The rest of the night passed by like a blur and apparently, Cole had left as soon as he left the bathroom since he had to "take care of something". I wouldn't have known that of course if he hadn't left a napkin in my seat with his handwriting on it. The small gesture was cute, but it completely contrasted our - moment - in the bathroom. The thought again was enough to make me break out in a blush.
It was now time for all of us to leave and since tomorrow was Sunday, I made the mental note that I wanted to stay home and relax. My entire week was booked and busy with meetings and phone calls, and now I realize it was because Hakeem was distracting me from the gala.
"You ready?" Savannah asked me, wrapping her purse around her shoulder
I smiled softly and nodded and this time, we walk down the stairs to meet Harry at the bottom with the car already started. I wanted to leave before the more heavier press came to bombard everyone with questions and both Savannah and Harry agreed with my request.
As we got in the car and got settled, I could tell that Savannah was slowly adapting to this lifestyle. The fancy events and alluring dresses was the life she always wanted but since she grew up in a small town with an even smaller family and source of income, her dreams stayed just that; her dreams.
It wasn't until she started hanging out with me that she embraced her girly girl/businesswoman era and I couldn't have been grateful and happier since she was living the life she earned and deserved. In a way, we both came from humble upbringings.
Harry started the car and we drove away from Town Square, our destination being my mansion. All I wanted was sleep and to get out of these fucking heels. I've had enough social interaction and sexual interaction for today. But I'm certain that tonight was only the beginning of both.

"Navehya! You have to come down to the company right now. Please." I heard Hakeem's whining voice yell from my phone
He called me around 10 minutes ago with some bullshit that his office looked like it had been tampered with and at first I didn't believe him, but when he sent me pictures of the lock being broken, I knew he wasn't lying. My problem was that he hadn't addressed last night and his little gala stunt, but I pushed it to the back of my mind... For now.
"I'm on my way, stay there." I ordered and I heard him huff quietly
"Where the fuck else would I go?" He mumbled and I had to control all of the answers I could've told him
Hell being the first of course.
"Shut the hell up and get off my phone." I replied, hanging up abruptly
I grabbed all of my things and made my way outside, opting to drive myself since Harry was probably out doing something already. I sent Savannah a message about me leaving since I told her I would be staying home today and started my drive to the building.
I tried racking my brain for anyone who'd even dare to break in our company, and damn near pushed my foot to the metal of the floorboard when I realized who it had to be.
That fucker really had the fucking nerve to pull this shit again.
A stop light halted my wreckless driving and I tried to calm my erratic breathing. Turning to the side, I pulled my phone from my purse and dialed Anderson Corporations' office number.
After a few seconds, someone answered and at the same time, the light turned green.
"Hello, this is Anderson Corporations, how may I help you today?" The lady asked optimistically and I inwardly cringed at her enthusiasm this early in the morning
Ugh, everything was fucking pissing me off.
"Yes, I'd like to speak to Co- Mr. Anderson." I replied, internally cursing at myself for almost referring to the fucking owner by his first name
As I waited for a response, I made a right and the company came into view. My jaw clenched tightly when I took in the police cars perimetering the parking lot and I rolled my eyes at Hakeem. Despite the situation, he could've at least waited until I got here. He was always so fucking dramatic.
"Yes ma'am, please hold." The lady finally answered, making me jump in surprise
Hell, I forgot she was even on the damn phone.
After a few seconds, I pulled into the parking lot, took off my seatbelt, and swung the door open, the phone still to my ear. They were being so fucking slow and it irritated me.
"Mr. Anderson, someone is on the line for you." I heard the woman speak softly
Her tone was hesitant, almost like she was shy or timid and I listened intensively just in case.
Almost immediately, I heard a heavy sigh and curse word erupt from the phone and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Right after, I heard muffled noises and shuffling and as I walked through the entrance doors, I checked my phone at least twice to make sure they were still on the phone.
As I moved quickly through the lobby to the elevator, I felt my heart pound louder and louder in my chest, not knowing what to expect. I eventually made it into the elevator, pressed the top button, and started playing with my fingers. That was when I heard the loud and booming voice emerge from my phone, completely taking me off guard.
"I said to fucking hang up, God damn Eleanor!"
With that, a few seconds later the phone hung up and I tightened the phone in my hand. The man's voice didn't sound like Cole, but who else could it have been?
Before I could process an answer, the elevator dinged, signalling that I've made it to the top floor, and my eyebrows furrowed again. The elevator had never moved that fast. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up as the elevator doors opened and my breath hitched in my throat when I saw the top floor was swarmed with officers.
When they heard the elevator ding, they all turned to me so I granted them a hesitant smile and small wave. They returned the gesture and moved out of the way so I could meet up with Hakeem.
