02|Excited for...
Faith heaved a disjointed sigh, leaning against her car seat and staring ahead as she contemplated on her earlier reaction. Maybe she was being dramatic and not clearly seeing why Kaylyn had said the things she had, but how could she not think Daniel was the right guy? Well, she hadn't said those words exactly, but to Faith it meant the same thing.
Danny was the best guy she'd ever dated, he ticked all the boxes and Faith didn't doubt their love for a second, so how could Kaylyn? She sighed in utter frustration before starting the car to head home. Her mind was made up and she was going to get that baby through surrogacy, no matter what anyone thought.
With a huff, Faith drove home, intent on seeing the one person that could take her mind off things.
______
When she got home, Daniel wasn't at home, and so Faith, being plagued with boredom, wandered aimlessly around the house, trying to find something that would get her mind off things. She picked up a magazine to read, but all she could see was blank words. Her mind failed to make sense of them; Faith flung the book to one side of the room before groaning in frustration.
A knock came at her door and she quickly bounded from the sofa, immediately moving towards the door. She opened it to find a smiling Jason.
"Oh, it's you," she said lamely, pushing the door open a bit wider and waltzing back towards the sofa.
"Well, it's nice to see you too Faith," Jason chuckled, using his foot to kick the door shut, seeing that his hands were occupied with takeouts.
"What brings you here?" Faith asked, plopping down on the sofa and reaching for the remote.
"I was at Jojo's party and Kaylyn told me you left upset so I decided to come try and cheer you up," he informed, placing the bags filled with Chinese food on the coffee table. "I brought your favorite," he beamed.
"I'm fine and I'm not hungry," she pouted, switching channels aimlessly.
Jason grabbed the remote, turned off the TV and turned to Faith. "You're not, mind telling me what's up?"
Faith rolled her eyes, reaching for the bags as she began to rummage through. "Yes, I do mind," she quipped.
There was a moment of silence as Jason waited for Faith to spill the beans. She was always bad at keeping grudges and Jason had found that out a year into their friendship. It seemed frequent visits to Matthew's and kaylyn's house formed new relationships.
"Kaylyn thinks my surrogacy is a bad idea," she blurted.
A brow shot up. "Did she say that?"
Faith spared him a glance. "No but she could have might as well say it. She asked if Daniel was the right guy for me to do such a big thing with," she sighed.
Jason swallowed. "Well uh– she's your friend Faith and a concerned one a that. Cut her some slack."
Faith scoffed. "So you're taking her side?"she mused, eyes wide with disbelief.
Jason immediately held up his hands in mock surrender. "Woah– I'm taking no one's side here but I'm just saying maybe you should look at things from her view point," he supplied.
Faith twisted her mouth. "Don't you think Danny is a nice guy?"
Jason cleared his throat. "Of course I do," he smiled. "And if this is what you want, as a friend, I will support you a hundred percent."
Faith smiled, leaning towards Jason as they did a shoulder bump. "Thanks Jase."
"No problem, so now that I brought the food, I think it's only fair that you get the beverage," he grinned.
Faith rolled her eyes, all the while smiling as she immediately got up and moved towards the kitchen.
"So are you ready for tomorrow?" Jason called, taking out the contents from the bag in the process of talking.
Faith rounded the corner with two cans of coke in hand. "Yeah, I'm so excited," she grinned.
Jason smiled as he slowly nodded. "Good, I have drawn up all eligible surrogates that will be more than happy to help you guys out. Their medical and criminal records are clean so I don't think you have anything to worry about and of course, they are all at suitable child bearing ages."
His information left Faith contented as a surge of joy rose to her chest. "Thank you for doing this for me Jase. I don't think my grandma's inheritance could've covered all the cost, especially with a lawyer and all, so thank you for being my friend and my lawyer."
Jason leaned towards her and placed a quick kiss on her forehead. "Don't mention it big head."
Faith chuckled at the nick name he had created for her. "OK dick head."
He laughed, gently shoving her shoulder.
_____
Daniel Cooper opened the door to the apartment he had rented for him and his girlfriend. Exhausted with the tiring day he had at work, he was happy to finally come home and see his girl.
"Faith honey, I'm home," he called, closing the door behind him.
He got suspicious when he didn't hear a reply, because he knew it was too late to still be at kaylyn's and she didn't mention going anywhere else. He ventured into the living room where he was about to call again but the words froze on his lips when he saw her snuggled up on the sofa– head against Jason's chest who had fallen asleep also. The television was on, displaying an episode of Game of thrones – Faith's favorite – while take out boxes littered the coffee table.
