14|Problem

It seemed all out of control for Faith. There she stood in the middle of the room with two males who were in running for her heart. One's eyes sought the truth - for her to tell her true lover what was going on, and the other sought answers - for her to explain what he had walked in on.
But while Faith stood conflicted, trying to decipher which truth she would tell, she realized things were more out of control than she had thought.

"I'll leave," Jason said upon realizing that his presence was no longer needed, considering the fact that Faith had basically told them there could be no romantic relationship between them. While a rift formed in his heart at the bitter turn down, he was more fearful that the friendship they shared would also slowly begin to crumble.

He didn't hear her voice in the background telling him to stay and he didn't seek truth in her eyes. Instead, he squared his shoulders and forced a quick smile as he passed Daniel who's gaze was as threatening as a broken hearted drunk with a shotgun.

He closed the door behind him thinking, it would possibly be his last time at love.

_____________

Faith swallowed the rather painful lump that had slowly formed in her throat as she gazed at Daniel who's face was the epitome of confusion.

"So what's going on Faith? Explain to me what I just walked in on," his voice was calm but it was also serious.

She slowly hung her head to stare at the plain tiled floors. "Jason was just er- trying to comfort me," was the excuse she formed.

"Why?" came his quick argument.

"Let's just drop it please, I'm sorry you had to see that."

Daniel scoffed. "Tell me, what is the relationship between you two?" he questioned with eagerness in his voice.

"We-" she cleared her throat. "We're just friends."

He rose an unconvinced brow. "I doubt that," he answered cynically.

"Where exactly are you getting at with this Daniel?" She asked despite knowing he had his reasons to be upset, to at least seek answers to what he had seen.

He pinched his nose and was momentarily silent. "Do you have feelings for him?"

She was instantly befuddled, unable to formulate a befitting reply given the circumstances. Her lips moved but somehow speech was restricted.

Daniel scoffed once more and shook his head almost pitifully. "How long?"

Faith's head lifted. "It isn't what you think it is," she defended softly, somehow finding her heart hammering even though she was unmoving.

"Then tell me what it is," he injected firmly, voice as grim as the look on his face.

"I don't even know, myself," she found herself whispering but it wasn't quiet enough because he heard.

"Do you even realize we could be having a child soon?!" he yelled angrily.

"And I don't want to ruin that," she exclaimed shakily.

He huffed out a breath. "I think it might be too late for that, but while you try to figure out your true feeling for your best friend, I'll give you the time you need to do so," he said and with another swift glance her way, he went through the door, sealing it with a hard slam.

Faith lips trembled as tears threatened to fall but she sucked it in and told herself it was not the time to cry even though her heart was giving her a thousand reasons why she should be doing the opposite.

With shaky hands, Faith picked up her phone and dialled kaylyn's number.

'Hey honey, what's up?" Kaylyn answered cheerfully, unbeknownst to her of what was to come.

"We need to talk...now."

__________

Kaylyn arrived at Faith's apartment within minutes to find her with a bottle of whiskey in hand, while her eyes spoke the language the liquor told.

"About damn time," she exclaimed disjointedly.

Looking confused, Kaylyn squeezed through the small space and entered. "What's wrong with you?" she questioned, attempting to grab the bottle from her. Faith dodged her grasp.

"Everything's ruined," she sneered.

Kaylyn's brows knitted. "Wh- what are you talking about?"

"Why couldn't you keep your damned suspicions to yourself!" she argued bitterly, taking another swig of the burning beverage.

"Care to fill me in on what's going on here?' Kaylyn exclaimed in confused outrage.

"You told Jason about why you don't like Daniel, he confronted me and things took a turn..." she explained hysterically.

"What turn?"

Faith shook her head and raked a hand through her hair. "We kissed," she muttered calmly.

Kaylyn's eyes popped. "Yo- you what?"

"Isn't that what you wanted all along?" she scoffed.

"Faith-"

"You didn't like Daniel so you were willing to do anything to see us fail; even if it meant forcing Jason on me."

"Forc- I didn't do such a thing!" Kaylyn snapped. "You might not want to admit your feelings for whatever ludicrous reasons you might have, but you needed to be steered straight so quit bitching and decide on what you want!"

"I want a baby and you basically ruined that!"

Kaylyn swallowed. "I didn-"

"I thought you were my friend, Kaylyn. Leave!"

"Faith, I am. Are you kidding me right now?" she exclaimed.

"I'm not. I'm kicking you out of my house," she grounded out bitterly.

Kaylyn rooted her stance. "And I'm not going anywhere."

The comeback surprised Faith, but she quickly recovered from her momentary fright. "Fine, then I'll leave."

Kaylyn grabbed her hand. "Faith, please. Just listen to me," she begged.

Faith held her gaze but was silent, giving Kaylyn the chance to say what she wanted.

"I'm sorry things took an unfavorable turn, but if you're lying to yourself about your feelings, it will come back to haunt you. I'm not stupid, I know you care for Jason and he loves you...."

"He was just supposed to be my friend, nothing more, nothing less..."

"But now you feel something more and Faith, there's nothing wrong in allowing yourself to feel what you do." Kaylyn tried to console as she seated them both on the sofa.

Faith scoffed. "A few weeks ago, I was the happiest girl alive when I told you about the surrogacy. I was completely in love with Daniel and now, I don't even know what I feel - what to feel. How can my feelings just change in a matter of days, Kay?"

Though Kaylyn didn't have an absolute answer, she knew as much to come to a conclusion.

"Maybe you were trying to convince yourself more than anything else," she said, reaching for Faith's hand to give it a comforting squeeze.

Faith sniffed. "What about the surrogacy - Lilly?"

Kaylyn smiled warmly. "You'll see that everything will work itself out. God works in mysterious ways," she reached for her and pulled her in for a hug.

"So what should I tell Jason and Daniel?" she muttered over kaylyn's shoulder.

"Exactly what your heart desires," she said. Faith smiled shakily.

____

Daniel muttered a string of curses as he waited on the door to open. His head was swirling, things were quickly getting out of control and he wasn't quite sure if he could fix it this time around but he would be damned if he didn't at least try.

The door swung open and he was met up with his blue eyed devil. "What's going on?"

"We have a problem. A very big one."
