A Boy And His Bike

A loud bang echoed throughout the entire house, followed by footsteps racing up the stairs. I opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings. I was still half asleep so I couldn't function what just happened. My bedroom door burst open.

"You idiot!" My dad roared with laughter as he notice I was laying next to my bed. Yep..that's right... I fell out of the bed and didn't even notice.

I didn't say a word, I just sleepily smiled. I could hear my dad still laughing to himself once he left my room, leaving me to get up and get ready. I grabbed my clock that sat on my nightstand. 10:30. To me that was still early. Fuck it! I sighed and placed my head on the ground, curling up into a ball. It didn't phase me that I was still on the floor. I closed my eyes and fell back sleep.

I only slept an hour after the incident. Technically I didn't have a choice considering my dad was shouting me, telling me my grandma was on the phone and wanted to speak to me. 'Meh' I said to myself before finally getting off of the floor and heading downstairs. I entered the kitchen, my dad was in the middle of explain to my grandma about me falling out of the bed. He acted like it was the funniest this in the world. He smiled over at me and handed me the phone.

"Hey grandma" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes.

"Good morning, did you sleep well?" Her soft voice gave me comfort.

"I did, how are you?" A plate of pancakes was placed in front of me. I high fived my dad.

As I ate, my grandma asked how my first day on Santa Carla had been. Dad had already informed her about Madison. Memories came flooding back from the night, one person in particular. Marko. I barely knew him, but there was a strange attraction to him. There was something about him.

-

"Chandler is by far the best character on friends!" I blurted out.

"I'm gonna have to disagree with you and go with Joey" she argued back, reaching over and stealing a handful of fries off of my plate.

I spent a majority of the day with Madison. She didn't have a day shift, which benefited me tones. Even though I wasn't one for shopping, it's what our day consisted of.

"Can you believe it's already half 8" I exclaimed looking at her watch.

"Shit! I better get to work or else I'm going to be fired. I'm meant to be covering for someone" Madison stood up. "I'll speak to my boss about getting you a job their, we have a vacancy"

"You don't have to.." I began to protest.

"Shut up, I'm doing it. Same time tomorrow?" I nodded and watched her jog off.

I scanned the crowd to see if I could find him, but he was no where to be seen. I huffed and decide to make my way down to the beach. In the distance, I heard the sound of motorcycles approaching the boardwalk. I took no notice. I slipped of my shoes, picked them up and walked towards the ocean. The sand was soft against my feet but cold, just how I liked it. I found a spot a few inches away from the water and took a seat.

I looked out, studying the ocean. It was such a pretty colour during the day, but at night dark and dull. As I watched the calm waves come and go I started to daydream, blocking out everything.

"Penny for your thoughts?" I heard a familiar voice say next to me. I'm not going to lie, my heart fluttered. I looked up to see Marko, hiding a smirk behind his gloved hand.

"Oh I'm sorry" I apologised. Trying my best not to smile but failing miserably.

"It's fine...Naomi?"

"Yes Naomi well done" I giggled.

"I told you I'd see you tonight" He teased.

"Aaa a man of his word I see" I sarcastically replied. We both sat in silence, admiring the earths creation. Marko stood up, brushing the sand off of his clothes and reaching his hand out to me. I shot him a confused look and he chuckled.

"Would you like to go for a ride?" He asked.

"Oh no thank you, I went on a few earlier and-" I stopped speaking when he began to laugh at me. His laugh was adorable. So was he.

"No silly, a ride on my motorcycle" Boy did I sound like a fool. I gave the idea a thought before declining.

"I think it's best if I stay on the boardwalk.my dad would kill me if he found out" I explained giving him an apologetic look. The smile on his face dropped at my rejection. I felt terrible.

"What he doesn't know won't hurt him"I opened my mouth to speak but out eyes locked, I forgot everything I was about to say. I found myself getting lost in his eyes, they were so hypnotising. I gave the idea a second thought. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. I mean you only live once right? I looked up at him, flashing a mischievous smile, earning one back from him. I took ahold of his outstretched hand letting him lead me to his bike.

"What's the matter?" He asked, seeing that I hadn't climbed on behind him.

"I've never been on one before" I admitted. Marko grinned and showed me how to get on correctly so I didn't damage his bike. Once on, I wrapped my arms tightly around his waist, already afraid that I was going to fall off, maybe break an arm or two.

"Guess I don't need to tell you to hold on" He joked. I grinned and he revved the engine. 'Oh boy!' My conscience squeaked. Before I could object, he took off.

Marko didn't ride too fast, I think he could sense how nervous I was. I couldn't help but throw my head back, letting the wind blow through my hair. It felt incredible. I held onto him a little tighter as he turned the corners. I rest my head on his back. The bike started to slow down, finally coming to a stop. Marko got off the bike, giving me a chance to catch my breath, he then helped me off.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"My favourite place" he replied, taking a hold of my hand.

-Sam's P.O.V-

"Have they bothered you at all?" I asked Alan, placing a cup of coffee in front of him and Edgar. They both thanked me.

"Nah they stuck to their deal, it's difficult for us to do the same but we have" Alan told me in disgust.

"They're still killing innocent people" Edgar spat, banging his fist on the table.

It had been a long time since the summer of 1987 and our encounter with the 'Lost Boys'. It was a horrible part of my teenage years I'll never forget. Until that time, I never thought vampires existed, just urban legend. Max, somehow, changed Michael, Star and Laddie back human. The deal was, we don't bother them and they don't bother us. A very difficult deal to agree too. We could've easily killed them but at the same time, we could've been the ones to die.

"With all due respect Sam, you're putting your daughter's life at stake!" Edgar said. "How would you feel if they get to her. They don't know she's your child"

"Edgar, stop!" Alan warned. Edgar ignored him.

"No! If we had just killed them in the first place. You wouldn't have to be so damn protective over her here. How can you call yourself a responsible parent after bringing her here? You've put her in so much danger" At this point, I lost it. I stood up, getting in his face.

"I have done everything in my power to make sure my little girl is safe! Even before coming here. And I would die before I let anything happen to her, have you got that? I moved back here for my job, because it's the only place I can afford to give her a home to live in, food to eat and a bed to sleep in. So don't you dare question my actions as a father Edgar"

"Then where is she now Sam?" Edgar bluntly asked.

-Naomi's P.O.V-

Me and Marko had been sat on a hill top for about 2 hours. I had gotten to know him a little better. He was a lover of animals and art, he was also half Italian. I told him why I moved to Santa Carla. I was never one to open up to a stranger but I felt like I could trust him. I felt comfortable with him. Safe. He would tease me every so often and I would return the favour. It was as if we had known each other since forever.

"It's getting late, we better get you home" the smile on my face slowly disappeared. I didn't want to leave, but I knew my dad would freak.

We climbed onto his bike. I gave him the directions to my home and he found it with ease. He parked just a little way from my home, a car sat in the drive way. Dad was home. I climbed off of the bike and watched Marko studying my dad's car, as if he recognised it from somewhere.

"Thank you for tonight Marko" I said.

"It's been a pleasure" He beamed at me. I turned to walk away but he grabbed my arm and pulled me closer to him. Was he going to kiss me?! "Where's my hug?" Oh... I giggled and he wrapped his arms around my tiny waist, pulling me into a tight yet friendly hug. The hug lasted for about five seconds and then he released me. He started his engine and sped off, but not before turning and waving goodbye to me.