Daniel gritted his teeth at the sight, jealousy overcoming his body. He knew that Jason was one of Faith's best friend – and that fact didn't disturb him at all, but what did, was how contented she seemed while she slept in another man's arms. Angrily reaching for the remote, he turned it off and loudly cleared his throat. Seeing that it didn't have an effect on them, he did so repeatedly, until Jason shuffled in the sofa, and Faith snuggled closer. Daniel was fuming and so not being able to withstand such a sight any longer, he called her name.
"Faith!" he hissed and immediately Jason flew up, looking blankly around the living room. His eyes landed on Daniel who was no longer scowling, but instead, had a smile on his face.
"Oh!" Jason exclaimed, trying to compose himself, but realizing Faith was still on him. He threw Daniel a grin, gently shaking Faith who muttered something incoherent.
"I think she needs the rest after the day she's had," Jason supplied after seeing how incommunicable Faith was.
"A day of watching TV and eating takeouts, oh how trying," Daniel bit out sarcastically, the smile never leaving his face.
Jason's brows knitted at the man's unexpected reaction but he forced himself to believe any man in his given situation, would behave the same. Faith shuffled once more, before stretching and opening her eyes. Her eyes opened to find herself on Jason and then they went to Daniel's face. She immediately bounded from the sofa, clearing her throat to hide her embarrassment.
"We– we were just uh..." She trailed off to gesture around the room. "Watching GoT and eating," she smiled.
"It's OK honey, I understand how you friends are with each other. Anyway, I'm glad Jason's here, that way I can personal ask how our possible surrogates are coming along."
Jason scratched his head. "Yeah, I was telling Faith earlier that I've managed to get a few who are medically and criminally clear. The choosing is up to you guys; I have arranged the necessary paperwork to have things on it's way soon."
Daniel gave a jubilant laugh, moving towards faith where he whirled her around in his arms before anchoring her with a brief, yet firm, kiss.
"That's amazing!" He chirped, reaching out to pat Jason on the shoulder. "Thank you, man."
Jason smiled tightly, after which looking around to grab his keys. "No prob, I better be on my way," he turned to Faith, smiling.
"I'll see you out," she said, shrugging out of Daniel's arms so she could do so.
She walked him towards the door, both pausing when they were at opposite ends.
Jason leaned in. "I hope I didn't cause any problems for you and Danny," he whispered.
Faith scoffed, fanning him off dismissively. "He'll be fine," she assured, moving towards him to embrace him. "Thanks for everything Jase."
He chuckled lightly, breathing in the scent of her before he pulled apart, his signature smile on his face. "You're welcome big head. I'll see you tomorrow."
Faith nodded and watched as he turned and left.
"Everything OK honey?" Daniel asked from behind, slightly startling Faith.
She closed the door and turned to meet his gaze. "Fine," she reassured. "Perfect actually," she added, kissing him passionately on the lips, before she pulled apart. "I'm so excited for tomorrow,' she said, hands still wrapped around his neck while she stared into his oceanic eyes.
Daniel pulled her closer towards him and heaved a sigh. "I don't think you're more excited than me."
Faith giggled. "We're finally going to have a family, huh?" she mused.
He nodded, quite proudly. "We are and guess what," he beamed.
Faith's brows furrowed. "What?"
"I think I'll cut that deal, this weekend so I'll help with the expenses," he exclaimed happily.
Faith's mouth fell, her eyes wide. "OMG babe, that's awesome!" she squealed, throwing her hands around his neck in excitement.
Faith had hoarded all the money she inherited from her grandmother, for the necessary procedures. Daniel was lacking on funds but promised as soon as things took off for him, he would contribute his sum. Faith wasn't at all bothered, because she wanted her baby anyway, but if Daniel got this deal, he so frequently spoke about, then that would take care of other things such as the surrogates medical expenses and buying things for the baby etcetera.
"I can't believe that we're gonna meet the person that will have our baby," she said moments later, when they had settled on the sofa.
Daniel planted a kiss on her forehead, before his lips parted with a smile. "Better believe it babe," he said, quickly got up and swung Faith into his arms. She squealed at the unexpectedness of his actions, but laughed when she realized he was taking her to his bedroom.
Both were overjoyed for tomorrow. A tomorrow that would change their lives forever.
