Daniel's POV

I grabbed onto Joey's outstretched hand and he pulled me up onto the back of his horse, my chest pressed into his back. I didn't know what to do so I just awkwardly sat there. He let go of my hand and I really wish he hadn't. 

Joey- Here put your arms around me. U-uh to you know.. help you keep your balance.

Daniel- Okay.

I put my arms lightly around his waist and I felt a sudden rush of butterflies in my stomach; actually they felt more like eagles in a big frenzy.

Once I got comfortable in the saddle he lightly tapped the horse with his ankles to make it move forward. I let out a squeak as I started slipping off sideways and I wrapped my arms around his waist a lot tighter than before. Joey just chuckled and I could feel the eagles in my stomach slowly subsiding but still remaining as butterflies. I laid the side of my face on his shoulder and looked out at the incredible view as we made our way higher and higher up the mountain. It was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep to the steady rhythm of the horse's hooves.

Joey's POV

Daniel's arms were wrapped tightly around my waist and his face was pressed into my shoulder. I love this feeling, I wish it could last forever and I could experience this every single day. Maybe this is what having a friend feels like, I've never really had one before (Sure hunty). I think Daniel was about to fall asleep so I told him we had made it.

Joey- Daniel.

I said softly and he sleepily replied;

Daniel- Hmm?

Joey- We are at the top now.

He lifted his head off my shoulder and looked around.

Daniel- Wow! This view is incredible!

Joey- I know. I come up here often, it's so magical.

We dismount my horse and I lead him over to the edge to look at the view.

Daniel- Look, the river goes right down the side of the mountain.

Joey- Yeah and it cuts right through the forest and out to sea.

Daniel- The sea?! That must be the ocean where my boat washed up from! I've never seen the sea before!

Joey- You've never been to the ocean before? Why not?

Daniel- I haven't even been outside the kingdom walls in years and years. My lifestyle doesn't usually spare time for things like exploring, I was always just trying to earn money to support my parents because they were too old to be working a lot. This mountain is probably the farthest I've been since I was very young, maybe even a baby, before they found me.

He's practically been a prisoner his whole life and only just now is he actually one.

Joey- That's so sad. You'll have to come exploring with me more often then.

Daniel- Are you sure Joey? I doubt the king would be too happy if he knew I was here.

Joey- Don't worry about it, as long as you're with me you'll be fine.

He smiled and I realized what I had just said. OMG I can't believe I just said that! I'm being so obvious that I like him! Luckily he changed the subject.

Daniel- So how big is the sea?

Joey- I don't know, I've never sailed across it but if you sail for many, many days you will reach another country.

Daniel- There's more land out there? But this is so much!

He said gesturing to what we could see from the mountain top.

Joey- There's so much more our there Daniel. What we can see from here is such a tiny portion of the Earth!

Daniel- Wow, that's so amazing!

(A/N: Starts singing Aladdin A Whole New World.)

I turn around and point to a large pond at the other side of the mountain top.

Joey- Look Daniel. When it snows, a bunch of it gathers here and then it melts into this big pond. Then when the water levels are high enough the water goes through those boulders and the river flows all the way down the mountain and to sea!

(A/N: I know this doesn't make logical sense but oh well just deal with it! I needed a pond. The mountain top is quite big and flat-ish)

Daniel- Can we go swimming in the pond?

Joey-  I don't know, it's probably really cold...

I said unsure, not really wanting to die of hypothermia. He frowned with big, adorable, puppy eyes and said;

Daniel- Awwh are you sure it'll be fun!

I gave into his puppy eyes.

Joey- Ah.. alright fine! But if I die of hypothermia it's on you!

Daniel- Oh hurry up, you sissy.

He said quickly stripping off his clothes, apart from this underwear and dived into the water. I almost choked on air as I saw his gorgeous body, this really weren't helping my straight cover. But I recovered quickly and rolled my eyes at his silliness. I also stripped down as he finally resurfaced.

Daniel- OH MY GOSH, YOU WERE RIGHT! IT'S SO COLD!

Joey- Haha, told you so.

Daniel- Just hurry up.

Joey- But it looks so cold!

Daniel- It's fine come on, you'll get used to it right away.

Unconvinced I dove into the water.

Joey- OMG IT'S SO COLD!! I'M GOING TO DIEEE!

Daniel- Oh whatever! It's not that bad, stop being so dramatic sweeeetie.

I glared at him and he splashed me!

Joey- Oh you little... it's on!

I splashed him back and he gasped.

We played around laughing and splashing in the water for quite a while before I saw something moving around under the water.

Joey- Ahh I just saw something move under the water!

Daniel- Well duh, it's called a fish deaaaarium.

Joey- Oh right, hahaha.

He just rolled his eyes and then giggled, a really cute giggle might I add.

Daniel- Hey what's that?

He said pointing to where I could see a mysterious looking cave entrance behind the small waterfall.

Joey- It looks like a cave entrance. I don't know why I've never noticed it before.

Daniel- Probably because you haven't gone swimming in here before so you wouldn't be able to see it. 

Joey- Yeah, I usually just sit and look at the view.

Daniel- Well c'mon then, let's go check it out!

He said enthusiastically and I just couldn't say no.

Joey- Alright.

Maybe I like him more than a friend?
