13- Evident Rivalry.

"DAMON'S POV*

"....and with only one more girl to go we are nearing the end of this interview round."

That statement got me out of my reverie. It had been more than 2 hours that I was sitting here, on this couch with the one and only David Flickerman.

David was a renowned tv host and was loved by all. Him and Father are actually pretty close so it was decided that for the interview round, we couldn't find a better host and interviewer than David.

For the past 2 hours I was forced to put a smile on my face. I understand that we have a live audience and that the live telecast is being aired too, but come on, give the guy a brake!
Also, I have noticed that all the nine girls that have come onto the stage until now have been super giggly for some reason. While I actually interacted with some girls and had a good time with them, the others were just plain clingy.

All this time I have been waiting for Amelia to get called onto the stage. That girl is just different. While most of the girls were trying to describe my relationship with them as the best and how they practically worship me (I don't blame them because everyone knows that I'm good looking, duh) but what they don't understand is that on such a platform, you need to be real. Which is the only reason I'm scared of Amelia coming onto the stage actually,  I know she won't hesitate making me look like a fool, but that's also what I like the most about her. SHE is real.

Besides, I wanted to see what did her stylist give her to wear. If I remember anything from our first meet it's that she absolutely hates wearing heals and anything too....girly? So I also want to see what she has put on.

"Well ladies and gentlemen," said David. "Let's call upon our last and final contestant," I chuckled at that. They make my marriage sound like a competition. Just perfect.
"Amelia Grayson!"

There from the wings in the backstage, I saw her. She looked absolutely divine in that black gown she was wearing and it fit her at the right places just perfectly. I hadn't realized I had gotten up from my seat until she came and stood right in front of me. The two of us stood there on the stage looking into each other's eyes and wouldn't have stopped if we wouldn't have heard the sound of someone clearing their throat. David.

"Well as much as all of us present here find it absolutely adorable of the two of you looking at each other this way, we unfortunately have a show to continue."
The audience all laughed and Amelia looked embarrassed. I smirked at how cute she looked and helped her sit on the couch beside me.
"Also, ladies and gentleman, please give another round of applause for Amelia's chosen partner, Vivian Jacobs!"

I simply rolled my eyes that. I had to remember, if I had to get into the good books of Amelia, I had to at least be civil with this guy because I know Amelia considers him as a friend.
Vivian came onto the stage with that ever annoying smile of his and sat on Amelia's other side.

David sat down himself and spoke, "We will get on with the interview soon everyone, but I have to ask Amelia this- Are those a pair of boots you are wearing under your gown?"

I raised my eyes at that. I was so transfixed just by looking at her face and her dress, I didn't bother seeing her footwear so I bent a little forward  to see it for myself and I could see a small part of the shoe jutting out from under her dress.

Amelia laughed nervously at that and replied, "Um yeah they are. I actually am a huge klutz. I can barely walk without tripping when I'm not wearing any footwear so wearing heels would be quite a traumatic experience for me."

At that, the entire audience, including David and Vivian laughed. I, on the other hand, just had a smile on my face looking at the antiques of the girl I had started to fall in love with.

*AMELIA'S POV*

Since the time I had entered, I was only searching for my parents in the audience. Once or twice while looking  over to the audience I accidentally locked eyes with King Rupert, and both the times I could very confidently say that the look he was giving me just proved that he didn't like me much.

"And your stylist is okay with you wearing them?" David asked me, referring to my boots.

"Well, I'll be honest David, my first meet with Joe, Joseph I mean, wasn't an ideal one. With me rejecting all the initial gowns he showed me, I wouldn't blame him that he was starting to get pissed off. Those gowns were beautiful no doubt, but they just weren't something that defines me as a person. I'm a girl that wears sweat pants all day for God's sake so getting me into a dress at all is an accomplishment. You can ask my mom. My point was that until I can properly walk in those sticks, " I said referring to the heels, "I'd rather wearing something I can handle. So if anything, I'd like to apologize to Joe actually for being such a brat a while ago."

"Well I don't think you need to apologize for anything because you look absolutely stunning. Joseph Martin, your stylist, has done a great job."

I smiled at that.

"Now, Damon," he said. "I would like to ask you. Why Amelia? I know I have been asking you the same question for the other girls too but for some reason I have a feeling that this answer will be different."

Looks like he is very close to him, calling him by his first name, I thought.
'You do it too,' said a voice in my head.
'That's different', I said to the voice.
'Sure', it replied.

Damon smiled at that, sincerely, and replied, "Well that's your answer David. My answer to this question will be different because Amelia is different too. She has a fire in her that I haven't seen in anyone else around here." He then looked at me and continued, "She has hit me quite a lot of times actually."

At that the entire audience gasped. Vivian and David widened their eyes and I was just plain upset. With that smirk playing on his face I realised that he was doing this just to rile me up because he would enjoy it and the worst part of it, his plan was working.

"Is that true Amelia?"

"Of course not!" I exclaimed.
When Damon raised his eyebrows at me playfully I gave in and said, "It was more like a pat on his head, and only once."

"Twice," Damon corrected and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Well while this is quite amusing I have another question for you Amelia. We all saw that picture of you and Damon with swords in your hands and I must say, your close proximity in that picture did raise a lot of eyebrows."

"That was just Damon Holden being Damon Holden. That picture was taken just when the match started. He came to challenge me. He didn't think that I could defeat him in sword fighting and I prove him wrong."

"That result is still undecided!" said Damon from beside me.

"You and I both know a few more minutes and I would have defeated you."
Damon scoffed at that.

There was a mixed reaction from the audience at that. Some were amused at our interaction while some found it shocking that I was talking to the Prince in such a manner.

David smirked and turned to Vivian, "And how do you feel about this friendship, if you can call it, that these two have? Do you feel it threatens your relationship with Amelia? You are a good looking man too, Vivian and I'm sure many girls fawn over you. How does it feel to run behind a girl yourself for once?"

"Well thank you David, that means a lot, but to contradict your statement, I actually have only ever been in one serious relationship before. Besides, before coming here I had made it very clear to Amelia how I feel about this. I do have a liking for her and I obviously don't like seeing someone else pursue her too."

Damon tensed at that and I looked over to him. He did not look happy.

"So the way I'm seeing it as is someone trying to win over the girl I like. While I respect Prince Damon and think that he is a great leader, when it comes to this topic, I don't think I can see him in any other way."

Damon looked into space with a very sarcastic smile. He was finding this situation both funny and upsetting, I could tell. So while these two boys have this sort of hatred growing towards each other, the only thing I can hope for is that I don't lose two important people to me in the process.
