Chapter 12 - Jailed

"Ah, to be back here again." Fenna looked at the outside of the castle,"Feels like it was only yesterday."

"It was practically yesterday." Natasha muttered.

"Chess piece, stop talking."Fenna turned to her.

"Witch, stop talking." Natasha turned to Fenna.

Fenna rolled her eyes as she looked at her.

"Cat got your tongue?" Natasha smirked while they walked in and to the throne room, "Father! Mother!"

"Am I going to meet the King?" Fenna asked her.

"Stop talking." Natasha shot a glare at Fenna.

"It was just a question, chess piece." Fenna crossed her arms.

"Yes. You are." Natasha finally answered her while they all walked in the room.

"But I don't want to, he sounds like a-" Fenna stopped herself when she saw the crowded room.

"Sounds like a what? Go on." Natasha's smirk grew as she seen the Lords and Ladies along with her parents

"A d*ck! He sounds like a d*ck!" Fenna finished, watching the faces of the mortals around her.

That's when she seen, assuming it was the king, getting up and walking over to Fenna, "Who does, my dear?"

"You do. I mean, come on, pick one goddamn wife. You don't need two." Fenna rolled her eyes.

There was a few gasps from around the room, whispers began.

"The Queen is my wife, Diane is my mistress, every king has one." Henry spat, "Now, what have you done with my daughter? From what I've been told by Natasha and Princess Amala, you've brainwashed her. Not to mentioned, you stole her husband, turned her kingdom against her and endangered her life."

"Amala doesn't have a husband. He was being forced to marry her so we broke him out. Not to mention the fact that I was chained to the wall during the whole ceremony!" Fenna looked at Amala,"Have you been telling lies about me?"

"Of course not. I've only told them what horrors you've done." Amala shrugged.

"I'd hardly call liberating a kingdom of their heartless ruler, saving my best friend from a loveless marriage and restoring the magic balance horrors now, Amala." Fenna swung her chains back and forth.

"No, I believe the chains should stay." Catherine spoke, walking up to them, "She's dangerous. Henry, she still hasn't told you where your daughter is."

"Are you just going to let this happen Catherine? After everything this man has done, you want to stand by him?" Fenna questioned her.

"You are not permitted to call me Catherine, it is your highness." Catherine pointed.

"Right then, your highness. Now, I have absolutely no clue where your other daughter is. They left without really looking because I'm the actual threat here." Fenna informed them.

"And you've brainwashed her to do your evil schemes?" Catherine asked.

"I told you I'm not evil, you've all been brainwashed by her." Fenna gestured to Amala,"You believe everything that comes out her mouth, even the false statements."

"The last time you were here, you set the place on fire. That shows just how evil you are. God bless your soul." Catherine shook her head.

"I didn't set the place on fire. I made a portal with my magic and took your daughter to the Council of Elders, who might I add, will be very cross if they find me dead by your hands."

"The Council are a myth. They are simply stories for children." Catherine scoffed, "Guards, I think that's enough talk. Take this witch to the Tower so we all can discuss what is to happen to her."

"For the last time, I'm not a witch." Fenna tossed her hair to the side to show her ears,"The real witch is standing beside me."

"Oh heavens." Catherine gasped, seeing Fenna's ears, "Take her away immediately."

That's when some guards grabbed Fenna and carted her off to a high tower. After a few hours of being alone, she heard some footsteps coming down the hallway.

"Hello? Is someone coming to see me?" Fenna asked the footsteps

"You bet." A familiar voice hummed while the door unlocked, and in walked Sparrow.

"Oh, so you finally decided to appear?" Fenna asked her.

"Well it is difficult getting here yourself when you don't have the ability to create portals." Sparrow sighed, closing the door.

She then put a bowl of food on the small table, along with some water.

"You wouldn't have needed to do any of that if you had gone with the others and let me take this one." Fenna picked up the glass.

"You really think I'm going to let you die?" Sparrow shook her head.

"I mean, if I die here then they would've had no way to get you guys by the time you collected the final two relics." Fenna sipped from the glass and sat it down

"That is what the others are doing while I get you out of here." Sparrow nodded, "What happened when you arrived?"

"I maybe insulted the king, forgot to address Catherine as 'Your Highness' and showed them I'm an elf." Fenna told her.

Sparrow blinked, "You did what now?

"You didn't tell me how sensitive these mortals are." Fenna crossed her arms.

"Trust me. They get much worse." Sparrow sighed, "Did they say anything about whats to happen to you?"

"No, but I think they're mad at me." Fenna shook her head.

"I would say so." Sparrow nodded, "How long have you been in here?"

"Few hours, I'd say." Fenna shrugged,"I got bored counting the seconds."

"I'm going to get you out, okay? It will take some time, of course, but I will." Sparrow nodded to her friend.

"I don't mind, I'll die for this." Fenna told her sitting down,"I know they'll be watching."

"There is nothing you have did wrong. You're innocent." Sparrow looked at Fenna.

"Not in their eyes." Fenna stated,"Besides, it'll keep them distracted."

