" (y/n) nodded in approval as he walked over to Kamala's desk and picked up a stuffed Spider-Man. He looked over the object in his hands. "You got Spider-Man to actually sign this? Neat"
Kamala's smile widened at the memory. "Yeah. Spidey's a really nice guy" she watched as (y/n) placed the stuffed spidey back on her desk.
(Y/n) walked over to Kamala's bed and sat down on it. "So where do you keep it?" (Y/n) asked as he looked around. "Obviously somewhere your parents wouldn't find it"
"The kippah you let me have?" Kamala asked, a moment later she received a nod from the boy. "Under my hijabs" she pointed to the top drawer of her dresser.
"What's a hijab?" (Y/n) asked as he tilted his head.
"Head covering. Like what Nakia wears" Kamala walked towards the dresser and pulled out a light purple one.
"Oh. I didn't think you wore one... you know... on account of me never seeing you in one" (y/n) shrugged as he watched Kamala put the hijab on.
"I only wear it when I'm in the mosque" she replied with a shrug as she finished putting it on. "How do I look?" She smiled as she twirled around once again so he got a three sixty view of it.
(Y/n) smiled as he looked the girl over. "Really cute actually" he blurted out without thinking about it. The two quickly broke eye contact as they blushed at what he said.
"Thanks" Kamala's blush quickly faded and she turned back to her friend. She thought she saw a blush on his face but it was gone just as quickly as she saw it.
"No problem" (y/n) looked back up at Kamala as she walked over to the bed and sat beside him. "Is that comfortable?" (Y/n) asked as he reached out to touch the hijab but stopped before he did.
"You can touch it" Kamala nodded and the boy felt the soft fabric. "It's comfortable enough, I just usually prefer the freedom of not wearing it" Kamala spoke, subconsciously leaning into the boys hand. (y/n) nodded in understanding, not noticing what Kamala was doing.
(Y/n) let go of the fabric and lowered his hand back to his side. "That did feel pretty comfortable" he nodded as he looked back towards one of the stuffed sloths across the room.
"Yeah. I-" Kamala was cut off by the sound of a door downstairs. "Uh oh" she whispered as she got up and ran to the window. She looked down and saw her parents walking inside. She quickly ran back over to (y/n) and pulled him off of the bed. "Hide! I'll see if they're going back out" She whispered as she pulled her hijab off and threw it to the bed.
"Where?" (Y/n) asked as he looked around. Kamala quickly opened the closet and pushed him in between a couple dresses. She closed the closet door and a moment later (y/n) heard her bedroom door open.
"Ammi? Abu?" Kamala called out before closing her bedroom door behind her.
(Y/n) waited in complete silence for a couple minutes before he heard the bedroom door open again. "They're leaving again. Just came back to get something" Kamala whispered as she opened the closet door. "And to inadvertently give me a heart attack"
"Well that's what parents are for" (y/n) replied with a shrug as he exited the closet. "In my experience at least"
Kamala nodded in agreement. She picked up her hijab from the bed before putting it away. "Maybe we should leave. That way this doesn't happen again"
"Whatever you want" (y/n) replied as he sat down on the bed.
Kamala was silent for a moment. "Or maybe we can stay here for a while and just relax" she sat down beside him and leaned against the wall.
(Y/n) nodded and leaned back as well, back against the wall and head beside Kamala's.