As I was walking through the hallway, I made my way to his office to see that his door was open, the lock broken off. I took the lock between my fingers, inspecting it, and finally dropped it softly and walked through the door. My smile had fallen completely and my patience level was low, I didn't have the energy anymore to play games.
"Ms. Robinson, pleasure to meet you." The police chief welcomed me with a slight nod
I nodded back, but didn't respond to him. As I continued to walk, the sound of my heels clicking against the floor was heard and I guessed it finally brought Hakeem out of his dazed state since he finally looked over his shoulder with a relieved grin.
"Marshall, you can leave now. We'll continue this investigation later. Thank you for coming." He spoke softly and the officer nodded with a tight lipped smile and showed himself out of the door
Soon we heard footsteps going down the hallway and I assumed he just ordered his squad to leave. As soon as we heard the elevator ding, signalling they left, Hakeem and I met each other's gaze and we both clenched our jaw.
"Who in the hell would've even thought to break into this company. They had a fucking death wish." Hakeem seethed lowly and I nodded in agreement
Cole certainly did have a death wish, and I wanted to know why he had to make his appearance known again. Especially in Hakeem's office. I had my lock replaced the day after Cole broke in but I disliked that I didn't think twice about him breaking in again.
"That's for sure. What did you and Marshall find?" I asked, rounding his desk to search the room myself
Everything was in place and it felt like deja vu from the night I met Cole in my office. He didn't dare move anything but a chair, but something told me this time it was more than just a break in.
"Well for starters, the fucker didn't take anything, but, they did snoop around for something. When I asked Marshall what it could've been, he shrugged and suggested that it could've been anything." He replied, scoffing and I pursed my lips in thought
What did Cole need in Hakeem's office?
What if he broke in my office in search of something and when he didn't find it, he played it off like it was nothing? What if he waited until I made it back so he could ask for it? What if that's the reason he wanted me to be his personal assistant at Anderson Corporations? To give him whatever he was looking for? That must've been why he left last night and broke into Hakeem's office - I didn't give into him so easily.
He was smarter than I anticipated and a crooked trixster and I couldn't believe I fell under his spell.
"The gala. Make a list of everyone's attendance and the person who wasn't there we check them first." Hakeem eventually suggested and I shook my head in response
Cole knew to show up for the first half of the gala since he knew it would've been the first idea we thought of when everything was said and done. Shit, he was good.
"It wouldn't have mattered if they attended the gala or not. It could've been someone on the streets for all we know since you made the gala publicized then ordered all of our security to post at Town Square." I retorted and his fists clenched in anger
"Are you really blaming me for this Navehya? Are you fucking kidding me?! The gala was in the evening and we needed that security for the nosey ass fuckers with cameras who were literally waiting outside for every business owner at the fucking event." He countered and it was my turn to clench my fists
"Well look what happened Hakeem. Someone broke in and we have no idea what they were looking for or what they found and what they're going to do next. We don't have any leads you dumbass!" I exclaimed and his nostrils flared in irritation
I knew it was idiotic to not tell him of the one lead I knew we had, but I wanted to figure this shit out myself. Say if we did prove Cole guilty for breaking and entering, what would the police do? He was the only other businessman who could burn this building to ruins and I knew the police wouldn't want to get involved with that.
"I can't fucking believe your blaming me for this." He gruffed and took a seat at his desk, rubbing his hands over his stressed face
I scoffed and rolled my eyes and his childish behavior and started walking to the door with a new destination in mind.
"Stop whining and get a better lock and a tighter security for early morning and late night shifts. Let this be the last time you bring me here on my off day." I ordered and stepped out of his office with a clenched jaw
From a distance, I heard papers slide off the desk and him cursing violently and I couldn't help but wonder how we were fucking related. I was better at handling situations than he was and it dawned on me - again - how much dad fucked up with making him the owner of FR Inc.
The elevator descended down and opened before I could process it and I walked through the empty lobby. No one was here after hearing what happened and since it was Sunday and for the first time I appreciated the quietness. It allowed me to think. Think about the words I was going to throw at Cole for his bullshit.
I walked out of the exit doors and got into my car, noticing that the lot was empty too. I started the car and reversed out of the space I was in and started my drive to Anderson Corporations with my fingers gripping tightly onto the wheel.
It was one thing to get over on me, but to get over on me twice was another thing. One that he'd soon find the consequence of.

Oh my God, two chapters in 24 hours!!
How do we like the drama??
Also, what do you think Cole was looking for in Hakeem's office?
Also, (also) do you think Navehya should tell Hakeem what's going on between her and Cole? Why do you think she's keeping quiet??
Anyways, I hope you liked it.