"I'm not letting them kill you, that's a promise." Sparrow promised her.

Fenna's head perked up at the sound of heavy footsteps,"You need to leave now."

Sparrow moved to the door and poked her head out of it to see who was coming.

"Go." Fenna shooed her friend,"They can't catch you here."

"Hide the food and water, don't leave a trace. I'll be back." Sparrow hugged Fenna before she put up her hood on her cloak and left, locking the door.

Fenna nodded, sliding the food and water under the bench before looking up to see who was coming.

"Who were you talking to?" The guard leant against the door.

"Myself, I'm bored." Fenna crossed her arms.

"Sad times for you." The guard shrugged, "And it was another voice."

"Question for you, sir. Do you trust a 'witch'?" Fenna questioned the guard.

"Of course not." The guard rolled his eyes.

"Well then, why do you all trust Amala so much?" Fenna asked.

"Because she is not a witch." The guard stated.

"Do you even know how to determine if someone's a witch?" Fenna questioned him.

"I'm a guard, not a witch hunter." The guard sighed.

"Well, I'll say it simply so your tiny mortal brain might understand. Witches have special markings that they are born with somewhere on their body." Fenna explained.

"So?" The guard looked at her.

"If you check along her collar, you will find green markings. They represent her ability of manipulation." Fenna told him.

"Well, I'll pass that information onto my captain." The guard nodded.

"If you can't find it use lemon juice, she might try using a masking spell." Fenna added.

"Lemon juice is rather expensive at this moment due to the rations but I'll see what we can do." The guard told her, although Fenna could tell he wasn't fully believing her.

"Well, I hope you have a pleasant experience. Any words on how I'm going to die?" Fenna asked him.

"Yes. We can't share that information with prisoners though." He shrugged.

"Can I at least know when I'm dying or is that a secret to?" Fenna tilted her head.

"Secret." He replied.

"Why are mortals so secretive? Is it required?" Fenna sighed, beginning to walk around her cell.

"Well, goodnight witch." The guard chapped her cell before he left.

"Elf." Fenna corrected him before muttering,"Oblivious little b*tch."

Fenna heard the guard bang against the door until he was fully gone.

"Am I the only prisoner here or are there other people?" Fenna called out, hoping that others had been imprisoned so she wasn't alone.

"There's others. We just don't like talking." An old woman spoke out loud.

"Some of us been doing it for years, darling." The woman stated.

"You have the patience of a god." Fenna told her,"Why are you in here?"

"Attempted robbery." She sighed.

"What did you try to steal?" Fenna asked her.

"The princesses jewels." She hummed.

"Damn, I just kidnapped the princess and am being accused of witchcraft." Fenna shrugged.

"You were the one who kidnapped the princess? Nice job." She laughed.

"It was important, the Council needed to see her and we got sidetracked." Fenna crossed her arms.

"Did you get anything for it?" She questioned.

"We went and collected most of the magical relics so we could restore the magic balance before I was caught." Fenna informed her.

"I meant money wise, sweetie." The old woman clarified.

"No, no, I didn't get paid. I was just getting her as my father requested. Well, he's basically my father." Fenna answered.

"So.. Did your daddy get anything for her?" She asked, of course she was asking this.

"No, they just wanted to see her because she's the first mortal they'd heard had magic powers." Fenna explained.

"The.. Princess.. Has powers?" The woman asked slowly.

"You didn't know?" Fenna asked before sighing,"Surprise?"

"You're joking, right?" She laughed.

"She moves water." Fenna stated, resting on the bench.

"The princess can't have powers. It's forbidden." She told her.

"You mortals are strange. All you do is push away what you can never understand." Fenna crossed her arms, noticing some dents in her chains.

"So what you're saying sweetie. Is that the princess, soon to be Queen has water powers? She can get herself executed if anyone finds out." She realised.

"What's the difference between her and Nostradamus? He has powers too." Fenna asked.

"The Seer? They're allowed. I mean, the Queen keeps him around for a reason." She laughed.

"Well, I'll never understand these things." Fenna shrugged, starting to bang her chains against the bench.

"That's not going to work." She sighed, "Trust me, I've tried."

"I'm not trying to break them, just weaken them so I can busy out during my execution." Fenna explained, not stopping.

"Nice try." She laughed.

"Look, I'm either dying or setting someone on fire. I'd prefer the second option." Fenna sighed.

"Well aren't you feisty." She joked.

"I was raised in the woods by a Werewolf, an Elder elf and the trees." Fenna stated, stopping the banging.

"Alright. Now you're getting too crazy." She sighed.

"I'm not crazy, just a bit different." Fenna shrugged.

"Werewolves and elves are old tales which you read to children. Maybe they should put you along side them." She suggested.

"So you're saying I'm not real?" Fenna questioned, standing up.

"I'm saying you're a bit crazy, my dear." She stated.

"Oh hey, someone's coming." Fenna pointed out, hearing footsteps again.

"Marlene, stop harassing my friend." Sparrow sighed while she passed her cell.

