"Walkers" that word rang through my ears and instantly hit me in the stomach. I quickly packed all of our stuff and slung one of the bags over my shoulders. I grabbed my crossbow from the floor and ushered Sophia out the door with me right behind her.
We quickly ran down the stairs and met everyone else in the living room. "How many are there?" I asked while pulling Sophia closer to me. Daryl grabbed the other bag from my hands and threw it on his back. "Too many for us to handle, girlie," I heard Merle drawl.
"Alright then why are we just standing here?! We need to get moving!" I said. Rick and Shane glared over at me. "The walkers are in the front yard and we can't get to the cars," I rolled my eyes. We should've moved the cars to the back like Daryl had suggested.
"Then we have to distract them so someone can get the cars," I said. Rick ran a hand throw his hair but remained where he was. "Is anyone taking this seriously?! Let's move. Glenn I need you with me. Merle, Andrea, TDog and Dale need to go out the side to get the RV."
"Everyone else get ready to run. I walked towards the kitchen with Glenn. I slapped my bag on the kitchen table and started digging through it. "I don't like you going out there with Chinaman, Em," I heard Daryl's familiar drawl behind me.
I sighed. "Well, we really don't have a choice, do we? I got this, don't worry about me," I said. Daryl sighed put nodded slightly. He bent down and quickly kissed me before walking back to the others. "If you get me hurt I won't hesitate to leave you for dead," I said before marching past Glenn and up the stairs.
I quickly went back into the room we were staying in and opened the window. I was instantly greeted by the smell and the moans. I looked back to see Glenn right behind me. I climbed out onto the small balcony and hoisted myself up onto the roof before helping Glenn up.
"Alright we only have two flares a piece left. We need to make them count," I looked out in the directions of the cars. "We need to throw them in the opposite direction of the cars. If there are a few stragglers I know those won't be hard to handle," I said.
Glenn nodded and we both pulled the string on the flare lighting it. I looked down at all the walkers and let some of the sparks from the flare drop down to them before chucking it across the yard. I watched as some of their heads turn and they started walking towards.
"It's working," I whispered. Glenn nodded and let his flare fly. About 10 were left and I knew we still needed to get rid of them. I lit my last flare and flung it watching as half of them followed that one. I sighed and smiled a little. Flares were our best friend.
"How are we getting out of here without being noticed?" Glenn asked. I let out a deep breath that I didn't know I was holding and pushed Glenn back towards the window. "Go on, I'll find a way out. You get back to the group," Glenn looked a little shocked and I shoved him again.
I watched as he disappeared through the window. Soon I saw the group heading out to their cars. I quickly loaded my crossbow and took out one of the walkers that was getting a little too close to Rick for my liking. I watched as he turned around and nodded at Daryl thinking it was him.
Daryl turned around and looked up seeing me on the roof. I loaded my bow again and took down a walker that was about to take a chuck out of him because he wasn't paying attention. "Get out of here!" I screamed. Daryl hesitated before running to his truck and peeling out of the yard.
I watched as everyone followed behind him and I felt myself being defeated. I really had no clue how I was getting out of here. Suddenly the RV came out of nowhere and stopped right in front of me. Merle popped his head out and shot a couple walkers.
"Come on, girlie. I ain't hanging around to become dinner. Jump!" I didn't hesitate once he said that. Once I landed on the top of the RV I sat down and held onto one of the bars for dear life. I slapped the top of the roof and Merle sped out of there leaving the walkers in the dust trying to keep up.
I sighed a little and pulled my jacket around me tighter as the cool winter air smacked me in the face with force. I knew I would most likely be up here for a while. We weren't going to stop anytime soon. I looked over and totally forgot about the vent over the bathroom.
I leaned over and opened it. I dropped my bags and then slid through the vent and landed with a soft thud. I grabbed my bags and walked through the RV which was difficult seeing as it was swerving all over the place. When I made it to the front I saw Merle in the driver's seat.
Dale was in the passenger's seat. I looked around me. "Where's Andrea and T-Dog?" I asked knowing they should be here in the RV. "Don't you worry abou-" Dale interrupted Merle. "Andrea got caught and TDog went after her but Merle drove off," he said.
I bit my tongue. I knew Merle had a grudge against both of them but I honestly didn't believe he would just leave them there. I sighed and sat back on the tiny couch trying to catch some sort of sleep knowing that we wouldn't stop until at least daylight.
~~
I was being lightly shaken awake what seemed like only five minutes later. When I opened my eyes and I was met by Dale's father like ones. "Good morning, we're stopping to figure out what to do next," I nodded slightly and stood up to follow Dale out of the RV.
Once outside I looked around and found Daryl leaning against his truck. I quickly walked over to him and wrapped my arms loosely around him. It was awkward. Daryl didn't even make an effort to hug me back. Instead he lightly pushed me away.
