Black and White
[Recap: Mastoorah got to know about Faraan's identity that he is her father and she was hurt and furious over this fact. She left Faraan's father's house and went to Javaria's (or Hania's) house. Later on, on Eid's first day, she asked Iyad to meet her and called off their marriage.)
Faris
Two days passed like they had been given wings to fly. Iyad hadn't spoken much after he returned from meeting Mastoorah. But how much he was trying to pose as if he was fine, I knew it was affecting him so much. My son was calm and rational. He wouldn't force anyone; least of the girl he loved. As everyone could realize, he also understood Mastoorah's stance. She wasn't wrong in her place to call off their marriage. She had her own reasons and she was the one who was suffering the most.
While on the other hand, Iyad hadn't talked about this topic at all. He had given Mastoorah's ring to his mother. That was such a complicated situation. I wanted everything to fall into its place but it wasn't that easy. Mastoorah wasn't a kid and what she was doing wasn't childish. In fact, I felt bad for her as well as for my own brother. Hence I was finding relief in Iyad's silence for now. I would take care of him later on.
First I needed to make sure that Mastoorah was fine and that she could infer a bit regarding Faraan. He was her father and the attraction of blood was beyond anything in this world. If she left her hatred for my brother, then automatically she would reconsider Iyad's proposal. After all, I didn't want my brother to again suffer. He had done it enough and he now at least deserved a happy bonding with the dearest relation he got by a miracle.
That evening, when I entered Iyad's room, I found him packing his stuff in a suitcase. When he noticed me, he stopped and regarded me.
"AssalamoAlaikum Baba," he greeted me.
I smiled. "Walaikum Assalam. What's this packing for?"
"I am going back. My training is resuming from a day after tomorrow," he replied, calmly.
"Iyad." I placed a hand over his shoulder. "Are you okay?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Yes, Baba. There is no other choice than to feel that I am okay."
I sighed. "Look, I understand this shouldn't have happened. Mastoorah should have thought about you by separating you from her father. But when I put myself in her shoes, I find her right in her place. Give her some time and let her see everything with a calm mind. She will come back to you. That's for sure as I have seen the likeness for each other in both of your eyes."
Iyad scratched his nose. "Baba, she wasn't in any impulsive state of mind when she announced me her decision. I don't want her to break our engagement but what can I do? She was firm on her stance which none could change. But yes, I will wish her a better and speedy recovery from the emotional trauma she had undergone. And I will always wait for her. If she anytime wants to rethink about, my heart, my life and my sincerity is open for her."
I squeezed his shoulder. "You are right. Don't get depressed. You know Mama, I and your siblings love you and we will always support you."
He nodded with a small smile.
"Did you tell Mama that you are going back?" I suddenly remembered about Ajwa and her emotional attachment to the times Iyad had to leave us.
He shrugged his shoulders. "She gets worried every time so I didn't yet. I will tell her a while later. She is already so tensed and I don't want to add to her worry."
"Come out then after packing. Spend time with everyone and especially with Mama before leaving," I told him as I exited his room.
On my way, I got a call from Dad with information that Faraan had suffered a heart attack on his way home from the mosque. I became all ears at this bad news. Thank God, he was doing fine now but it broke my heart to hear this from Mama that he was constantly taking Mastoorah's name in sleep.
My poor brother. He had ruined everything with his hand. His wife and his kid and now when he got his daughter back, she wasn't willing to see him.
Maybe I need to meet Mastoorah really soon. That was best for everyone.

Mastoorah
The Eid had ended and now the working days had resumed. I, after a lot of thought, determined to shift to my college's hostel. For my own mental peace, I needed to live away from here and these people. I wanted to end this chapter and didn't want to remind myself again and again that I was Faraan's daughter.
Aunt Hania was currently angry at me for making this decision hence she wasn't talking to me. It was hurting me to stress my Aunt but what could I do? Whatever had happened with me over the course of these few months, wasn't normal and my thoughts and judgments weren't in my control.
In the morning, when I came to the breakfast table, I saw everyone sitting there except Aunt Hania. My eyes searched for her but she was nowhere to be seen. From today, my classes continue and I had to talk to the college administration about the necessary details about the hostel as well.
