"Amelia! Hold on!"
I kept on walking and pretended as if I couldn't hear him. He was already at a distance of a hundred feet from me thus I could easily get away.

After I was sure I lost him I sighed and sat on a nearby bench.
What just happened? I'm pretty sure I just saw Damon and Courtney share a moment but even if they did, why was it affecting me so much? What was that weird feeling I got when I saw the two of them together? Was it....?
NO. Absolutely not. It was absolutely nothing. I must've just eaten something I shouldn't have. Yeah, that must have been what happened.

"Amelia?" I felt a hand on my shoulder and almost screamed.

"Vivian! God, your scared me."

"You were in some deep thought weren't you?" he chuckled and sat beside me.

"It was nothing important really. Anyway, what are you doing here?"

"Just came to check up on you and ask you if you are alright after what you just saw."

I turned my head so fast, I thought I got a whiplash.
"What?" I asked him.
"You like him, don't you? You like Damon."

"W-what are you talking about? I cannot stand that guy. Like him? Not a chance!" I said and tried to act casual.

Vivian just raised his eyebrow.

"Okay, I might just like him a teensy bit. So what? It doesn't mean anything."

Vivian laughed.
"You really are something, Amelia. I haven't seen a more stubborn person than you."

"Well you clearly haven't met Damon," I said.
I then looked at him and said softly, "I'm really sorry Vivian. I know how you feel about me. But I don't think it's correct of me to lead you on which was why I thought I shouldn't lie to you."

"It's okay. You cannot always expect the person you like to like you back, right?"

"Yeah I think I know a thing or two about that," I said.

"Hey," he said and kept a hand on my shoulder.
"It was just a hug okay. I don't think you should make a big deal out of it."

"Did you see the look on their faces? I think my reaction was justified."

"They have met after a year, Amelia, AND they were in love. You need to understand where they come from."

"How do you know about all this?"

"Are you serious?! It was all over the news when it happened. She apparently leaked some confidential documents belonging to King Rupert to someone she shouldn't have. It was everywhere!"

Was I living under a rock? When did all this happen?!

"Anyway, like I was saying. It was just a hug. Don't stress over it."

"Why are you helping me? Shouldn't you be all upset? Because from what I remember, you took this as a challenge and you clearly didn't like him."

He smiled and said, "Oh, trust me I still don't. It's just that earlier I wanted to put in all my effort because at that time I thought you would never like someone like him. To be very honest, I thought maybe you would grow to like me if I tried. But when I saw how he can truly calm you and how his actions affect you, I realized that I don't have any place here anymore. Not in between you two. Just like Damon said that day, nothing should ever come in between two people who are destined to be together, not some stupid rules of course," he said referring to the selection day.

"I'm sorry again. I didn't mean for any of this to happen," I whispered.

"Hey, I said its okay right? Besides, we still are friends. That douche can't take that away from me, " he said, smirking.

I looked at him for a second and we both started laughing. He then stretched out his arms and hugged me.

"See, friends hug each other too," he said not letting go.

"Yeah, they do," I said and chuckled.

"Do me a favor, Amelia, and find true love. While it's breaking me to see that it isn't me, I still wish the best for you. Don't forget to live, to love, in all of this chaos okay? You deserve it."

I nodded, kept my head across his chest and said, "I will, and I wish you find someone who will truly love you. Not some idiot like me who needs other people to tell her how she feels."

We broke off the hug and he said, "Well then it looks like this is goodbye.  At least for now. You do your ass kicking and get your guy. I think I need some time alone to sort the mess going on in my head."

I nodded in understanding and said, "You will come back, right? I have a feeling I will need you to face what's going to come."

"I will. I'll always come back for you. And remember, Amelia, always fight for what is yours.  Whether it's your life or your love. Don't give up. Ever."

He quickly packed his bag and got ready to leave.
"I won't say goodbye because I know this isn't," he said.

I simply smiled and watched him leave.
As he walked off in the distance I thought, 'It was better this way. He was good, too good, to be caught up into all of this.'
So while I saw him go and wished for all the happiness for him, I said the one thing I never knew I would, even though he couldn't hear me.
"Goodbye."

I know this was a very small chapter but I thought Vivian deserved an entire one for himself because honestly, he really was a sweet heart. Anyway, I have planned a lot of stuff for the next chapters and a lot of crazy stuff is about to happen ahead. Hope you guys can keep up!