"I wouldn't say harassment, I need social interaction because there's no plants here." Fenna crossed her arms.

"Actually," Sparrow unlocked the door and walked in with a plant pot, a few flowers planted, "It's the best I could get, unnoticed."

Fenna gasped as she took the plant pot,"Hi, how are you all doing?"

"Do you like them?" Sparrow questioned.

"I do, thank you very much." Fenna nodded as she sat in the floor with the pot.

"I'm going to reveal myself, once we finish talking." Sparrow sat on the chair, "I'm going to try and convince them that you're the good one, not Amala."

"They won't listen~" Fenna mused, tapping on the edge of the pot.

"Well, it's better than nothing." Sparrow sighed.

"I'm going to die, either way. It won't make a difference." Fenna shrugged.

"I'm not going down without a fight." Sparrow looked at her friend.

"I'll go quietly then." Fenna stated, nudging a flower.

"Fenna, you cannot just accept the death that shouldn't be yours." Sparrow played with the hem of her dress.

"Watch me. Besides, death isn't that bad." Fenna told her.

"But you have nothing to die for." Sparrow pointed out.

"Look, you'll be fine without me. You'll still have the others, your family and your kingdom." Fenna shook her head.

"But you have so much more in your life to do. A mortal shouldn't out live her immortal friend." Sparrow stated.

"Look, just accept it. I've accepted my demise, I'm ready. In the vast scheme of things, I'm not all that important." Fenna looked up at her.

"You mean so much to so many people." Sparrow sighed.

Fenna looked off into the distance for a few moments before turning back to Sparrow,"I hope you're not mad but I told Marlene about your powers."

"Marlene, say anything to anyone and I won't bring you cookies." Sparrow threatened through the wall.

"You have cookies?!" Fenna questioned.

"That's right." Sparrow stood up, "You were to try one."

She took one from outside, she had a small basket and handed one to Fenna.

"Thank you." Fenna nodded as she started eating.

"You're welcome." Sparrow nodded.

Fenna finished quickly before she began shooing Sparrow away again.

"What?" Sparrow asked, going out the cell.

"There's a group, somewhat heavy and they're coming this way." Fenna explained.

"Guards." Sparrow sighed.

"This'll be fun, do you think they'll want to talk to me?" Fenna asked.

"It all depends." Sparrow shrugged, "I'll see you soon."

She gave a quick hug before she ran off.

"Bye." Fenna waved.

"Witch!" The head guard walked to her cell and banged on it, not caring if it woke Fenna or any others.

"What?!" Fenna snapped at him, annoyed by his tone.

"You want to know your execution day?" He asked.

"Well yeah, of course I do." Fenna answered,"Are you going to tell me."

"I don't know, should I?" The guard asked the other guards.

"Don't ask them, their input doesn't matter." Fenna stood up and walked to the door.

"Tomorrow. 3 o'clock." The guard shrugged.

"You're going to make me wait? Why not just kill me now and get it over with?" Fenna sighed.

"Royal executions need spectators. It's getting quite late as it is." The guard chuckled.

"Are you selling tickets? Is it a celebration or something?" Fenna questioned, she liked wasting the guard's time.

"No and no." The guard stated.

"Is there at least going to be fire? I like fire." Fenna informed him.

"The way you die, shall be a secret. Goodbye, witch." He spat before he left.

"I was just asking if there was fire, I never asked how I was going to die." Fenna muttered.

~Different scene~

Everyone was in the throne room, talking. But soon they heard some clattering from outside the halls.

"What do you suppose that is?" Amala asked Natasha.

"Probably some clumsy maid." Natasha shrugged.

"What we don't know can't hurt us." Amala nodded.

Then all of a sudden, the doors flung open and in walked Sparrow.

"We need to talk." She looked at Henry.

"Sparrow?" Bash questioned as Henry stood up.

"What do you need to talk about?" Henry asked her.

"How you're sentencing my friend to death." Sparrow stopped in front of Henry.

"That witch is not your friend." Henry stated.

"She is my friend, she has been for a while now. And all because you listen to a girl who you've never met before, you decide to execute her?" Sparrow asked, crossing her arms.

"She has no respect for my authority." Henry told her,"She insulted me and my wife too."

"That's what she's like! So what?" Sparrow exclaimed, she was mad.

"It is not your place to decide these things!" Henry shot back at her.

Sparrow quietened down, "Fenna is my friend, she means no harm. I do not know what lies Amala has fed you, but they are true."

"What's going on?" Bash turned to look at them both, he hadn't been informed of an execution.

"Fenna is getting executed because of the lies Amala and Natasha have told our father." Sparrow walked over to him, "You talked to Fenna, she would never hurt a fly."

Bash just stood there, a bit confused before turning around,"What did you tell him? I didn't get my brains from him, I promise."

"The truth." Amala replied.

"It's a lie. All of it." Sparrow looked at Amala.

"How is she to die, father?" bash turned back around.

"She is to die the natural way witches perish. By burning." Henry replied.
