Separate Paths
Emma waited behind the wall. As Lara and Regina reunited, she thought about her. The girl, young but beautiful, strong and brave. The face of innocence, emphasised by those brown eyes, and the hair of a darker shade which she held into a high ponytail. Then the tight tank she wore under that large, white jacket, and the small area of cleave she could see from the small unzipped part of Regina's jacket, the holy grail of Regina's body. Probably. She hadn't seen anything else yet.
'Stop.' She told herself.
She stood silently behind the wall, waiting until the sisters fell asleep.
The noise had gone. She crept through the tunnel and past the camp, seeing Regina lying next to her sister, fast asleep. She couldn't just leave her like that. She slowly bent down next to her, closely, and kissed her gently on the cheek before getting up and slowly moving back through the cave.
Regina opened her eyes. Those lips, she may have only touched them once but they were unrecognisable. She smiled and quietly stood up to see the soldier leaving. As much as she wanted to call her name, Lara still lay asleep, so she quickly stepped through to her, and tapped her on the shoulder, whispering her name as she did.
"Emma,"
Emma took the brunette's hand and pulled her around the corner, her lower arm around Regina's waist as her upper arm supported Regina's head. Regina gripped firmly onto the soldier, recovering her breath from that shocking move. She smiled as she looked up into the blonde's eyes, and the soldier looked into the girl's.
"Don't go." Regina whispered.
"I have to." Emma replied.
"Come back for me."
"I promise."
"Swear on your life?"
"Swear on my life."
Regina grinned and she was pulled back up from her heels. She placed her hand in Emma's and kissed her on the cheek, as it was the highest place she could reach.
"Don't forget me." She removed her hand, leaving a small piece of paper in the hands of the soldier as she walked backwards, still watching the soldier, who stood watching her. She bent down and lay next to her sister, zipping up the sleeping bag as quietly as she could. She waved to the soldier as she placed her head on the small pillow, as the soldier turned around to head back to headquarters as fast as she could.
Emma crept through the cave, before placing her hand in a crack in the wall and pulling herself up as she placed a foot in. She grabbed the top of the pit and climbed out. As she left the cave she was hit by the cold, below winds of Siberia, as the snow fell. It thickened, making it much harder for her to walk through, but she still continued. The snow was now knee deep, but she'd reached her snowmobile's location. She looked behind the wall and hopped on. The piece of paper she was given was put into her zipped pocket, as she removed the keys. She looked at the lock, as she thought about the young brunette girl.
"I will find you." She whispered to herself , as she hit the lock hard to break the ice, turned the key and began to ride through the wilderness.
Boston, one year ago.
"Babe," Emma stretched as she saw her girlfriend wake up.
"Hey, my little soldier." She touched Emma's face and stroked her cheek. She kissed her gently on the lips, but Emma wanted more. She put her hands around her girlfriend's waist and pulled her inwards, pecking at her lips.
"Shit," Emma said, as her phone's alarm rang.
"What's wrong?" Her girlfriend said, pulling away from the love.
"I'm gonna be late for work."
"Emma, you're so invested in your work. When are you gonna take a day off? You know, spend a little time with me?" She took Emma's hand.
"Lucky for you, I have all this week off after today."
The brown haired girl smiled at this fact. A week alone with her girlfriend, no distractions, she couldn't wait.
Emma was finishing off by putting her Trinity uniform on. She was about to pull the black thermal shirt over her head when something, or rather someone got in the way.
"Lily," Emma could feel herself getting weaker by the minute as the girl licked her breasts gently with her arms around the blonde's waist. Emma pulled the shirt over the girl as she continued. Emma held her head and fell straight onto the bed with the girl wrapped in her shirt. "Oh god, don't stop."
Then she realised.
"Lily, stop, I have to go." Lily pulled herself out from under the soldier's shirt.
"Sorry, babe. Just getting ready for tonight, you know? I couldn't help myself."
"I know. I miss it oh so much. I promise, tonight is our night."
"Can't wait."
Emma kissed her light lips, and left, picking up her bag as she went.
As she walked down the stairs of their apartment building, she pulled her hair back into a low ponytail as she got into the car, turning the key in the lock and pressing her foot onto the gas.
Siberia, today.
Emma quickly applied the brake. She had almost crashed straight into the wall, and one dent on the vehicle would have cost her an entire month's wage. She couldn't have that happen, especially if she wanted to save up to buy something nice for that girl. She saw a small cave, and entered. The snarl of the wolves didn't scare her one bit. How else did she receive the title of Lieutenant, the one she liked to 'shove up people's assholes'? She smiled at the words of the girl as she took out her gun without any hesitation, shooting them down, and as they fell to the ground, she still couldn't stop thinking of the girl. How much she wanted her, how much she loved her.
"Don't be ridiculous, Swan." She whispered to herself. Regina probably had someone already, what with her being young, beautiful and- oh, shit. She'd just had a small affair with this girl. But she was sure the young brunette liked it. Thoughts clouded her mind of this girl, Regina Croft, and her life. It was probably none of her business, but she couldn't help herself.
As she thought of Regina, she lay her sleeping bag on the floor, with the pillow laying against the rock. She zipped it up as she sat leaning against it, pulling out her laptop and beginning her report. She plugged in her phone, imported the pictures and began tapping the keys.

