pick up lines
Melisende groaned as bright lights flooded in her room. She used her pillow to cover her face, but it was quite uncomfortable.
Sighing she opened her eyes, the familiarity of her room greeting her.
"Thank you Missy", she thanked the house elf, who bowed and left. Well, unlike other rich snobs she didn't need anyone to run her a bath or pick out an outfit.
After getting ready, she walked down towards the dining hall, her parents already sitting there.
She gracefully slid in her seat, keeping her face emotionless.
A house elf served them breakfast, her favourite eggs and bacon.
She ate her food silently, with all the table manners just the way she had been taught.
"So what are you going to do today, sweetie?", her mom asked her.
Melisende knew her mom was trying to make up for the fact that she couldn't stand against her husband for her daughter and she appreciated it.
But she didn't knew why her mom was bothering with it now! It was too late.
"Well i was thinking of visiting the local library and then maybe the park", she answered.
Her father's left eyebrow twitched, a sign that he didn't liked her answer. But nothingless he kept quiet.
She finished her breakfast and slid off the chair, quickly walking out of the door without wishing her parents goodbye, not that she cared.
She breathed the cool air, sighing in relaxation.
She walked towards the central park, humming a song she had heard somewhere.
The park was deserted. She saw a bench under a big tree and sat on it. Pulling a book from her robes, she sat there quietly reading it.
Time passed, and she sat there engrossed in a book.
Suddenly she heard a loud squeal of laughter.
There was girl, mostly six years old. She was been chased by a boy who didn't look much older than her. She could see a few other kids running away as well. The boy quickly caught on her, touching her and yelling "Tag".
Melisende smiled at the kids, as they continued playing around the park. She could see the pure joy on their faces, enjoying their childhood fullest.
She felt a pang in her chest, why wasn't her childhood like this? Even though there was a small smile on her lips, her eyes showed pure agony and sadness. Eyes always show your true emotions right?
She kept the book on her side and hugged her legs, bringing them up. She wished to be a muggle sometimes, away from magic, away from racist parents, away from Voldermort. Was it too much to ask for a normal live? For people who loved you rather than those who judged you?
Suddenly a ball of paper hit her out of now where bringing her back from her thoughts.
Now alerted, she looked around her trying to find the culprit. Her eyes narrowed, as she picked up the ball. She uncurled the paper, and was surprised to find something written on it.
"I know we are not in Professor Flitwick's class, but you are still charming"
What?
Who could it be? It has to be someone from hogwarts. And what did this mean?
Another note hit her head, a bit harshly might i add. She rubbed her forehead and opened the ball again.
"Did you survive the killing curse, because you are drop dead gorgeous"
A hearty laugh bubbled from her throat as she re-read the note again. Who was this person? And why were they doing this?
She looked at the notes again, trying to find any clue. The notes were written by same person as the handwriting was same. A bit messy and curvy. Why did it seemed familiar? She felt as if she had seen it, the answer nagging at the back of her head.
Another note hit her shoulder, softly this time as if thrown from quite a short distance. She scanned the grounds again, the kids were still there but at the other end of the park. And clearly they don't look as if they can write properly.
She unrolled the paper again.
"I am a seeker, are you my golden snitch?"
She laughed again, at the absurdity of the pick up line. She turned the paper, only to find another.
"Did you make me your horcrux? Because my heart stopped when i met you"
~JP
She felt the realisation dawn on her. Of course it was him. It had to be him.
She lifted her eyes, only to find him leaning against the tree. His hazel eyes were twinkling, a smirk rested on his lips. He ran a hand through his messy hair, pushing himself off the tree.
"So did you like them?", he asked as he neared her.
A involuntary smile pirked at her lips, as she remembered the days when he would use such cheesy lines to make her laugh. The only that was perfect in her childhood, and it was too ripped apart from her.
"I know you were feeling sad, thought i could charm you to laugh".
"I can't believe this, after all this time you still keep doing this? I mean i'm sure you spended a good lord time making them up", she laughed.
"Well, it was worth the smile on your face", he said with a wink.
Do all the good moments should come to an end?
And as if the universe wanted, she remembered their last conversation. She had turned him down.
The air grew tense around them, she didn't seem to find any words to ease the atmosphere.
She was glad to have her friend back, but at what cost? She couldn't just jump in his arms, confessing her undying love for him. He didn't knew what was going in her life, he didn't knew what her Father had signed her up for.
And she wished it to stay that way.
