Belonging to a pack, you have to abide all the rules. You must submit to the one with the most power and do all their bidding. That is, if you want to stay alive amidst the battles between packs for expansion of their respective territory.

All this are true more especially when you're an Alpha's daughter.

I am Isis Lily. I am the daughter of the Alpha of the Moon Lily Pack. Our pack is small and weak so surviving amidst the battle proved to be very difficult especially when our pack doesn't have fighters on par with the larger ones.

How are we still alive? Well, it's quite simple really. We are under the protection of the Blood Fangs Pack, which is currently the strongest pack.

How it came to be? Let's just say... I made a sacrifice.

My father, Alpha Sen, was acquainted to the Alpha of the Blood Fangs Pack, Alpha Loki. They went way back teenage years and was good friends since then. Alpha Loki heard of our dilemma so he offered to help. He came to our land and, being the daughter of the Alpha, I had to welcome them alongside my Mother, Luna Iris.

He found me, well, beautiful and he asked my hand in exchange for the protection he would give to my pack for eternity. My Father didn't agree to it but my Mother did. I understood where Mother was coming from so I obeyed and became Alpha Loki's fiancee.

Today, again, he came to visit and asked that he see me. Father wanted to send me away so I won't have to marry Alpha Loki but I told him that I shouldn't, else the pack will suffer. He looked very sad and apologetic before he engulfed me in a hug and apologized over and over again.

"Darling, what are you thinking?" I heard a deep voice penetrate my eardrums and I snapped out of it.

"Ah! Umm.. Nothing Alpha Loki. I am deeply sorry to have drifted off and momentarily ignored you. I do not mean to offend you." I apologized and bowed deeply.

"Please raise your head. You will be my wife soon so you need not use such formal language." He said and smiled gently.

Twitch.

I kept my head low, avoiding eye contact with him. I understood that this sacrifice was necessary but sometimes I wished it was all just a crazy nightmare and soon Father will come and wake me up.

"I understand, sir." I answered when I realized I have not answered him yet.

"Is something bothering you dear?" He asked as his face morphed into one full of worry.

Twitch.

"The fact that I will be married to you? Yes. It bothers me a lot." Like I could say that.

"Nothing, sir. I really am just out of it today. It might be the fatigue since I did play with the kids awhile before you arrived." I answered and refused to look at him in the eye.

"I see. Darling, can you please drop the honorifics? I want you to be comfortable with me since we'll be spending our life together." He said as he reached for my hands and held it under his large ones.

Twitch.

"I believe I can't, Alpha Loki. Please do understand that as long as we are not wed to each other I am obliged to be formal around you, Alpha Loki."

"There's nothing I can do to somehow bend that, isn't there?" Alpha Loki had this soft and gentle face as he said those, probably surrendering from my stubborness.

The truth, though, is that addressing him as such serves as my reminder that my fate is not yet sealed. I still have a chance. I just needed the courage.

"Such is my upbringing, sir."

"Lovely." He responded before he brought my hands up and planted a kiss on them. "I will see you next time, then. I'm afraid I can't lounge for long here since I've got territory issues to attend. I've got to protect both my pack and my beloved's pack, after all."

Twitch.

"Do you wish me to send you off, sir?" I asked.

"You need not to. Just stay here and tend to yourself. Till next time then, dear." He said before he turned and shifted to his dark, muddy, brown wolf.

"Take care then, Alpha Loki." I bid with a slight curtsey and remained still until he sprinted away.

I huffed a relieved sigh as I could feel the anxiety and stiffness slowly leave my body. I walked down from the gazebo and decided to wander around.

Little children passed by me as they ran and laughed. I smiled as I watched them and gripped my dress' long skirt as I reminded myself that I was doing it for the benefit of my own pack- that my sacrifice was for these people who can't defend themselves.

"Ais!!" I heard someone call me.

"Rina?"

"How have you-- Ew!! What's with that dress?" She exclaimed and halted on her tracks as she stared at my dress disgustingly.

"Oh this.. I-I met with Alpha Loki just a while ago and Mom said to wear this." I explained and shrugged my shoulders.

"Then let's head to your house and change you out of that disgustingly sweet dress. It doesn't suit you." She said and fake gagged.

I laughed at her because I knew that it was really the fact that I had met up with Alpha Loki that really disgusted her.

Rina is my childhood friend and bestfriend. We'd been together since babes and we practically grew together. Well her father was my father's bestfriend and beta as well so it kinda got rubbed on us.

"Auntie Iris! I'm gonna borrow Ais!" She exclaimed as soon as we entered our abode.

Mom popped out from the kitchen with her apron on and eyed me. She smiled before she nodded her head and went back inside the kitchen but not before saying "Fine, but be back before dinner, okay?"

"Yes, ma'am." We chorused and she pushed me up the stairs and towards my room before she plopped on my bed and I proceeded to my wardrobe to change out of the stuffy dress.

"Ugh! Those kids wore me out." She huffed and rolled on my bed.

"Are you going to lie there all day or are we going for a run?" I asked and placed an impatient hand on my waist.

She perked up at my question and was already hopping in a split second.

"Now that's a nice idea!"

We hurried downstairs and was about to open the door when it opened from outside. Father stood in front of the door with his hands on the knob as he looked surprised.

"Oh! Hey Dad." I beamed and kissed his cheeks.

"Hey sweetie. Where are you off to?" He asked.

"Well, Rina's taking me out for a run."

"A run? Why? And why are you here anyway? I thought Alpha Loki's taking you to his pack?"

"What? A-Alpha Loki's ta-taking me? Wh-Why?" I sputtered. I have not heard anything about it. It was the first.

"Well didn't he reschedule your wedding to next week?"

What? Next week? That's way too soon!

"Ne-next week? I.. I did not hear anything about it. Who told you Dad?" I asked, already feeling the fear gnaw at what little freedom I have left.

"Alpha Loki himself. Did he not tell you dear?" Father asked me and I froze.

So that was what he meant with territorial issues? He planned to hurry our wedding?

"Isis?" Father called my name.

"Ais?" Rina tried to snap me out.

It was over. There was nothing I could do anymore. My fate has been sealed. I would no longer be Isis Lily but Isis Fang.
