For the Glory - Chapter Twenty-One

"You can't do that to Savage – that's too cruel!" Hiccup protested.

"I'm Alvin kid, it's kinda my thing."

"Don't kill Savage, Alvin: not many people deserve to die." Hiccup muttered. Alvin glanced at him, noticing the empty look in Hiccup's eyes.

He sighed, and lowered himself to Hiccup's level, placing his massive hands on Hiccup's shoulders.

"Kid, look at me."

Hiccup did so.

"No one deserves to die." Alvin said sternly, making sure Hiccup was making eye contact with him. He called the guards back and they returned, still carrying Savage.

"Place him in cell number two instead." Was all he said, but Savage started crying in joy the moment the word 'two' left his lips.

"Thank you, sir! Thank you so much!" Savage said.

"The only reason I'm doing this is because the brat told me to, so you should be thanking him." Alvin growled, and Savage shut up.

As Savage was pulled away again, Hiccup watched him leave, while reminiscing on what Alvin said to him. He understood why Alvin said that to him, but honestly he just felt... angry about it.

Alvin had no idea what he, Hiccup, had gone through! So why tell him that no one deserves to die? Hiccup definitely knew a few... or maybe just one... person who did. Alvin trying to understand isn't what he wanted. What he wanted, was just to be by himself, alone, with a few sharp objects to use for whatever he needed...

"Kid? Kid? Hiccup!" Alvin was shouting at him.

"Huh? Yeah? Alvin?" Hiccup said, eyes frantically moving everywhere. He took a deep breath and calmed down. "What's wrong?"

"Hiccup, are you alright?"

"Yeah... yeah, I'm fine."

"..." Alvin looked at Hiccup. He really looked at him. "No. No, you're not."

"What? I told you; I'm-"

"Come with me." Alvin said, tightly grabbing hold of Hiccup's arm, and dragging him back through the area.

As they walked, Hiccup could see swords he couldn't wield, shields he couldn't lift, and dragon heads that made him want to throw up. All of them made Hiccup feel even more useless, even more pathetic and – what upset him the most – even more weak.

Tears rose up into his eyes, and Hiccup hurriedly blinked them away. Crying in front of Alvin was probably not the best idea...

"Hopefully we'll get there soon..." Hiccup muttered to himself, walking a little brisker, to get away from the wall decorations as quickly as possible.

Alvin noticed Hiccup's change in attitude and his change in appearance – Hiccup was paler, more tired, and... was he turning green?

Alvin quickly removed his helmet and flipped it upside down, and then passed it to Hiccup, who immediately threw up in it.

"Have you got the flu or something, boy?" Alvin asked, while Hiccup was retching into the helmet.

"I'm.... sorry...." Hiccup said in between his vomiting. "The wall...."

Alvin glanced at the wall, and immediately spotted the mounted heads, propped up on the walls.

Hiccup lives on an island inhabited by dragons! Alvin thought to himself. You're such an idiot - of course Hiccup would feel sick; he's looking at the heads of his friends that you've displayed as trophies!

"No, I'm sorry Hiccup." Alvin replied. "I should've payed more attention to what we were passing, or distracted you so you wouldn't have looked at the walls, or just gone a different route..." He trailed off, paused, then continued, "Anyway, we're almost there, so try to calm down a bit."

Alvin walked to the next door and pushed it open. Inside was a couple of leather couches and a large table. Aside from a small clock on the wall, the room was otherwise bare. Hiccup shakily walked inside, slightly intimidated by the lack of... anything, in the room.

"Please lie down on the couch." Alvin said, pointing to the couch closest to the door. Hiccup stared at Alvin for a second.

"Alright." Hiccup said in return, seeming extremely tired. He dully walked to the couch and sat down, turned, and lay on the couch.

Alvin frowned. Hiccup lately had been acting more... tired, and complacent, as if there was no point in arguing anymore. He looked paler, and not just because he saw dragon heads earlier – he's been looking mentally ill for the last couple days, gradually getting worse as the minutes ticked on.

Hiccup needed to relieve his stresses NOW.

And Alvin knew just how to do it.

Alvin sat on the opposite couch and he turned to face Hiccup. As his face looked at Hiccup's, he noticed his dead eyes and shallow cheeks.

Alvin brought out a notebook and pen, and put glasses on.

"Okay Hiccup... tell me how you're feeling."

And that's another chapter! I'm sorry about how late I've been updating, but I'll try to hurry along. Honestly, I wish I could say that 'the next chapter will come out soon!' or something like that but I really can't. I've had school troubles, friend troubles and extra activities, like swimming, that have been keeping me extremely busy lately.

All I can do is promise that I'll try my hardest to post a new chapter soon.

But for now...

Peachy out! 😊
