5. | And Again
"Are you still seeing that girl? What's her name?" I asked idly as I jumped into James neatly made bed.
"Oh Lucy? No." James replied uninterested.
"Why not, I liked her." I frowned. James was notorious for being extremely picky when it comes to girls. He dated a new one every week, and then found a silly reason to stop.
However, it wasn't that he was a player and went around sleeping with tons of girls. He was a gentleman, took them out for dinner, movie etc. Then something always came up, and he ended things before they could even start.
He was constantly saying he was just waiting for the right girl, and that he'd know she was the one for him right away. Obviously, that hasn't happened yet.
"She was a vegetarian." He shrugged, closing the door to his bedroom.
I shook my head at him and smacked a hand gently across his face once he came to sit on the mattress besides me. "James, she was nice, and pretty." I paused. "And now you're not seeing her anymore because she doesn't eat meat? That's a bit ridiculous, Jamie." I scolded.
"But Liz." He whined. "How could I date a girl who doesn't eat meat? Meat is my life. It's the New York life. Hello, hotdogs and burgers?" He looked back at me with a sassy look on his face.
Either way, I still pushed his face away. This caused him to go all the way to the side, reaching over to pull out a couple of sports magazines as he did his trip. He laughed as he dumped half of the pile on my lap.
I nearly rolled my eyes into the back of my head as he did this. Its something he's been doing lately, buying a bunch of sports magazines to try and find some ticket they have that'll get you a trip for two to some island I think. Anyways, it's all he's been doing and he said that if I helped I'd be his plus one. I could honestly care less about the trip but he really wants this. Not only is James a famous part time worker in the coffee house, but he's also a photographer and this island would boost his photography skills to the next level.
"Jamie, how are you suppose to have a life, like with another person, if you're so picky with girls?" I asked.
"I'll find the perfect girl for me.. Eventually." He rolled his head back. Releasing a gasp of air out in front of him. "Speaking of love.." He teased, turning his head back over to me with a smirk growing in his face.
"No." I rolled my head back with his, not wanting to hit the subject.
James sat up straight, looking back at me over his shoulder with a big smile plastered in his face. "What? Why?" He chuckled. "Was a night out with McSteamy that bad?"
"McSteamy?" I furrowed my eyebrows. "Really, James, that's what you come up with?"
James just shrugged his shoulders, laughing with a small nod to his head. "You know how he is." He laughed. "Get him upset and the guy just.." James signaled the next movement by blowing his hands out of mind. "McSteamy." He laughed.
I rolled my eyes, ignoring him and bringing up the magazine to look at it. The magazine suddenly became more interesting than this moment.
"Come on." James shoved my legs, gently making them move. "You can tell me, I promise not to say anything."
I rolled my eyes. I really didn't want to talk about Jack and the way I got chased by the cops and he kissed me. I know James, he's just trying to be supportive with him but in reality he's just as worried as I am that he's seeing me.
"Liz."
"Do you really want to know?" I asked bringing the magazine down to my lap.
The look on James' face was all I needed for an answer.
"Fine." I eventually gave up.
Sitting up straight and getting comfortable in my seat, I ran a hand through my hair. Clearing my throat I looked back at him.
If only he knew what was waiting in store for him.

"He what!" James exclaimed, uneasily taking in what I just told him.
"And you.." He paused and I nodded.
"You're kidding right? Please tell me this is a joke." James begged.
"I wish it was." My head fell to the pillow on my lap.
"Look at that, little Lizzy Viera outrunning the cops." He joked.
I stood up, grabbing the pillow I was previously resting on in my hands. "It's not funny!" I exclaimed, launching the pillow at his direction. James flinched and I missed my shot terribly.
"Alright, alright.." He calmed down. "So the guy kissed you. Is that really that big of a deal?"
I looked at him with pinning eyes. Of course he'd say it wasn't that big of a deal, he's one of Jack himself.
"I'm just saying, he could've done worse." James shrugged his shoulders.
"Are you defending him?" I asked. Clearly he was siding someone here and it wasn't me.
"No!" He stated. "I'm just saying that you shouldn't let this bother you so much."
"I'm going out with him again." I spoke.
"What!" James exclaimed but also laughed at the same time.
"Why are you laughing?" I joked around with him. "You're not making this any easier."
"You're the one who's talking shit about the guy and still agree to go out on another date with him?" James laughed.
"I didn't agree." I defended. "He said he was and I chose not to argue."
James couldn't contain his laughter. A small smirk appearing in his lips afterwards as he pointed a finger back at me. "You're an interesting girl, Elizabeth Viera."
