Chapter 5
As the class proceeded, we were told to make the potion Draught of the Living Death. Who ever made the potion most perfect would win a bottle of liquid luck. And you want to know who won the liquid luck? Well it wasn't me!
"When did you become so good at potions?" I sneered at Harry as we left potions class. "If I remember correctly, I was the one not only tutoring you last year, but I was also completing your homework half of the time!"
"You never did our homework!" Ron said.
"Yeah, but I knew you copied," I said like a know it all. "Now tell me Harry, how in gods name did you do it?"
"I would also like to know," Hermione added.
"I s'pose you think I've cheated," Harry admitted.
"That's exactly what I was thinking," I heaved as Hermione said, "Well it wasn't exactly your work, was it?"
"He followed different instructions then our books," Ron told us. "Could have been catastrophic if they were wrong, couldn't it have? But you took a risk and it paid off." Ron heaved a sigh. "I could have gotten that book. My book had no writing on it. I think there might have been puke on page five but no writing-"
"Silence your whining, Ron," I snapped. I was very agitated at the moment. I hated when people where better then me at the things I excelled at. But it ticked me off further that he is really horrid at potions.
"Hang on," Ginny's voice appeared from next to Ron. "Did I hear right? You're taking instructions from a book?"
"Have you learned nothing from our experience?" Alex asked Harry from beside Ginny.
"Yes, but it's nothing like Riddle's diary!" Harry argued. "It's just an old book that that someone's scribbled on."
Ginny seemed pissed at the moment and nothing was changing that mood for her.
I on the other hand was a bit confused... Riddle's diary... it sounds familiar but what- ohhhh the book that possessed Ginny and Alex. Yes, I was told that story last year.
"But your doing what it says?" Ginny asked.
"I've just taken in some of the hints written on the sides," Harry coincided. "There's nothing funny about it-"
"Ginny's got a point, Harry," Hermione said. "We ought to check that there's nothing wrong with it."
She tried grabbing the book from him, but Harry pulled it closer to his chest and have her a look whilst saying, "Hey!"
"Accio," I chanted pointing my wand at the book as it soared from Harry's grasp to my hands.
"Specialis Revelio!" I casted pointing my want at the book.
When nothing happened Harry looked at me with an irritable look. "Finished? Or do you want to wait for it to do back flips."
"Seems fine, Mr. Master of Sass," I snapped.
He snatched the book back into his grip before walking ahead of us.
"I think we should get him a chill pill," Ginny sighed.
"I think you should kiss him," I mumbled.
"What?" she asked.
"What?" I repeated.
She shook her head, but I could tell she was blushing as she quickened her speed and walked away from us.
~~~
"I have to go, Dumbledore wants me," Harry said walking out of the common room.
"Have fun," I chuckled.
He shook his head at me sighing. "I'll tell you three what happens when I get back," he told us before leaving.
Once the portrait whole closed behind him, I jumped up.
"Come on, Hermione," I whined pulling her arm as she sat on the couch. "We got to go now or we'll have no time!"
"What's happening right now?" Ron asked confused.
"Bella and I are going to the library to see if we can check school records to see who this 'half-blood prince' is," Hermione explained getting off the couch.
While I was examining Harry's precious book, I saw that the cover of the book said Property of the Half-Blood Prince.
"Oh, well have fun with that...," Ron said. "I would come but-"
"Don't even try, Ron," I laughed. "We weren't going to ask you to join us anyways. You would have just feel asleep while reading a book then damage it by drooling on it."
"That's not true!"
"Oh, don't even try, Ronald," Hermione chuckled. "You did it in our Fourth Year when we were helping Harry with the second task."
"That- that, that was different," He stuttered. "It was late and we were readying all day-"
"Bye, Ron," we said together before waking out of the portrait hole and heading to the library.
Once we got to the library I followed Hermione to a section.
"Okay, you get these five rows, and I'll get these five rows," Hermione instructed. "And holler if you find anything!"
She walked to the furthest row away from where I was standing. Alrighty then.
I walked into one of the rows and scanned through the books.
Most Excelled Potion Students 1950-1959
I shrugged and slid the book out of its position in the shelf.
I opened it up to the P last name section and started going through the names.
"Hey," came a voice.
I looked up to see Draco. He looked so worn out. His grey-blue eyes were so dull they could have been just a muggy grey. His pale skin was paler and dark bags hung under his eyes. Though I couldn't help but notice that he could always pull a smile around me.
"Hey," I said giving him a toothless smile.
"Look about last night-"
"Don't worry," I sighed. "I won't judge you because of your aunt. I mean it's not like you killed anybody I loved, or anybody for that fact."
"Thank you," he sighed, his eyes not meeting mine.
"So... uhh... why did you really follow me here, Draco?" I asked.
"I have something else I need to tell you... and I not proud of it," he said shakily.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "What is it, Draco?"
"I-I didn't want t-to do it. But they forced me, a-and he said he would kill my family-"
"Spit it out, Draco, because I already don't like how this is going."
"I'm a death eater," he spit out.
My head turned so it faced the selves and I sat there. Didn't move at all. I don't even think I was breathing.
How long has he been a death eater? Has he been one this whole time? Has he just been dating me to get closer to Harry? Bet he got lucky when he found out who I really was.
But he did say he was forced, he could be in the same situation as Dylan...
I finally opened my mouth to talk after who knows how long no one has been talking for. It could have been seconds, minutes, or even hours. "I... need... space," I said calmly.
"Yeah sure," he nodded taking a step back.
I looked at him. "No, I'm breaking up with you."
His face in a snap was filled with depression. "Yeah I saw that coming... Bloody hell, I prepared myself for this but damn it hurts so much more then I expected."
"I'm sorry but I'm doing this for my safety," I said with no emotion. "I don't want you sharing information about me to Voldemort."
He flinched at the name, but nodded his head, understanding. Though he was wasn't looking at me, I could tell there were tears in his eyes.
"Please leave," I said again with no emotion.
He turned on his heel and left the section I was in.
My head turned so I was looking at the shelves again. I let my head bang onto the table and I began to cry.
I knew now, even though I didn't know Draco very well or for too long, that I had stronger feelings for him then just a 'school-girl crush'... I was in love with Draco Malfoy.
