Chapter thirty-nine

Lavi's POV

**

Katherine has been avoiding me since yesterday and I can't understand why. Is either she is too busy reading or not paying attention to me at all. After our first practical exam today. I thought maybe she will say something to me but she ignored me yet again.

I noticed her change in attitude after she got her test result from the clinic. She has stomach virus according to what she told me but I doubt if that is the issue this time. It kills me to think that she is about to break up with me again.

What am I even saying?

I haven't given her any reason to be mad at me and even if I had; I expect her to tell me about it and not avoid me like a plaque. I'd die without her. My whole world revolves around her and a day without having her smile at me or smack me across the shoulder when I tease her is like living in a world with no air.

I tried talking to her about it earlier but she didn't pay much attention and I can feel it deep down in my heart that something is definitely not right and this uncertainty is giving me endless nightmare and I can't take it anymore. And after today's exam,I cornered her in the lab yet again.

"Just tell me if I did something wrong and I will try to fix my mistake please" I tried to reach for her hand but she pulled away before I could.

"You didn't do anything wrong okay? I just need space from all of these" gesturing with her hands in front of us..." I feel suffocated with all the attention you're giving me!" Her eyes settling on everything except me of course.

Gosh...

Why is she doing this?

What have I done wrong!

"Do you want us to break up?"

"What?no! Of course not. I'm just saying I need time to figure out something okay?" Her eyes found mine in a split second and darted away again.

She can hardly keep eyes contact with me. What is she hiding?

"Is there something you want to tell me?"

"Something like what?" Her eyes searching mine and I can't even read what lies beneath those eyes of hers.

"I don't know okay? I just feel like something is not right between us and I can't even figure out what it's!" My voice coming out labored.

"Yeah you're right. Something is certainly wrong with the both of us no doubt. Exams has began and we should be reading ahead but here we are being paranoid over something that is non existence"

Maybe she is right! And am being paranoid for no reason and everything is just fine between us. Nothing is wrong! We are just fine.

I reached for her hands again but she didn't flinch away but her hands were terribly cold against mine despite the hot blazing sun burning outside.

"Your hands are cold k. Are you okay?" She pulled her hands always quickly and rubbed them together slightly.

"I washed my hands not quite long. I guess They are still under the effect of the cold water" she explained calmly.

"Okay! Have you had something to eat? Because am starving" rubbing at my stomach

"Me too" she smiled.

"C'mon then,let get you something to eat shall we?"

She gave a quick nod and reach for her bag pack before we walked out of the laboratory.

I watched in total fascination as she munched away at her lunch. She must be really famish giving the way she is digging at her food.

"Do you still want some?" Offering her mine once she was done with hers.

"No am okay" dapping her lips with her wipe.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah am good"

"Okay"

I don't know why but I can tell that something is different about her but I just can't place my hands on it. She looks more beautiful. Full around the cheek but somehow pale on the skin. Maybe the march weather was taking a hard toil on her skin.

But she was still the most beautiful I have seen and will forever have my heart.

I reached out a hand and tucked a hair away from her face. She blushed at my public display of affection but said nothing.

"We should start going don't you think?" She said quietly

"Yeah we should princess so c'mon" helping her out of her chair.

"Thanks"

I shrugged instead and we walked out with me leading the way with a smiling Katherine from behind.

Oh that's the Katherine I was missing all day!
