Joey's POV

Joey- Daniel, look!

Daniel- What is it?

He questioned, clambering off the bed and walking over to me.

I picked up the box and showed it to him.

Daniel- Oh yeah! I found that under your bed the other day and I put it on that chair because I thought the king was coming back, I totally forgot about it!

Joey- Do you remember this?

Daniel- Of course I do! I was the worst start to the day and the best end to the day of my life.

He says smiling. He walks over to me, turns me around and cuddles me from behind. I hum and melt into his loving touch. He gently swayed up side to side (got me walkin').

Joey- Yeah, I haven't seen it since that day!

Daniel- Can you open it?

He said leaning his head on my shoulder so he could see the box in my hands. I try prying the lid off but just like last time, it still wouldn't budge.

Joey- No I can't.

Daniel- Hmm, that's weird.

Joey- Oh! Danny, I want to show you something I got the other day! 

Daniel- What is it? 

I put the box back on the chair and run over to my desk and he follows. 

I showed him the vinyl player on my desk. (I don't have a clue when this was invented and I don't really care, It's an AU use your imaginations.)

Daniel- What is that? It looks funny hah.

Joey- It's a vinyl player.

Daniel- What does it do?

Joey- It plays music!

Daniel- Music?

Joey- Yeah! Remember at my birthday last year, my Dad hired a jazz band from the village to play music. (Again, AU, they can have jazz in medieval times if I want them to.)

Daniel- Oh yeah! That was so cool! I don't think that you can fit a band in here Joey...

Joey- No silly, just watch.

I flick the vinyl player on and then pull out a vinyl from my desk draw. It read CLOSER - KENTON CHEN. (Listen!!)

I place it on the vinyl player before turning the hand crank and bringing down the needle.

Music began to pour from the amplifier atop the vinyl player.

Daniel- Wow! That's so cool!

Joey- Yeah!

I began to sing along.

Joey- Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you. I drink too much and that's an issue but it's okay.

I held onto his hands and began to sway, making him sway too and he giggled.

Joey- You can tell your friends it was nice to meet them but I hope I never see them again.

Daniel- I know it breaks your heart.

Joey- Now you're looking pretty in a hotel bar.

Daniel- And I, I, I, I, I can't stop.

Joey- No I, I, I, I, I can't stop.

Daniel- So baby pull me closer.

Joey- That I know you can't afford. Bite that tattoo.

Daniel- Pull the sheets right off the corner.

Joey- Of the mattress that you stole.

Joey and Daniel- We ain't ever getting older!

(I know these aren't in order but they don't have rovers or roommates back in Boulder so just deal.)

We both giggle and fool around dancing like crazy jazz performers.

 After the song had finished and we were all tired from dancing like crazy people we lied down on the bed for a few minutes. Just talking about random dumb things, that to anyone else would have seemed pointless but to me it was everything because it was time I was spending with him.

Daniel- You know that song was right.

Joey- What do you mean?

Daniel- 'We ain't ever getting older' we should start just enjoying every moment we have to together instead of worrying about the future so much.

Joey- You know what? You are right. Any moment with you is worth more than a thousand where I never knew you.

Daniel- Awe! Same to you!

Joey- But that does actually remind me.

Daniel- What about?

Joey- Yeah, I have to get going to... um... courting.

I said sadly not knowing how Daniel would react.

Daniel- Okay, well I am on duty floor mopping in the main hall, so I get to watch!

Joey- Yay!

Even though I would still hate it, having Daniel in the same room would make me more comfortable and why wouldn't I want to look at him all afternoon? I mean have you seen him?

Daniel- See you in a few sweetie.

He kissed my cheek and walked over to the window to go the long way around to the main hall.

Joey- Bye Danny, I love you!

Daniel- Bye Jojo, I love you too!

He called before disappearing over the balcony ledge.

I change into some more formal clothing and make my way to the main hall where my Father is already waiting for me.

King- Hello Son.

Joey- Afternoon Father.

I greet him emotionlessly and we sit in our thrones at the front of the main hall. The Queen and Nichole were also in their thrones. 

After about ten minutes of meeting young princesses my mother and sister left for they were busy today.

Then I hear the door open and in came a cute little Danny (cinnamon roll).

He had a bucket and a mop and began mopping down the side of the hall. I sighed turning my attention away from the Princess that my Father was engrossed in conversation with and turn it to my boy.

Daniel knew I was looking at him and he knew neither my Father nor the Princess could see him since their gaze was the opposite direction.

Daniel took this opportunity to stop mopping. He took the mop and held it to his mouth as if it were a floor length microphone. He began to lip sync the song we were listening to before while silently dancing as if he was a lead singer in a jazz band. I am I pretty good lip reader so I knew what he was mouthing.

Violently swaying he mouthed;

'You, look as good as the day I met you.'

'I forget just why I left you.'

'I was insane.'

'Stay.'

'Play that blink 182 song'

'That we beat to death in Tuscon.'

'Okay.'

'I know it breaks your heart.'

'Now you're lookin' pretty in a hotel bar.'

'And I, I, I, I, I can't stop.'

'No I, I, I, I, I can't stop.'

'So baby pull me closer.'

'I know you can't afford.'

'Bite that tattoo.'

'Pull the sheets right off the corner.'

'Of the mattress that you stole.'

'We ain't ever getting older!'

'WOOOOOAHAAHH!'

He dramatically pretended to hit the high note

'So baby pull me close-'

My father and the young princess turned their heads to me to ask a question, Daniel now in their view of sight and he cut his lip sync off and pretended he had been mopping the entire time. What an idiot, and I mean that with love.

King- Joseph?

Joey- What? Oh sorry could you repeat the question.

King- Pay attention boy. I said; What do you think of Princess Cat?

He asked gesturing to the Princess before me who had an eager look on their face.

Sure she pretty and whatever but she's not my type, like at all, as in wrong gender...

Joey- She's lovely.

King- Then it's settled! She is the one you shall wed!

WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?

I glanced back at Daniel, who had heard what the King said.

He looked up at me sorrowfully before mouthing;

'It's okay, we ain't ever getting older.'

The future holds what it holds, we both knew that.

I plastered a cheery fake smile on my face.

Joey- Great!

I said with fake enthusiasm but both of them took it as excitement.

King- Wonderful! Joseph you are excused for now but I will see you later. Princess Cat, come with me, we have many details to discuss.

The two wondered off and out of the room leaving me and Daniel alone in the hall.

I remained seated on my throne and buried my face in my hands. Daniel put down his mop and came over to me.

Daniel- Hey Jo it's okay.

Joey- I know it's just I- I really- I just- I didn't ever want this day to come, even though we always knew it would...

Daniel- I know J but just remember, whatever happens, I will always love you and we ain't ever getting older.
