Double thoughts
A week had already passed. James and Melisende had grown closer.
Sometimes she wondered how easily she had forgiven him, how easily they had fallen back into their pace as if nothing had happened. James didn't care what his mother thought anymore, and well Mel was no one to interfere. His friends, or the marauders were not here this summer holiday, so James was spending as much time with Melisende as possible.
He would write her letters, visit her in park, snuck her out of her room using magic as he was already seventeen. Melisende often found herself jealous over the fact that James and Levi could use magic outside Hogwarts already.
James and Melisende had talked and talked and talked. Basically every little thing and now she felt as if they never stopped being friends.
Rowle Manor would be a pain in ass for her, but now that she had James, it felt little tolerable.
She would have burst from joy on the fact that she was leaving for Black Manor tomorrow, living with her best friend Regulus though she had visited his house just once and the fact that Walburga Black was a nasty thing.
But now she didn't. She didn't want to leave James behind, though only for a week. And moreover she didn't knew how to break it to James. The Blacks were loyal supporters of The Dark Lord, there was a high chance of something to happen which she didn't want.
And on the top of the pile, her dearest father had been preparing her to meet The Dark Lord or Voldermort. Honestly name didn't matter to her. He had been giving her lessons on how to act in front of him or in other words be submissive and keep her sarcastic comments to herself.
And Melisende found herself rolling with it, what other choice did she have?
James didn't have a single idea about this, and it scared the shit out of her.

Dear James,
Thanks for the chocolates, i loved them. Are you free? I have to tell you something important.
Mel.
Melisende quickly attached the note to her owl's leg and directed her over to James' balcony. It wasn't much distance so was convenient to send notes here and there.
Before she could do anything the owl was tapping on the glass door. She opened the curtains and the door fully, grabbed the piece of parchment from the owl and opened it hastily.
Mel,
I am glad you liked the chocolates. Anyway go on, i am always free when it comes to you.
James
She breathed in lightly. She could see him standing in his balcony, waving at her. A wave of nervousness passed over her, how was she supposed to tell him this?
Grabbing the quill, she began writing.
James,
I don't know how to break this to you. You know i don't have best relations with my family. Honestly i wanted a break from them, i didn't wanted to spend my holidays with them so i asked Regulus if i could come over. I know his parents are not the best people to hang out with, but neither are mine...... So to sum it up i am going to be spending the next week at his house.
She didn't bother with writing her name, just holded it out in her palm so James could leviate it to himself. Her owl kind of just disappeared.
She could see his expressions changing rapidly. "The Hell?", he yelled loudly.
Melisende was surprised at how loud his voice was. She heard it perfectly well, even though there was much distance between them.
James turned around his neck, to look backwards in his room, was someone calling him?
"Nothing Mom, just received a letter from Sirius, it's just boy stuff", he yelled back. Of course! that's what he gets for yelling loudly.
He shuffled a bit, she could see him scribbling furiously on the parchment.
Seriously Mel? You found no one else? That's Black house if you don't know, loyal supporters of Dark lord, evil slytherins, what else do you need to stay away from them? I understand Regulus is your friend and that you don't like your parents, but they kicked out Sirius just because he was sorted into Gryffindor!!!!!
Melisende could almost feel his anger and frustration through his words. She knew he would react like this. And it angered her a bit. She was not a kid anymore, she could take her own choices. And honestly what was she supposed to do? She had a lot of friends but not everyone knew that she was a daughter of two death eaters right? They just thought she was from a long line of slytherins.
And those who knew belonged to slytherin as well, sharing the same fate as hers.
She didn't have loving parents like James did, parents who would do anything for their child's happiness. Heck her father basically ruined her life because he couldn't stand up against a certain Dark Lord.
She didn't had friends like James did. Someone who would sacrifice life for each other. She trusted Levi, Regulus, Narcissa and Rabastan with her life, she knew they would do anything for her, for her happiness. But they were too crumpled under the weight of depreciated beliefs, they were too required to behave as their parents wanted them to and not be disgrace.
And behind this all they didn't have a live of their own, in which they could be themselves, stop being judged, stop living up to expectations. No, nada, nothing.
James didn't knew this all though, he was no one to blame. He didn't knew that his childhood friend was going to be someone he despised the most, a death eater.
Melisende suddenly started having second thoughts about their friendship, did she do the right thing by becoming friends again? Should they have continued their older ways? She was betraying him by keeping all this away.
But the main question was, what will happen when her secrets get spilled?
Melisende suddenly felt a heavy weight on her shoulders.
She looked up to James, who was still standing in his balcony, patiently waiting for her reply.
She just wrote two sentences as her reply. She silently watched the parchment float towards him. And as soon as she realised that he had the parchment in his hands, she swiftly moved back in her room and closed the curtains. A signal that their conversation was over. Why was her life supposed to so complicated?
A single tear ran down her cheek as she pondered over the words she had written as her reply.
I am a slytherin James, and my parents fit your description of evil.

Hey guys! I sincerely hoped you guys liked this chapter.
I was kind of focused on the fact that not all sytherins are evil, its just the background and atmosphere that shapes them.
I believe that not all people are evil, wicked or foul, it's either that they have no choice or the fact that they are never taught the difference between right and wrong!
Anyway see ya soon!
