Vanessa's POV

I signed out at half past twelve after a full twenty four hour shift and smiled to Candice, the receptionist before waving goodbye. The hospital had kept me on my toes all day and my feet were aching. It was pouring with rain outside and I could feel the cold rain seeping through the fabric of my scrubs and tried my best not to curse. No, cursing was not an option.

I slid into my car and sat in the dark for a few minutes to gather myself before putting the car into gear and driving down the main road. My eyes burnt from keeping them open for so long and I decided a nice soak in the bath was deserved seeing as I had the weekend off.

The roads were busy which didn't surprise me because it was friday and people were out there getting drunk. I managed to swerve away from an accident like it was nothing and I sat up straight, my back aching from the fact that my wings were wanting to come out.

I swallowed, guilt taking me back to the little boy who's machines were turned off due to his cancer causing him not to wake up. I had to report back to head office in the angel kingdom who said the boy was happy up there and I sent another silent prayer asking for forgiveness.

I opened my eyes to turn onto my street that was quiet and dark. I checked the time and didnt see the large figure step into my lights until it was too late and I'd pressed my foot onto the breaks of my poor Toyota. The car knocked the dark figure off their feet and I screamed.

I got out in the rain and ran to kneel by the side of the figure. I could see by the size and figure that it was a man and I was sure he wasn't from my neighborhood. I couldn't see his face so well and couldn't hear him breathing so I ripped open the jacket he had on and placed my ear over his heart to hear it beating hard.

I looked up and placed my hands on my knees and breathed a sigh of relief, the rain already soaked right through the scrubs and my bones were freezing. I turned to looked at the man's face and found his grey eyes staring back at me. He was frowning and I went into nurse mode. "Hello sir, I'm Vanessa. You were knocked by a car. Can you hear me?" He nodded and I felt relieved that he was communicating. "Can you move everything?" I watched him move his head and flex everything which was a good sign.

I looked up and saw my house through the heavy rain. "Can you stand so I can take you inside?" He got to his feet smoothly, as if he wasn't just hit by a car. I looked at my car, I couldn't leave it in the middle of the road. I turned around and a pair of lips landed on mine, igniting my body. I pushed away and closed my eyes, it's okay, he's probably just experiencing some side effects from the hit.

"Can you walk to that house for me?" He started walking away and I let out a breath before getting into the car and pulling it into the driveway. Who was this man and what was he doing out so late? The least I could do was help him get dried up and warm before letting him be on his way. I had a thing for people so I knew if someone was not safe to be around but I got nothing from this man so I assumed he was okay. I got up to the house and got my keys out to unlock the door. "I'm so sorry about that." I said and opened the door, the lights were already on from when I left the day before.

"Please come in, I'll get you a towel and some fresh clothes." I frowned when he didn't move and watched the water drip onto my patio, the water was a deep shade of red and I felt the blood drain from my face. I got to his figure as he started swaying and got him into the house. "You have to stay awake, sir can you hear me?" All his weight dropped onto me and I placed my fingers at his pulse spot where I felt his pulse slowing down.

"Oh no you don't." I took my angel strength and walked him to my guest bedroom and lay him down before running to the bathroom where I kept my first aid kit. I got his side and got his jacket off, trying not to notice the black inc of tattoos running up his arm and disappearing under the shirt. I ripped open his shirt and jumped away. The black tattoos were everywhere but that wasn't what scared me. It was the underworld markings on his chest, the fire and skulls. I was treating a dark angel, this was bad. I swallowed and focused on the dark bruising of where his ribs where probably broken.

I couldn't perform surgery here so I checked that the dark curtains of the room were closed and used my angel magic to heal the ribs that clicked into place before healing. The bruising would still be there and so would the stitches that would hold together his skin that was cut from the bumper of the car. When all the dirty work was done, I got as much of his clothes off as I could and put them in the laundry machine.

The man was strikingly good looking. His lashes were long and his mouth was not too full but enough to say he would be an amazing kisser. I stopped my thoughts right there and got to shift him enough to clean the sheets and pull the covers over him. My heart was banging in my ears because I had a dark angel in my house and I was not supposed to socialize with any Angel's from the underworld. I'd only just gotten to the human world from "up there" a year ago so tmeverything was still new to me.