"Mastoorah, your Uncle Faris is coming in a while to meet you. Can you stay for a while?" Aunt Javaria said when I was about to leave the table.
I raised a brow. "I am sorry, Aunt. I have an important class and I can't skip it."
"He really wants to talk to you and especially coming here for you. Don't make him wait," Uncle Zaryab added.
A bitter taste came into my mouth. Faris was that man's brother and his twin. They both shared the same faces and features. He would remind me of the man I hated the most. I didn't know whether I would be able to control myself in front of him or not. Everything about Faraan disgusted me. And maybe Uncle Faris was here to talk in favor of his brother. Or maybe about his son.
Iyad.
I hoped he was fine. In all of this turmoil, I hurt him. I broke my promise and gave the punishment of doing of his Uncle to him. He would be perhaps angry at me. And his fury would be justified.
Would he be advocating in favor of Iyad? Then what would I say in return?
"I don't know what he wants to speak to me. I don't have anything to talk to him," I argued, gently.
Aunt Javaria exhaled. "Maybe he has something important to talk to you. We don't know."
Uncle Faris was someone who was very respectable to me. Something in me didn't want to offend him hence I stayed. And maybe I needed to tell him about my decision to shift to the hostel as well.
Exactly after an hour later, he arrived. I came back into my room after the talk with Aunt Javaria. The door knocked slightly.
"Come in," I murmured.
Uncle Faris came inside, his grey eyes scanning me. My forehead creased as I looked at him. As I feared, he reminded me of Faraan.
"AssalamoAlaikum," I said, quietly.
"Walaikum Assalam. How are you Mastoorah?" He asked.
I nodded. "Uncle, if you are here to advocate in favor of your brother, I am sorry I won't be able to hear about him. I respect you very much but please try to understand me as well."
Uncle Faris plopped his hand in his pocket. "No, I am not here to advocate in favor of anyone. I understand you, beta. I am here for you. To tell you that I will support your every decision. I won't push you for any reconciliation. I will support you in every instant of your life. Can you give me such right?"
I smirked. "You are his brother. How can I give you such right?"
He shook his head. "I am your Uncle Faris before his brother. Did I ever give you any reason to doubt that I will ever do injustice to you?"
"So do you understand me?" I asked, as my eyes were widening. He was perhaps the first person who didn't ask me to rethink and said I was wrong.
Uncle begins. "Of course, Mastoorah. What you did isn't wrong. You are hurt and I won't let anyone force you for any change of mind. Take your time and focus on yourself. Start thinking about things more rationally and with a clear state of mind. Sometimes what eyes see isn't the truth and the truth is buried deeper inside. Allah forgives the one who repents by HIS grace. We are HIS creation. Believe in yourself and don't do anything that can affect you in the long run. But one thing I want to say is that don't leave the one who loves and cares for you unconditionally hurt. It includes your Aunt Hania the most. Eizal and Aliha are your best friends. Rest, it all depends on you. I wish you the best because I consider you my daughter."
Uncle Faris's ability to use the words and make an impact on anyone was so beautiful that it caused my eyes to water. He could have forced me to think about his brother and his son again. He could have gotten angry at me for hurting his son but he didn't. In fact, he made a beautiful example of forgiveness in front of me which left me heartbroken. But at that time, I was so furious about Faraan to think back on his lines. But it indeed left a profound impact on me which caused me to focus on forgiveness again in the future.
Uncle's words about Aunt Hania and my best friends shivered my heart. Aunt was my savior and if it wasn't for her after of course Allah's grace and my Mama's sacrifice, I wouldn't have been breathing. And I was hurting her. I was hurting the woman who was as dear to me as my mother. And then Aliha and Eizal; the girls who reduced my social anxiety by their companionship and laughter. I was even mistreating them as well. Since the truth came out, I never talked to both of them. There were hundreds of missed calls and messages from Eizal on my phone, but I never answered them. I quit my decision to go to the hostel. I wouldn't hurt everyone who loved me.
And maybe it all happened because of Uncle Faris's practical way of dealing with my issue.
