(Dan's POV)
The car pulled into the food place and I got out, I walked across in front of the car and opened the car door for Lindy. She hopped out and felt around for the wall.
"Come on" I pulled her inside the door of the food place and we climbed into a booth. There was only one more person here located at the other side of the food place. I excused myself to order the food, I stood by the counter and got something to eat. I nervously walked back to the table but not because of Lindy but because of what I was about to do.... I sat back down at the table and stared into Lindy's lifeless eyes. We just sat there for an awkward moment before both of us talked at the same time.
"So..."
"Ummm"
A few minutes passed by while we just sat there.
"Yea..." I clasped my hands together and a bell sounded from the table.
"Order 21!!" The voice shouted.
"I'll go get our order" I got up thankful for an excuse to leave.
I grabbed the tray of hot food and slowly edged my way back to the table.
"Here" I shoved the food into her hands and she felt it before nomming it.
"Lindy!! YOU FORGOT TO TAKE THE WRAP OFF YOUR HAMBURGER!!!" I shouted really quietly at her and made her smile as she bit into plastic wrap.
"Oops..." she laughed and unpeeled the plastic that invaded her burger.
After a few long moments we sat there voices ricocheted in my head off his voice.
"Kill her, we've no use for her anyway" I don't think I could kill her, she was too nice, too funny, too sweet... the voice hummed in my head and I put my hands over my ears to attempt to block out the sounds in my head. They tortured me, I couldn't do it!!
"I can't do it!!" I shouted maybe a little too loudly...
"What can't you do?" Lindy's head cocked to the side as she stared blankly into outer space. If your gonna tell her it's now or never...
"I can't,......kill you......" I chocked out the words seeing the emotion on Lindy's face change..
"He told me to kill you, he said it would break Tords heart.... I just can't though...."
"Who,..."
"I can't do it!!" I shoved my hands over my ears as the voices in my head got louder.
"Who!! Who sent you!!"
"I don't know his name!!" I calmed down a little bit and looked up into Lindy's eyes.
"Well you can go back and tell him that if he wants to kill me he'll have to come finish it off himself."
"But he has!! And he failed... that's why he sent me... he knew you'd recognize him immediately... I'm sorry.... I never intended to hurt you... maybe Tord.... but never you!!" I wailed while the person who had been here left in a rush.
"I knew it.... I should've trusted Tord.... he was right... you were just a pawn being played...." she got up and turned to face me.
"Tell-whoever sent you we're ready, bring it all, if you mess with one of us you mess with all of us." And with that she left.
I sat in my booth hearing the voices in my head. I grabbed a few fries and shoved them into my face while I got up and left, without paying.,,. Whoops.... I got into my car and drove to his hideout I guess you'd call it. I parked and got out slamming the car door behind me muttering all the way to he door.
"It's ok, he'll go to easy on you, just because you couldn't kill her doesn't mean he had to punish me.... right" even though I reassured myself plenty a times I still felt scared of what was to happen next. I shoved the big doors aside as I walked in seeing the chair turned around to face the black wall.
"So..."
"Well....." I but my lip and swayed back and forth on my feet.
"Answer me fool! I don't have all day! Did you kill the brat or not..!!"
"Well...." I felt a lump form in my throat.." sir you see killing people isn't my specialty.. I find info and report back."
"Is that a maybe?" He voice sounded utterly confused.
"Well I uh, I got some info... I guess we'll maybe sorta kinda I really don't know......." my voice trailed off as he swiveled his chair to face me.
"You mean she's still alive!!!"
"Well yes but she wanted me to tell you something.."
"So you killed her after she told you the
Message right?" He leaned up in his chair.
"No....."
"Then you failed me!!!" He stood up and time almost seemed to almost stop.
"Wait! She told me to tell you a message..."
"Fine, you may speak......,,"
"She said- we're ready, bring it all, if you mess with one of us you messes with all of us- so yeah...."
"Wait she said messes?"
"I guess I wasn't really listening....."
"Why would you say that? Is messes even a word?"
"I don't know sir, I'm pretty sure though"
"So that's all she said"
"Mostly..,."
"I really don't care.." he rubbed his templates with his fingers and ushered for me to come closer.
I cautiously stepped forward keeping my hands shoved in my pockets.
"You have failed me, and I don't like failures...."
"Sir, please don't do anything rash." I pleaded grasping my hands together and falling onto my knees.
He reached behind him and pulled out a pistol, he cocked it and held it at my head walking forward until the tip of the pistol touched my forehead. I quavered and felt my fingers shake as I spoke.
"Sir.... sir.... what are you doing..." my voice shook and fear filled my heart... this really was the end.
"I'm sorry Dan, really, I'm not but you just can't keep failing me...."
"Please sir...."
"I'm sorry Dan but I'm gonna have to let you go" and his finger pulled the trigger.
