For the Glory - Chapter One
Three days earlier...
"Oy, Stoick," A man called out.
"Aye, Gobber, what's the matter?" Stoick asked.
"We've received a message from Alvin. He's coming here in a month... For Hiccup."
"Hiccup?! Why?"
"He didn't outright say Hiccup's name, he only said he wanted to meet the Dragon Conqueror... Which is Hiccup. Alvin doesn't know that Hiccup is the Dragon Conqueror – or as he'd prefer it to be called – Dragon Trainer, so we have a chance. Any ideas, Stoick?"
"Hmm..." Stoick said, thinking hard. "I have one, but it will be quite painful if we pull it off correctly..."
"Do you want me to keep Gothi tabbed, so we can get to her at a moment's notice?" Gobber asked.
"It won't be physically painful Gobber, it will be emotionally painful." Stoick replied darkly. "Gather everyone and tell them to meet me in the Great Hall at 9AM. Also, keep Hiccup busy all day, ask for him to work in the forge or something – ok?"
"Alright Chief, but why?"
"Never you mind, Gobber, I'll explain at the meeting."
--- Time Skip ---
"Ok, glad you're all here." Stoick announced at the meeting.
"Everyone except Hiccup." Astrid replied. "Why isn't he here?"
Stoick looked at her for a second before answering, while deep in thought. Poor Astrid, this will probably really upset her, especially because she most likely has a crush on him. I wouldn't get her involved, except for the fact that Hiccup also has a crush on her, so if she gets involved, the plan would have a much higher chance of succeeding...
"Hiccup not being here was planned from the start. I had Gobber send him out with Toothless to collect some berries and other supplies from the island up north. He should be gone for an hour or two, as the flight alone takes 30 minutes."
"Why?" The crowd shouted at Stoick, confused.
"Alvin will arrive here in just under a month for 'The Dragon Conqueror'. We need to get Hiccup into a state where he doesn't believe he's anything and will shut himself down so Alvin won't see him as a threat and kidnap him."
"So, you mean-"
"-We'll have to bully Hiccup?" The twins asked.
"Yes. Hiccup is a terrible actor, so we can't tell him about this, it will end up failing." Gobber answered. "I really don't feel comfortable with this idea, but it's all we have. Does anyone else have an idea?"
No one put their hands up.
"Well then, this is the only one we have." Stoick said. "We need to act like we did before, before Hiccup shot Toothless down in the first place. We can't tell Hiccup about this. We can't tell Toothless about this."
"Why not Toothless?" Snotlout asked.
"Because he is supposed to be Hiccup's anchor. Without Toothless, if we acted like we used to, Hiccup could go insane without him. If Toothless got informed about what's going on, then he wouldn't allow Hiccup to be around anyone; he wouldn't trust anyone, and he would make sure Hiccup didn't trust anyone. We could lose Hiccup if he did that."
"We could lose Hiccup for good just going through with this plan! It could break him!" Astrid yelled.
"We won't break Hiccup. And as for losing him – we'll have to take the risk." Stoick replied. Breathing deeply, he thought: Oh, I knew I shouldn't have gotten Astrid involved in this. I hoped for too much, she's obviously going to tell Hiccup everything!
"Well, I won't be a part of it!" Astrid shouted. "I won't stand by and watch as you destroy your own son! I'll tell him right now!" She strode off in the direction of the doors, intent of telling Hiccup what's going on. Stoick grabbed her arm quickly.
"We can't let you do that, Astrid. I'm sorry." Stoick dragged her in the direction of the back exit, close to the jail cells. Quickly realising her future destination, Astrid kicked at Stoick, catching his upper leg, making him groan in pain and release her. With a quick 'Sorry!' as she left, Astrid darted away, in the direction of the doors once again.
Unfortunately, she didn't think anyone else would stop her. Another hand reached out and grabbed her. A different hand than Stoick's. Spitelout's.
"Oy, lassie." Spitelout said to her. "We won't do anything to harm you, we'll just be keeping you separate from Hiccup for the next month. We'll let your dragon stay with you, if you'd like, as long as someone's guarding you."
"I'm not staying in a jail cell for a month!" Astrid yelled.
"You won't be in a jail cell, Astrid." Stoick said, getting up. "You'll be in the recently built suite cell. It serves the same purpose as a jail cell, but for people who haven't committed any real crimes, but just need to be kept away from the group, we'll put here."
"I still need to let Hiccup know!" She shouted and started fighting to break free, lashing out at Spitelout. Gobber and Stoick ran to his aid, and together, they left the Great Hall, placing Astrid in the suite cell.
In the suite cell, it's just like a nice bedroom, blue walls, brown floor, soft bed, etc, with a little additional room for Stormfly. Since Astrid won't be around Hiccup, it would confuse him to see Stormfly. So, the additional room they made was a dragon proof, while one of the walls was see-through, so Astrid could see and talk to Stormfly. Although obviously Stormfly has to be separate from Astrid, otherwise she'd jump on Stormfly and fly away!
As soon as the door slammed shut, Astrid started banging on it, screaming for them to let her out. When she lodged off her shoe and chucked it at the man who brought her food, Zippleback gas was let into her cell, knocking Astrid out cold. The last thing she said was Hiccup's name, before she collapsed on the floor, and someone came into the room to move her onto the bed.
Kay, that's the first main chap! I was going to put Hiccup in there, but I thought it ended fairly well. What did you guys think? I wasn't sure at first what to write, but once I wrote this I thought it was alright. I want this to be a Hiccstrid story, so Astrid couldn't be involved – so I separated her from the others. Don't worry, she'll be back soon.
But for now...
Peachy out! 😊