"Are you stupid?!" he growled. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "Don't start this. I didn't do anything that you wouldn't do. I'm alive, you're alive, Merle's alive, and Sophia's alive. That's all that matters," I said. Daryl grunted before wrapping an arm around me and pulling me into him.
Arguing and yelling broke us apart quickly. We turned around to see both Rick and Shane in Merle's face. Daryl and I quickly ran over to them. Daryl grabbed Merle while I shoved Shane and Rick back as hard as I could. Shane wasn't giving up as easily as he shoved me back.
"Back the fuck off!" I growled at him while punching his chest. I think he was a little shocked because it made him stumble back. "What the fuck are you two doing?!" I yelled at them. Rick held up a hand to try to get me to calm down while Shane tried to size me up.
"That hick left Andrea and TDog behind," Shane yelled while pointing at Merle. I turned around and looked at Merle who had a smug look on his face. "Blondie was blocked and the Mr. Yo went after her. If I waited I wouldn't have been able to get girlie out of there."
I felt my face soften slightly. "It's not his fault," I whispered. "The hell did you just say?" Shane asked me. I turned around and went to lunge at him but Rick caught me around the waist. "I said it's not his fucking fault! They got cut off!" I growled at him.
Shane scoffed. "It makes sense as to why he left them behind," he said. I growled again and tried to wiggle out of Rick's grasp. "If they didn't get left behind we would've lost four people instead of two! Get off your high horse you fucking pig!" I yelled.
I felt another pair of arms wrap around my waist and then one pair leave. I turned to see Daryl was now holding onto me. Daryl started dragging me away. I turned around and looked at Shane and spit at his feet before I got too far away. Daryl finally released me when we were a good distance away.
I noticed Shane now pointing his finger at Merle. I was waiting on Merle to lunge at Shane but he didn't. Instead Merle came stomping past us to the back of the truck. "What the hell are you doing?" I asked him. Merle continued to grab bags before looking at me.
"I'm getting out of here. I don't need them. They're just fucking pigs like you said," Merle said while slinging his bags on his back. Daryl's eyes softened. "You coming?" Merle asked. Daryl started grabbing his bags. "Daryl," I said while trying to reach out for him but he shrugged me off.
"No Merle no me. That's how it was before and that's how it will always be. If they don't want Merle around then they don't need me around," he said while slinging his bag on his back. "Come on Daryl we can work something out," I said trying to reason with him.
He shook his head. "They didn't like Merle and didn't want him around before. Nothing is going to change," he said while shutting the tailgate to his truck. I didn't know if I was shocked that he was actually leaving or the fact that he was leaving the truck and bike behind.
Daryl was now standing in front of me with his arms crossed. "Then what about me? What about Sophia, huh?! Your promise to Carol? Does that mean nothing to you anymore?!" I shouted drawing everyone's attention around us. They quickly joined us.
Merle and Daryl were standing on one side, the group on the other with me in the middle. I felt like a caged animal. Daryl's face softened before hardening again. "Then come with me!" he said while taking a step towards me. I felt my head drop and look at our boots.
I watched as Daryl's hand reached out and his fingers laced with mine. I looked behind me to the group. My eyes landed on one person. Sophia was huddled into Lori's side looking at us with sad eyes. I felt like her eyes were looking right through me.
"Promise me you'll take care of Sophia. Promise me you won't let anything happen to my little girl."
Daryl's hand squeezing mine brought me out of my thoughts. I looked back at Sophia who was sniffling a little. I turned around and looked at Daryl with sad eyes. "I...I can't. I promised," my voice barely a whisper. Daryl stared at me for a second before ripping his hand from mine.
He held his hand out with a cruel look and I felt myself shrink under his gaze. "I want it back," he said through gritted teeth. I felt myself cocking an eyebrow at him. "The ring, Emery! I want the ring back," I felt a tear slip down my cheek as I pulled the ring off my finger and placed it in his hand.
Daryl quickly tucked the ring in his pocket and started walking off with Merle. "Wait Daryl," I called out. He abruptly stopped and turned around. "What?" he growled. I sighed. "I love you," I said. That's all I could think of. I watched as Daryl shifted uncomfortably.
"Yeah, well I don't," and with that I watched as him and Merle walked off into the woods. I felt everything crumble around me. I walked over to Daryl's truck and noticed the keys still in the ignition. I leaned my head against the door when I felt someone's presence behind me.
I turned around to see Rick and Shane both standing a few feet away from me. "You better stay the hell away from me. Because of you two I just lost the two most important people in my life," I growled and they both stepped back. I watched as Sophia slowly stepped forward.
"Sophia, honey, I don't want you to worry, okay? But right now I need you to be a big girl and go ride with Mr. Rick, Miss Lori, and Carl, okay?" she nodded and I kissed her forehead. I quickly jumped in the truck and started it. Daryl Dixon had once again walked out of my life.

So thoughts on Daryl and Merle leaving because of Deputy Do Good and Dip Shit? How did you think this is going to effect the group, Sophia, and Emery?
