Chapter forty-four

Lavi's POV

**

"Ayo my son! How can you do this to yourself. Where did we go wrong in bringing you up" she cried hysterically as she continued to banter at me.

I knew hell was going to descend on me the moment I tell them the truth but her words doesn't matter any more. She was doing the exact thing I knew she would. My dad was still quiet by the corner and hasn't utter a word.

His silence is becoming more terrifying than my mom endless words.

"I'm sorry mom. I didn't mean for any of these to happen" I apologized again for the hundred time.

"I warned you did I not? I warned you that she is no good and will be the ruin of you but you didn't listen. You fell right into her seductive power.  Now look at where your deaf ears has gotten you"

I knew she was going to say I told you so but it doesn't matter even.

"It wasn't her fault that she got pregnant mother! I caused this okay? I got her pregnant. I ruined her life and not the other way round"

She scoffed at me as she adjusted her wrapper around her waist. I honestly don't know why she ties them if she is still going to retie it in another minute or two.

"Look at you! Take a very good look at yourself.. I caused this! I ruined her life" mimicking my word..."yes you caused it so go ahead and clap for yourself because you are also going to be a father but guess what? your father and I won't lift even a finger to help you because we only sent you to school but you went and brought this upon yourself so you must bear the consequences alone " her voice as cold as ice as she yelled at me.

"Ehm mama Ayo; that's enough now! Your neighbors can hear you from here" said my dad at last

Finally!

"Don't shout at me o, it is your son here who should be screamed at for being a disgrace to this family not me" she countered back

"I said that's enough!" He yelled again and she went quiet.

"Is there any prove that our son got her pregnant?" Turning to my mom and grabbing my attention as well.

What did he say?

"I got her pregnant dad and there is what they call a paternity test that proves what you're insinuating so yes I got her pregnant!"

"That hasn't been proven yet so am telling you now that you didn't get her pregnant so get that stupid thought out of your head before my shoe meet your sorry face this minute" he growled.

I shifted from one foot to the next and said nothing in reply. It's obvious he has a twisted plan up his sleeve already.

Well he doesn't know that I have mine too.

"Now listen to me young man" he continued.... " you didn't get that girl pregnant! Someone else did so you are going to write your exams like you should and come out with flying colors and take that scholarship like you should. Do you hear me?"

Oh I should have known that scholarship will take the place of a human child.

"No father! You can't Make me deny that girl or my unborn child cos I won't do it!"

I turned toward the door on my way out but stopped at his words.

"Oh yes you will do it or you can kiss this family goodbye!"

What now?

Is he disowning me?

As if he could read my mind, he continued

"Yes you heard me son! You can either choose to ruin your life with that girl by stepping out of that door or you can get back here and do away with this mistake" his voice held no distress as he said those words.

"But father..."

"No but son! We all make mistakes. Consider this your very first mistake and learn from it"

I nodded.

There is no point arguing with my father at this point because he doesn't get it. No one does.

I have to do this on my own! But I need time.

" very good. Now go to your room and study for your exams. This case is close!" Waving me off.

"Okay father"

My blood is boiling through every fiber of my being. I listen to my parent yet I can't recognized even one of them. I thought my dad was better but he is worst than my mom over. I made a mistake; yes! But who haven't? What makes them think even for a second that I will give her up. They can't make me deny the only person I have ever loved; body and soul!

Katherine is my life and there is no way I'd give her up!

Never!

No one will make me give her up and to hell with that scholarship for all I care. I got it because of her in the first place and I will gladly give it up for her sake!.

She promised to tell her father and I know she will even though it won't be easy for her. There is a high probability that he might get her to abort the child even but I hope it won't come to that yet.

I have no penny to support her but am willing to work for it with my two hands if I have to. I just need to find a way to get help but I won't let her suffer alone. She needs me now more than ever!.

I dialed her number but got no answer. I wonder if she is okay or not. Her dad might be breathing down fire on her even and I can't do anything to help her.

Hold on princess!

We will be alright!

I promise I will fight for us!