I cleaned the blood from the patio and settled for a quick shower before getting a tea to settle my nerves. I padded from the kitchen to my room where I tossed and turned until the sun teased through my peach curtains. I groaned and sat to straight to rub my aching temples. A deep sound echoed through the house and I froze. I waited again and after a few minutes I recognized the sound a groan. My guest was awake.

With my heart banging against my chest and my legs moving forward to the door of my room and across the hall to the guest room, I sucked in a breath and the man. He sat up with his back to me, his back was free of tattoos but his muscles flexed. I could see the dark lines where his wings would appear and I walked softly on the carpet towards him. He sat in his boxers and I watched him run a hand over his face.

He looked up and his eyes stared straight into soul, their grey storms forcing me to freeze. I swallowed as he frowned and stood up, towering over my frame. Dark angels were very dangerous and I shivered at the thought of what power he might hold. He kept walking to me and I back away until my back hit the cool wall. I felt myself shiver in fear but tried to stand my ground. I watched him raise his hand and wrap it around my throat, squeezing slightly a d I realised he was just trying to intimidate me. "Where am I?" His voice was deep and had my insides melting. His hand squeezed tighter around my throat and I was about to burst into tears when he finally let go.

"You're in my house. I knocked you with my car and healed you." He frowned and his eyes found my tattoo with wings showing that I was a good angel. "You're not supposed to socialize with people like me."
"You were hurt I tried to help." I said and tried to keep eye contact with him but his body intimidated me and so did his tattoos. He turned away and I watched him walk away.

"I'm supposed to find someone here but I dont remember anything after I stepped through the portal of the underworld. Did I say anything last night?" He said and placed his hands palms up before his wings appeared and stretched out throughout the room. "Uh no you just kissed me." I said and wished I hadn't because it felt stupid to say it. "I can see why I did, you're hot." I flushed and looked down to realise I was still in my silk dress that was hugging my curves.

I cleared my throat."You're probably suffering from temporary memory loss so you're memory should come back in a few days. There's a shower down the hall and food so help yourself. I'll be in my library if you need anything." I said and left, glad to have escaped his eyes that seemed to keep me frozen. I sucked in a breath and went to my room to change. I paced the room for a bit, my body buzzing from the man across the hallway.

I put on my yoga pants and a loose shirt and sat down with some tea in the study that I turned into a library, trying not to listen to the running water from the shower. The image of the man showering with soap and water running down that massive body of his had an unfamiliar ache start in my core. I wasn't allowed to feel desire and lust but I couldn't stop the arousing feeling spread through me for the first time in my life. I sucked in a breath and continued reading. After a few minutes I looked up to find the man standing in the doorway with actual clothes on this time.

"You're sexy when you're thinking." He said and I frowned. "You just met me, is it even appropriate to say those kinds of things to me?" I got up and picked up the tray with the empty tea pot and cup to take them to the kitchen. He moved out of my way to let me pass. "I'm a straightforward guy. I'll tell you what I think about you just like I'm telling you that I'd love to fuck you." The tray slipped from my grip and I lost focus. I turned to give him a piece of my mind but came face to face with his chest.

"Listen here mister."
"Grey."
"Grey, whatever, you cant just say things like that. I'm an angel and you're from the underworld. I don't do one night stands and you probably do."
"The way you're acting and the fact that you're flushed tells me you're a virgin." I felt my ears grow hotter. "That's none of your business." I turned to bend over and pick up the things that had dropped.

"You can't go bending over in front of me like that." He groaned and I straighted before putting the things on the kitchen counter. "That's it. Get out, I let you in here to recover and here you are hitting on me like I'm some kind of whore. There are plenty strip clubs around for you if that's what you want but you are certainly not getting it from me. Now get out before I make you." He smiled humorously. "Make me? Angel, I'll be making you come if you let me." I snapped and slapped him across that handsome face. That felt so good. I looked at him, his eyes shifted darker. "You shouldn't have done that." He said in a low voice.