She paused. She didn't have a long life remaining on this laptop but she had to do this report. Konstantin would kill her if she didn't. But a minute couldn't hurt, could it?
She hovered the mouse over Chrome, clicked the icon and typed.

She scrolled through the Google page. Facebook pages, for all the wrong person, incorrect addresses, and right at the bottom, a small box.
"Some results may have been removed due to Data Protection Law."
She sighed, and scrolled back up to the top. This time she tried something different.

She clicked on the first link, a news article.
"Another Crazy Croft?" The headline read. She skim read the article. Things about Lara... trying to follow in her dad's footsteps... claiming things about the Divine Source... finally, something about Regina.
"Lara Croft was recently spotted with a girl. When asked, Croft refused to comment, but said only that it was her sister. Look out, world, there's another Croft out there."
She returned to her Google search. The rest of the results were all crap. Oh well.
She began to wonder how the other Croft girl story only recently began to surface. And why did Regina have an American accent?
She became distracted by her thoughts of Regina. She felt her eyes closing, then darkness.
The light woke her up. The laptop sat on her lap. She opened her eyes before realising what had happened. She'd fallen asleep without finishing her report. And her laptop was dead.
She quickly packed up her things, ran outside and jumped onto her snowmobile.
As she reached the headquarters, she slowed down. She showed her ID and ran to the bunker, where she entered her room and quickly plugged in her laptop.
Within a few hours, she'd finished off her report, sent it off to the man in charge and tried searching for more information about Regina, but nothing. The blonde decided to sleep on it. She substituted her black pants for her jogging bottoms but left the turtleneck. She didn't want her neck to snap as she slept.
She lay down on the bed. It was only a temporary one, but it wasn't comfortable. How could she even try to sleep on it, especially with the brown haired young girl in her mind?
Regina woke up to the sound of Lara. She was digging through Regina's bag (and very loudly too), looking for something.
"Regina," Lara called her sister. "Did you take a picture of the codex?"
"Yeah..." she said half asleep. "My phone's somewhere in the bag."
"I can't find it." Regina got up, stretched and went to the bag which her sister began to empty out. No phone.
"Oh god." Regina sighed. Had the soldier led her on?
Lara took out her phone and opened the tracking app.
"You track my phone?!" Regina asked, shocked.
"Later, Regina." Lara replied.
"Lara!" Regina shouted, snatching the phone out of her sister's hand.
"I'm sorry, Regina. I'll disable it after. Just please, I need the codex."
Regina rolled her eyes and threw the phone. Lara quickly catched it and looked for the phone's location.
"It's in... a Trinity base... how did they get your phone?" Lara asked.
Regina paused to think. Maybe it was Lieutenant Swan. But she didn't want to rat her out... yet. Plus, she wanted to give her a piece of her mind.
"Maybe the soldier I killed... didn't actually die and he took my phone." She replied, after coming up with an excuse.
"It's fine, Regina. I don't want you living with the fact you've killed someone haunting you anyway. Now come."
"Where are we going?"
"To get your phone back."
