We ended up moving the bodies away from the camp a little ways and all sat around the fire. None of us were sleeping tonight. I sighed and sat down on the ground. The dirt was way more comfortable than the logs. I felt someone sit down behind me.
I felt a familiar hand on my back and leaned into it a little. Daryl pulled me back in between his legs and I rested my head on one of his knees. One of his hands started running through my hair. I was surprised by his sudden show of affection but completely ignored it. I didn't want him to be uncomfortable.
Everyone was silent just holding their loved ones and they all looked scared. Glenn and T-Dog were on top of the RV keeping watch. "We can't stay here," I heard Carol whisper. Rick just nodded not even looking up to acknowledge her. I sighed and leaned into Daryl more.
"Do something," Carol whispered more harshly. I rolled my eyes. This woman honestly doesn't have any clue of what she's getting herself into. She is seriously about to piss Rick off. I watched his face harden and a fist clenched before he spoke.
"I am doing something! I've kept this group safe!" he yelled quietly. I stole a quick glance at Shane. He was wrong. He hasn't kept us safe at all. He's actually made things quite worse. Merle, going back for Merle, getting Glenn and I kidnapped, people died because he wanted to sacrifice five of us to save Merle. I wanted to find Merle, don't get me wrong but Rick hasn't done shit for any of us and he never will. All he cares about is his family.
Daryl rubbed my back as if reading what I was thinking about. Shane looked irritated as he glared at absolutely nothing. Daryl bent down and rested his chin on my shoulder. "Want to go to bed?" he asked me. I nodded and I felt him stand up behind me.
He offered a hand before pulling me up. We said our goodnights and went into the tent. I sighed as I laid down heavily on my sleeping bag. Daryl soon joined me and wrapped an arm around me. "What do you think is gonna happen next?" I asked Daryl.
I felt him shrug against me. "I guess we keep moving," he said. I sighed and laid my head on his chest. "It's gonna be an early morning," I said while snuggling into his more. He chuckled a little. "Get some sleep. I'll be here when you wake up," I smiled a little before falling into a deep sleep.

I woke up the next morning and Daryl was by my side. I smiled and leaned up to kiss him. Not even a minute later he started kissing back. I pulled back and was met by his blue eyes. "Morning," he mumbled tiredly. I giggled and moved his hair out of his face.
"We should get going," I said. Daryl nodded and pulled me up with him. He stretched a little. I got up and threw some new somewhat clean clothes on. I ran my hand through my hair and shoved my beanie cap on my head. As I was walking out of the tent I felt my cap being pulled off of my head.
"Hey!" I turned around to see Daryl twirling my cap around on his index finger. "You still have this thing?" Daryl asked me while spinning it around again. I tried to reach for it but Daryl held it up in the air. "Give it back!" I said while trying to jump to get it.
Daryl chuckled while holding it higher. I jumped again causing Daryl to chuckle more. "Dare, please," I said while batting my eyelashes at him and pouting my bottom lip. Daryl froze while still holding up my cap. "Oh no, not that face. You know I can't stand it."
I pouted at him more. As I watched his hand slowly drop I took that as my opportunity to take my cap back. I slid it on my head and stuck my tongue out at him. "Real mature," he said. I chuckled and wrapped my arms around his waist. He rolled his eyes before putting his arm around me.
We heard Rick addressing everyone outside, guess that was our cue. Daryl and I walked outside arm in arm and joined the rest of the group. Rick nodded at us and turned back to the group. "We have to get moving. We can't stay here any longer. It's not safe."
Daryl snorted beside me and I quickly elbowed him. I knew what that was about. Rick said "safe." If I hadn't have elbowed him Daryl would have retorted back with something like: What is safe? or Where is safe? "Alright everyone let's pack up and start moving."
Daryl and I quickly ducked back in our tent and quickly packed everything. "How's your stitches?" I asked him. I heard him grunt and go to scratch them but I smacked his hand away. "Let me see," I said. He grunted again before slowly taking off his shirt.
I removed the bandage and looked at them. Luckily it wasn't infected. I replaced it with a fresh bandage quickly before helping him slide his shirt back on. We threw everything outside of the tent and walked it over to Daryl's truck. I sighed as I threw everything in the back.
We quickly went back to collapse the tent and threw it in the back too. Daryl threw me one side of the tarp and we quickly covered everything. I sighed again as I watched Merle's bike being covered. It was like trying to hide the pain in a way. We both missed Merle whether we wanted to admit it or not.
Everyone was now heading towards the cars. Rick rolled out a map on the hood of Daryl's truck and I was shocked when he didn't say anything about it. Rick studied the map and I looked at it while standing beside him with Daryl peeking over my shoulder.
"Fort Benning. Still an option," Shane said. Daryl scoffed and I elbowed him again. "You got something better?" Shane retorted towards Daryl. I felt Daryl's hand clench around some of the fabric on the back of my shirt. I placed my hand over his.
"Yeah," Daryl growled back. I squeezed his hand telling him secret to stop. I knew exactly where he was thinking about going. "We should swing towards Griffin. It's about a 30 minute drive. There's a mall there with a hunting store. Ammo, guns, crossbows, other assorted weapons that would really do us some good. Then we head towards Barnesville."
Rick watched closely as I traced my fingers over the map. "We'll take 16 into Griffin after that head down 19 to Barnesville," I said. Rick nodded a little before rolling the map back up. "What's in Barnesville?" Shane snarled. I stepped back a little from the tone in his voice.
"A small five house gated community," I said. "How would you know?" Shane snarled again. I really wanted to back hand him at this point. "Why does it matter?" I retorted. He glared at me and crossed his arms. "How do we know where you're leading us is safe?"
I scoffed and threw my hands in the air. "Look around Walsh! Where is safe?!" I watched his face harden before Rick stepped in between us. "Shane that's enough," Rick said. I watched Shane take a step back as Daryl put a protective arm around me. "Alright everyone let's load up!"
I sighed as Daryl and I slowly walked towards his truck and got in. I could tell he wasn't happy about the Shane was talking to me. We pulled up the rear in the caravan and made our way towards Griffin. I didn't get too comfortable because I knew it.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Daryl asked me. I looked over at him and arched an eyebrow. "We're staying at your place?" he questioned again. I nodded understanding now. "That's the idea. It's gated meaning nothing should be in there except what was left. There's only five houses so they shouldn't be that hard to clear out."
Daryl bit on his thumbnail nervously. "We'll need weapons and lots of them," I continued. I sighed as I sat back in the seat. We would need a lot of things. Clothes, food, even though we just got some, it would all run out soon. I sighed again and ran a hand over my face.
It wasn't much longer and we were finally at the mall. We pulled into the parking lot and all got out. Surprisingly there wasn't any walkers around. We quickly all huddled together waiting for a plan. Everyone looked at me which I was shocked I was expecting them to look at Rick.
"You seem to know the way around here so you tell us," Rick said. I thought for a moment before answering. "The women, kids and Dale stay here and keep watch except me. Daryl and I know the way around the inside and you'll need us both there," Rick nodded before starting to distribute weapons. "Alright, let's go."
