Hell lot of works pending.. I don’t know what the superiors are doing!!! At this end it is becoming impossible to tackle the customer demands….. Murmurs Naina to herself while putting in piles of file in the rack, oblivious to the presence of a new face in her room and that her subordinate is standing up right there in front of the new face.

     Who is the incharge? Please elaborate the pendency of the branch in details… a heavy yet high pitched unfamiliar voice made Naina turn to find a  spectacled early to mid 40 figure on the heavy side, about 6ft, fair standing authoratively.

      Yes.. May I know who you are? Asks Naina in a sober yet confident voice looking straight at his eyes.. Surprisingly she felt, the unknown face shivered a little.. well atleast it seemed so.

      Ive been given the charge of your working division temporarily and hence im here madam. If you please let me know about the detailed pendency’s, it would be helpful for me to issue sanctions or necessary permissions wherever required. Im new to your working division and I really have no idea. So im here upto the branches personally to see and find the requirements so that I can do my part back in the headquarter next Monday.. says the man.. his voice has a soft pleading tone mixed, yet his demeanor of a boss! Seemed the man was totally surprised at her question. May be he was a bit taken aback but didn’t want to show that publicly. The difference caught Nainas attention quickly and why it wouldn’t? She has a liking in observing peoples body language and words.. She loves reading people silently and drawing conclusions in her mind. And she never failed in the conclusions about the peoples that she derived.  

      Just a counter question and this change! Interesting! She thought and unknowingly a  feather light smile passed her lips..

      Ive been to so many offices.. but never ever someone asked me who I was! In the office campus.. until today.. this lady…. Should I be angry? But I liked the confidence in her voice. It kinda moved me… Wait.. is she smiling? Has she guessed whats in my mind? No.. not possible.. I haven’t said anything that reflects my inner state. It was strict official!! A pool of unattended thoughts crossed his mind within few seconds. 

    Well.. he hardly knew… he is standing before a soul hunter. Its said that people meets for reasons. Everything is destined to happen. What has destiny decided for them? The first meet is nothing special. Yet each of them succeeded in crossing others mind !

    Umnn Sir, actually a lot is pending since January this year. Says Naina, who by the time understood that the man standing in front is the Superintendent of Income Tax. She pulls out 2/3 files and places them on the table.  Sir, please have a seat, she says sweetly.

Thanks. But I’m in a hurry. Please summarize. Says the man.

   Sir, actually there’s hell lot of pending sanctions at HQ level. Without proper sanction or permission, we are not able to proceed for the next level works. Around 63 cases I’ve forwarded to HQ and all are pending! Says Naina with confidence again as she knows very well that she cant be sued in any way. She has done her part with proper reminder letters each week.

    63?? Well that’s a lot. Okay. Send Aman a list of the pendency’s instant. I’ll see to all of those on Monday once I reach HQ. He says again in assuring voice. But Madam, has something been done about the incentive bills those were sent at your end yesterday for correction. Do it early and send email by today as I would like to sanction those bills as well on Monday. The man asks.. or states.. or whatever. His eyes on the lady, standing in front of him.

Is he trying to find topics to talk more?

    Yes Sir, I have received the bills yesterday late evening. Ive checked once and found plenty of mistakes out there. There are about 196 entries amongst which hardly 18 are correct. Ive started my work sir, but, this will take time as I need to check each case in detail to rectify the mistakes. But sir, the letter itself says that I have 7 days time to correct and comply. So… by today evening……..!!! she leaves her sentence incomplete being surprised..

     7 days! The man says. His voice seems a little disappointed by now and Naina catches it too soon. Umnnn… please try to do it by today or tomorrow and send email to HQ. I will do the needful on Monday. He tries to continue on the same topic.

      Sir, by tomorrow, its gonna be really tough as I said you that I need to go through every small details of so many cases to correct the bills. I shall try my level best, but cant assure.. Says Naina bluntly, a little anger evident in her voice.

     Yes.. try.. I know you can do. My people are efficient and I have full faith.. he says and turns to leave, but, not before smiling a little at startled Naina..

       It takes a few seconds for Naina to register what just happened and before she could react, he was gone!

  Divya, Nainas sub ordinate cum friend who was a silent spectator to the entire conversation comes closer… see. Gone!! You were supposed to leave office early today right Niana?? And now.. we both are fucked man!!!

 Divyas voice tests her patience and Naina finally shouts loud…..do these people have any work? These corrections are to be carried out at his end and see… diverting his offices work here, this man is pressing to complete it prior to the scheduled date! What rubbish!!

Yes.. and see.. he didn’t even give a chance to answer! Complains Divya.

Order is order… lets get to work Divya. But I wont spare this man see. If the 63 pendency’s are not being cleared by Monday evening, I shall give this mans phone number to each of the Customer and then these bossy people will understand, how pathetic it is to answer customer queries!! Naina, determined and annoyed at the same time.

    By the way what the hell is this man’s name? From where has he come? I don’t remember ive seen this man before! asks annoyed naina.

    Rajveer Singh Shekhawat, Assistant Director of IT. As far as I know he was in Bhubaneshwar before he was posted at RO Ranchi. And now he has been given the additional charge of our working Division for few days in the absence of Nayyar Sir. Says Divya informing Naina about her new encounter.

        A long man and a long name as well.. smiles naina oblivious to her ownself as she blurts out the words.

      But the man is good looking na? winks Divya as she finds naina smiling.
  
Hmnnn… not bad.. Naina smiles again..  we have atleast one eye candy clean shaved officer amongst the pack of bearded oldies. .. giggles naina.

   Oh owwwww.. not bad.. Mrs Naina seems impressed.. teases Divya.

   Oh stop being such a tease Div! lets get to work. Else it takes very little time for these hella diplomatic administrative people to change from such sweet to like muchhad Nayyar !! Naina says as she playfully taps divyas shoulder.

   The two young ladies did complete the work assigned that day. Afterall, it was Naina who was incharge of the branch and she likes challenges.. both the way. Accepting and challenging!!

   Lets see Mr Rajveer Singh Sekhawat, what do you do on Monday!! Whicpers Naina as se latches the door of her office room, night at 8.30. There Abhimanyu waiting for her!