"I know." I sassed, taking a flip to my hair. Both of our laughs filled the air the next moment. Silently, we returned to the magazines.
I know it sounds crazy what I'm doing, but I'd rather just go with what he says instead of against it. Jack is a man of many masks and emotions. Who knows what he'd do if I said no. Taking last time as I hint, he's not afraid to do anything. He will show up and he will take me out when he says so.
I just hope this date would be our last.

"I'm home!" I called out as I walked into the main hall of my house. Usually by this time I hear another shout of my mother saying that she's in the kitchen cooking something. Or Mandy calling out that no one cares. But this time, I heard none.
"Mom?" I called out again, closing the door behind me and locking it up.
The hallway lights were turned on. As I walked deeper into the house, so were the kitchen and the living room's. Strange?
Shaking off some disturbing thoughts from my head, I continued walking. It was probably nothing. I'm sure they went out somewhere in a hurry.
I reached the top of the stairs, turning a corner to enter the hall upstairs. My room door was wide open, a dim light reflecting out of it. My head turned around, observing if anyone else was here because someone definitely was. I left my house at day to go next door to James' house. There was no need for a lamp to be turned on.
Walking closer up to my door, I grabbed a marble vase that was in one of the small hallway tables. Holding it close to my body, I got ready to swing. My body peeked into my room. Walking very meticulously, I saw nothing out of the ordinary. My bed was neatly made, some books around my floor, my laptop on my desk chair. Nothing was touched, but a window was open.
Not minding it much, I walked up to it. I placed the vase down on my desk so I can handle the window better. My hands gripped the edge, putting little force in it to push it down. I was about to walk away again when a certain view outside caught my attention. A large black vehicle parked right outside my house. No one was in it.
All of a sudden, a deep voice rang through my ears. Sounds of heavy sneakers walking through the soft surface of my carpet. I was quick to turn around. My heart jumping up to my throat.
"Hey, you're back!" A big smile crossed the tall figure's face; pealing a banana before looking back up at me.
I stared in concentration, observing exactly who was standing behind my bathroom door. The same dark brown eyes burned into mine. He wore a long gray hoodie with an even darker shade of gray for pants. His black and white high tops finished his look; a black and grey SnapBack topping it all off. His appearance was breathtaking but what really brought me to think was why he was here.
"What the Hell are you doing here?" I asked, pinning my eyes back up at him.
Jack took a bite of the banana, smiling back up at me with a mouthful of the fruit. "Nice to see you too, Beautiful."
I watched as he made himself comfortable around my room. His feet carrying him to my bed, throwing his body in the center moments later. His legs crossed and his free arm came up behind his head. Still, the guy ate his banana.
"Where's my Mom?" I asked.
"She went out to take your sister to some sleepover or something." He took another bite of the fruit.
"And she left you here, alone?" I arched a brow.
"Surprised?" He smirked.
I rolled my eyes as he finished speaking. Dropping my bag on the floor besides my desk, I turned over to my drawers.
"Hey, but guess what?" He spoke again. His voice sounding full of the mushy substance still in his mouth.
I didn't answer, I knew he would say something anyways.
"We're all alone." He spoke seductively.
I turned around just in time to catch him wink back at me. The look on my face didn't seem so amused but it made him quietly laugh. Turning back around, I pulled out my drawer and started digging around it.
"Awe c'mon!" He laughed. "Lets have some fun."
I pushed in the drawer after grabbing what it was I was looking for. Turning back around, I arched an eyebrow again. "Why are you here?"
Jack moved his hat a little to the side, fixing my pillows on his back before looking back down at his half eaten banana. "Why, I came to see you." He chuckled.
"That's what you always say." My shoulders dropped heavy.
"That's because it's true." He smiled. "I enjoy your presence." He ended it with a small laugh.
Sighing, I looked back at the empty bathroom, hoping to walk in soon.
"Now, I hope you don't mind," Jack looked down at his side, my nightstand. "But I borrowed your charger." He spoke, looking down at the white cable connecting to the bottom of his phone to the outlet. He was looking down at it. Harsh brown eyes looking back up at me as he then disconnected the two; throwing the phone back into my bed.
I could honestly care less. The guy has made himself comfortable enough around my house and honestly I see that as a bad thing. All I wanted to do was get out of here.
"I'm going to go change." I finally spoke, looking out towards my bathroom.
"Why change in there when you can change out here?" He smirked as he added his useless comment.
"One thing.." I continued. "You're here."
