It was finally the weekend so I didn't have to go to work today. Which meant I could also spend time with Savannah since she wanted to go to the mall later. I already knew what she was up to, but knowing her, she would try to deny it.

I smiled at the idea of her and got out of bed to go to my bathroom. I cleaned myself up and walked back out to see her sitting on my bed with her legs and arms crossed.

"Okay either you're a makeshift Houdini or I took really long in the bathroom?" I pointed out and she laughed softly

Before she could say anything, I made my way to the closet and started picking out an outfit for the day since I know this conversation will end up with me leaving the house.

Unfortunately.

I opted for a gray full body dress since it was starting to get colder outside and gray suede ankle high boots that I got around the beginning of the month. It was finally about to be September, so I was actually glad about shopping for new winter and fall clothes. Right now, my closet was filled with summer wear.

"It's neither, I'm just excited and I need you to hurry up. I want to go shopping," She replied with her brown eyes popping to add exaggeration

"Savannah, why are you trying to go shopping all of a sudden. I know why I'm going but you never did say why you were." I pointed out with a playful grin on my face and she blushed but masked it by rolling her eyes

We both knew that she wanted him for the temporary satisfaction and that was probably why in the back of my mind, I settled on focusing on my work.

"I just wanted clothes Navehya, it's not even about Cole." She stated trailing off and I looked over my shoulder with a sarcastic look on my face

"I never did say his name sweetheart." I teased and her blush grew profusely

I almost bursted out laughing at the sight, but I held it in.

"Okay, damn bitch it is about Cole, he's fine as hell and I want to see him. Soooo what are we going to do? Go to the club!" She boosted as if her idea was the most obvious

My jaw slackened as I blankly stared at her waiting for her to say April Fools. It didn't come though.

"Savannah, that is a ridiculous idea. My face is literally plastered across every billboard in New York and I can't even walk out the office without the press swarming me. Going to the club is an easy target for some major trouble." I reminded her and she huffed

"I get that but you never have fun anymore. We used to go to the club all the time and–"

"That's because I was 19 and before my father passed away. 3 years ago was when I actually had nothing else to do,"

"But now it's 3 years later and you're working for your jackass of a brother who doesn't give you a break and you're clearly stressed every day you get back. You can't get mad at me for bringing up clubbing again."

"Savannah, I'm not getting mad. I just don't think it's a good idea." I insisted and she crossed her arms again looking at the floor

"I just wanted to hang out again. You leave me here all the time alone and you don't come back until nighttime. I'm bored out of my mind without you here and I was sick of it. Sorry if I sounded irrational to spend more time with my best friend." She mumbled and turned out the door to walk away making me sigh

Ugh.

I shook my head and walked after her and grabbed her by the arm.

"Fine, we can go, baby steps though okay. Tomorrow night we go clubbing and tonight we go shopping. Sounds fair?" I asked grinning as I saw her eyes slowly light up

"Hell yeah that's fine with me." She beamed with joy which made me smile even harder

"Good, now that we got that out of the way, you want to help me cook?" I suggested after hearing my stomach rumble

Absentmindedly, I checked my watch and almost cried when I saw it was almost noon. Usually I would've done so much by now if it was a weekday.

"Umm, if I burn down the house it's your fault?" She teased and I instantly regretted asking her for help

"How about you go watch TV?" I recommended sweetly

"Ugh fine, you're no fun." She huffed and crossed her arms again

"Thanks, now go." I answered and she stomped off while pouting like a toddler

God, she was so dramatic.

I shook my head and walked to the kitchen and as I started to get all the food prepped, deciding on homestyle fried chicken sandwiches, I heard the theme song of Spongebob. Confused I peaked my head through the door way to see her wrapped in a blanket eating fruit snacks.

"This bitch,"

"Navehya, oh my God, look at this beautiful two piece. It's dark blue!" I heard Savannah beam from the right of me

I suddenly regretted shopping with her.

She took the piece of clothing off the rack and shoved it in my arms without even looking at it herself.

This could've been a curtain shade for all I knew.

I rolled my eyes and held it up to where I could see it and realized that the two piece was actually pretty and would compliment my mocha skin tone nicely. There was also little crystal gems that outlined the set perfectly that gave me a waterfall like vibe. I smiled at her taste and bit my lip as I placed the piece in my cart.

