Daniel's POV

I wake to the sound of a seagull squawking loudly whilst soaring over me. I groan in agony and realize that I'm lying on sand. It's the middle of the night and the moon is high in the sky.

What? How did I get here? Where's Joey!?

I get up and begin to look around.

Daniel- JOEY? JOEY! JOEY WHERE ARE YOU?!

There was no sign of him anywhere. I began to cry at the thought of losing my love, my life, my everything.

I fell back onto the sand and sobbed. After a few minutes I managed to pull myself together enough to look around.

I walked down the beach, calling Joey's name. I think about how there's no way Joey would wash up on the same beach as me, if he's even still alive. I can only hope he made it through the storm on the boat.

I decide to have a rest until morning because I cannot see well. There's no point trying to figure out where I've ended up in the dark.

I lie down on the cold sand and open myself to the darkness of sleep, the only sound is the waves crashing on the shore and the steady trickling of my hopeless tears.

Joey's POV

I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. They immediately stung and I quickly realize I am underwater. I hold my breath and attempt to look around. The sight I see shocks me.

Before me were creatures. But not just any creatures.

They were mermaids.

Three of them. I let out what would have been a shriek except I was still holding my breath and bubbles left my nostrils. My eyes opened wider and no longer stung. Then one of them spoke.

Mermaid- What's your name hun?

What? I'm so confused? I need to get to the surface!

Mermaid- Sweetie you don't need to hold you breath!

I gave them an unconvinced and confused look.

Mermaid- We are mermaids, when you are with us you don't need to hold your breath, you can breath underwater.

I was skeptical but they seemed rather nice, why would they lie? I slowly opened my mouth and felt water flood my mouth. I began to panic before realizing the water didn't travel any farther down my throat. 

I grinned widely, I was breathing underwater.

Joey- Wow! I can breathe underwater! ...Oh my gosh! I'm talking underwater!

Mermaid- Yep haha you are! What's your name sweet?

Joey- Joey...

Suddenly panic strikes again as I remember the events before I blacked out.

Joey- Oh my gosh! Where's Daniel?! Is he okay? I need to find him!

Mermaid- Daniel? Who's that?

Joey- He's my boy- uh my friend... we were on a boat but the storm caused us to go overboard.

Mermaid- Oh he was unconscious so we took him to shore.

Joey- Can you please take me to him?!

Mermaid- Sure sweetheart!

Two of the mermaids took a hold of my hands and before I knew it I was speeding through the ocean depths.

Joey- Wow! This is so much fun!

The mermaids laughed and continued swimming through the sea at top speed. Before too long we were already nearing the shore. They pulled me up onto the sandbar until I was able to stand above the water.

Mermaid- Well here you go!

Joey- Thank you so much!

The mermaids swam off laughing and singing to each other and I walked up onto the sand. I looked up at the sky and saw the sun beginning to rise over the horizon.

I felt exhausted but I need to find Daniel. I was walking down the beach when I felt myself trip on a piece of driftwood.

Joey- OW!

I yelped in pain as I felt my leg twist and I fell to the ground. 

Oh no, I think I've twisted my ankle! Ah it hurts so bad!

I lied down trying to massage my ankle so I could stand up but it hurt too bad. I lied there for a long time before I began to fall asleep.

Daniel's POV

I felt the sun warming my chilled skin and my eyes slowly creaked open.

My first thought is of Joey.

Is he okay? Is he alive? I need to find him...

I stood up and stretched because sleeping on the sand isn't really all that comfortable. I started walking down the beach, back in the direction I came.

After about an hour I make it back to the place I woke up the first time. I can see a small shape on the beach in the distance. I continue towards it. 

As I get closer it looks like a person... a boy.

My heart jumps and I start running.

I gradually get closer and the boy looks very familiar.

Daniel- JOEY!

I finally reach him and he is lying down asleep. I start to shake his shoulders gently.

Then I notice his leg.

Oh my gosh what happened? It's all twisted.

Joey begins to stir and I turn back to face him.

Joey's POV

My eyes open to see green eyes staring closely into mine.

Joey- Wha...?

I was cut off with a kiss. (As he should, always)

We both pull away from the kiss but replace it with a tight embrace.

Joey- Danny?! I thought I lost you!

Daniel- No Joey, you'll never lose me. No matter what happens I will always be with you, even if it may not be physically I will always be looking over you. I love you.

Joey- I love you too.

And then I woke up.

(Just kidding.... i'm not that mean XD... Sorry I'll go, just ignore that last sentence.. continue on...)

Daniel- What happened to your ankle?

Joey- I think I twisted it...

Daniel- Oh no! Here let me help you up.

Daniel helped me up onto my feet... well my foot, which was not a fun experience, the pain was excruciating.

Daniel- Here, put your arm over my shoulder.

I draped my arm around his neck and shoulders and he snaked his arm around my waist.

Together we hobbled off the beach and inland.

Joey- Where do you think we are?

Daniel- I have no idea, we will just have hope that it is inhabited by some friendly people.

After an excruciating hour of hobbling through the forest we came across a small camp in a clearing.

Daniel- Hello? Is anyone here?

Daniel called out and one of the three little tents began to move and a lady emerged. She was rather young and had blonde hair, fair skin and she had blue eyes.

Lady- Hello?

Daniel- Oh um hi... we don't mean to intrude but do you possibly have anything to help with Joey's ankle, he twisted it.

The lady raised an eyebrow and came towards us.

She glanced at me and then stared intently at Daniel as if she was trying to recognize him. She went really close to his face, inspecting it.

Daniel- Um... what are yo-

Her eyes flashed with a sort of excitement or something.

Lady- Yes.

Joey- What?

She moved back a few steps.

Lady- I can help you with your ankle.

She said looking back at me.

Joey- Oh, thank you.

Lady- Come with me.

She said walking towards her tent.

Daniel- Wait... who are you?

Lady- My name is Hope.