Jack looked back at me with wide eyes, finding shock in my use of words. I was shocked too, but at this point, I'm not really that shocked with the way I could react when I'm with him.
"Oooh." Jack cooed. "Feisty." He winked. "I've never been with a feisty one before." He paused. "I think I'm going to like this."
My heart began to race as he finished his sentence. Something about the way he said it sent chills down my spine. That and the other fact that we were all alone in my house. Yeah, I was a bit scared about now.
Not saying a word, I turned over to walk into my bathroom. Closing and locking the door behind me, I immediately started changing. Stripping off the clothes I already had on, I looked over towards the sink to grab what the new clothes I was going to wear. A red flannel bottom with a black tank top. I started brushing my teeth afterwards.
"You know, I had that window open for a reason." I heard him speak through the wood.
"Okay, so?" I asked after spitting out a mouthful of the bubbly, minty substance.
"I like the room being cold. Freshly cold."
Like his soul.
"I like my room being warm." I answered. "Its already cold outside."
"Yes but the fresh air is impossible to get from an AC." He responded. "Its relaxing."
Moments later I heard the window rise open again. Ignoring it, I went back to freshening my mouth. Once done, I dabbed my towel over my lips to make them dry again. Unlocking the door, I walked out, turning off the lights as I did so.
I stood by my doorframe as I watched Jack walk back up to my bed. Body sitting down at the edge of my now messy made bed. A smirk growing wide in his serious face.
"What do you want now?" I asked, moving over to drop my dirty clothes in the dirty pile.
"I told you already, I wanted to see you." He smiled.
"Why?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Because, I like talking to you." He smiled.
I stood wondering for a while. A conversation was the last thing we ever had. He's always saying some slick comment or we're both running away from cops. Either way, I don't know what he finds so interesting in me. We're complete polar opposites.
"We never even really talked." I shrugged my shoulders.
"I know." He stood up. Jack's head tilted to the side a little as his feet carried him up to me. A small smile curving up to his lips. "And that's what I want to change."
I swallowed the heavy lump down my throat. Now that he drew closer I remembered what he did to me. That kiss last night, it was surreal. It never passed my mind and he told me we could speak about it next time we see each other. Well, it's next time.
"You kissed me." I breathed out trembling inside. Just the idea was crazy. Jack Gilinsky kissed me.
A small smile curved up in Jack's lips. Eyes prying down at mine as he rode his hand up to my cheek. I fluttered inside with the touch, trying to physically hide it from him so he wouldn't get any ideas. I felt his thumb caress my cheekbone, slowly skimming down to my lower lip.
"Indeed I did." His low voice spoke. "And I'm planning to do it again."
I watched him get closer to me, tilting my chin up towards him. My mind began to race. Finding no other way out of this, I flinched away.
"Why?" I asked hurriedly.
Jack's eyes opened up, still smiling as he pulled away from me again. "Why?" He chuckled. "Because that's what a person does when they like someone."
"You don't like me." I pinned my eyes at him. This just made Jack laugh.
"And what makes you so sure about that?" He chuckled while arching a brow.
His look made me nervous. Insecure too. I had no words for his question and I can't explain what it was he asked for. Its just a whole new feeling for me.
I became mesmerized in my own thoughts. Not paying attention to what Jack was doing, I became unaware of his presence getting closer. I was late to feel his fingers come down to my chin, making me look up at him. My eyes closed just as I felt his warm lips crash with mine. This kiss was passionate. His hands then slid down my waist, gripping harshly at the skin. I winced in pain but he still didn't allow me to move away. He pinned me up in the wall instead, carrying my legs to wrap around his body. My hands rose to his shoulders in order to push him away just as I felt him press closer. A smirk growing in his face as he felt the presence of my breast being pressed against his front. Luckily, I was able to pull him off just before his tongue slid into my mouth.
My feet touched the ground again. Gasping for air, I stood close to the wall. Fear rushing through me with the thought of him getting closer to me again. He's capable of doing anything and I mean anything. His intentions are never good.
"You see what you want to see, Elizabeth." Jack spoke. "Or what others want you to see." "And that's not good."
I remained replaying his words in my mind. It was probably the smartest, most intellectual he's ever said before. I never expected something like that to come out Jack. But it did and I was utterly mesmerized by it.
Before I knew it, Jack was already walking out towards my door. His hand was gripping the handle and he had already swung it open. He didn't walk out yet. Turning back over to me he pointed his hand out.
"Be ready by 9 tomorrow."
"For what?" I asked.
"I told you before, I'm taking you out." He explained.
And with that, he was gone. Not even bothering to give me a chance to respond.
This is just great.