"Uh huh, that'll get his attention." She teased and looked over her shoulder

I laughed aloud which caused all the shoppers to look at us and I pulled my shades over my eyes more in embarrassment.

She giggled in return and continued to look around for anything orange, her favorite color, and eventually moved around to the dress aisle.

"First of all, that joke wasn't funny. We came here so you can find something for Cole. I came here to buy dresses for work." I reminded her again and she looked at me with a sarcastic expression

"Then why is the two set in your cart then hun?" She asked and my jaw clenched tightly

"It's a pretty shade of blue and it's my favorite color. The detailing is beautiful too. That is all." I huffed and she still looked at me with a look that screamed she didn't believe me

"Whatever you say girl." She responded making me roll my eyes and continue to look at the business dresses

I saw a few that I liked that we're a variety of olive green, red, and black, and I started to pick them off the rack to determine which one I wanted to buy. As I glanced over them and their material, another dress that was a pretty wool army fatigue caught my eye, and I could instantly tell it would hug my frame.

Ugh I can't dec–

"Here bitch!" I heard from afar and before I could turn around, I felt a piece of cloth hit me on the head

Whatever it was, it was light, and I instantly assumed it was skimpy and alluring.

Angrily, I looked around to where I saw Savannah in the corner trying to contain her laughter and I had the thought to run up to her and strangle her right on the spot. As I calmed myself down, I delicately picked the cloth off my head and brung it down to eye level so I could examine it.

Once again, my thoughts were right since the dress resembled everything but. The dress was scrappy and revealing and when I held it up, I realized that the entire back was out.

She could not be serious.

I looked back to Savannah and held the dress against me and made a face at her as I mumbled, "this won't even cover up my ass". My sentence made her laugh even harder since she knew I was right, and again an elderly couple craned their necks to look at us in confusion and irritation.

I smiled sweetly at them and turned around with my lips pressed in a tight line and threw the dress back on the rack. I rolled my eyes playfully at her attempt to dress differently and continued shopping for dresses that were more appropriate for me and eventually found a gray dress that was knee length and resembled the one I was wearing now.

Smiling to myself, I placed it in my cart and moved around the metal bar to find another one, but in red and navy blue. Eventually I found them, but they were a little shorter for my taste.

Oh well, these will most likely be my only exceptions.

I pursed my lips in thought of the combinations I could make when out of no where, Savannah walked back over to me and brisked besides me closely making me crane my neck at her. I eyes her suspiciously, but turned my head back to the clothes I was looking at and picked up another dress that also caught my interest.

"Ugh, I'm bored, can we leave now?" She huffed as I continued to look through the dresses

I looked in her cart to see a handful of clothing, but when I reached to grab them, I realized she only had two full body ones while the rest were skimpy. On their own, my eyes raised to meet hers and I inwardly hoped she was joking.

"Savannah, you do know it's almost winter right? Why didn't you buy something less revealing?" I questioned softly and she made a sour face at me

"I'm always in the house Navehya. If anything you should've asked me why didn't I buy a stuffed animal to talk to while you're gone." She answered, grabbing my wrist and pulled me to the check out line

I huffed as I allowed her to pull me through the crowd of people who were staring at me until we made it to the check out.

When we finally made it there, I lifted my shades higher and told Savannah to go first since she had less than me. She agreed and walked before me and greeted the cashier who held a smile on his face. Once she finished, she grabbed her change and receipt from him and I walked up to place all my clothes on the beam.

Once he got to the end though, my breath catches in my throat as I realize he pulled out the dress that Savannah thrown at me that reminded me of a ripped shower curtain. He looked up at me and gulped and I instantly turned to her and scowled, which she returned in a innocent smile.

Oh by the way did I mention he didn't look a day over 17? Because yeah, pretty sure he's scarred now.

He cleared his throat then looked back to the dress and I bit my lip anxiously. Even though his eyebrows were high as he tried to hide his blush, I could see the redness on his ears but he nonetheless grabbed the dress, scanned it, placed it in a bag, and told me my total.

After I paid him and mumbled a small "thank you," I grabbed the bag and Savannah's wrist and pulled her out of the store hurriedly before she could say or do anything else. Once we got outside, she instantly bursted out laughing, and I could help but laugh with her.

We literally just traumatized that kid.
