Chapter 04

Owen go us to the main control room in no time. He wasn't happy. Knowing my brother, he would match in there and start yelling because of what had happened.

Owen was hard to keep up with. I ran into several people, had to stop for a second to apologize before running off to catch up to my brother only to have it happen again.

Owen waited in the elevator for me, before hitting the floor button. "Thanks for walking slow" I said in sarcasm, slipping into the elevator. Owen rolls his eyes and hits a button. The elevator moves down.

Owen and I stepped out of the elevator and into the control room. I noticed Claire giving orders and the park director, Masrani. A secruity guard tried to stop us from coming in.

"I need to see your badge" The man said to Owen. Owen ignored him focusing on Claire now. "Sir. Sir!" He walked with Owen, trying to force us out of the room.

"What the hell happened back there? There were thermal scans all over that paddock. Okay, she did not just disappear!" Owen shouted to Claire, while fighting the security man.

Claire turned to face Owen, trying to remain calm. "It must of been a technical malfunction." She told us as the excuse. Technical malfunction wasn't good enough for Owen, and not for me either. We almost died.

"We're you not watching?" Owen retorted to Claire, still angry. "She marked up that wall as a distraction. She wanted us to think she escaped." Owen explained to Claire, thinking she understood. Claire quickly faced Owen.

"Hold on! We are talking about an animal here."

"A highly intelligent animal." I spoke up, stressing the animal's intelligence.

"400 meters to the beacon." A lady with curled hair spoke from her work space.

All of our's attention was now directed to the screen. There were small screens showing cars driving down a muddy path, photos of ACU men and there pulse, then a map with a big red dot. They were tracking the Indominous.

"You're going after her with nonlethals?." Owen asked in disbelief, looking fearful.

"We have 26 million dollars invested in that asset. We can't just kill it." Simon Masrani explained.

"Those men are going to die." I whispered to Owen, coming to realization what would happen.

"300 meters to the beacon." The woman spoke.

"Call this mission off." He ordered, trying to do the right thing and save some lives.

"They're right on top of it." A man with glasses and dark brown hair said aloud.

"Call it off right now." Owen said to the room once more. His voice remained leveled. Claire, however, wasn't liking Owen and raised hers.

"You are not in control here!" She shouted in frustration. My eyes glued themselves to the monitor.

The beacon began to beep, signaling they were there. Someone who looked like the commander took charge, bent down and picked up something that looked like a chunk of skin while standing ankle deep in a stream. The something of pinkish, scaly "skin" had a small, cylinder inside of it- beeping.

"What is that?" Masrani asked.

"That's her tracking implant, she clawed it out." Owen realized as we walked in front of Claire and the work stations.

"How would it know to do that?" Claire asked confused. My mind felt like a bus had hit it. This asset was too much for me to handle.

"She remember where they put it in." I answered her. This couldn't be good.

The leader looked up like something had dropped on him. It looked think, and had a deep red color. Blood?

We heard a rustling, and breaking in the branches of the tall trees. A patch of green, turned white and the Indominous Rex made herself known again.

"It can camouflage!" The commander shouted before a ring of zappers and screaming went off. After picking up the commander with her claw, the dinosaur dropped him into the water and stepped on top of him- crushing the life out. A red line dropped to a sustained tone next to his picture. Dead.

Another appeared after a man had been flung into a tree break, breaking his spine. Dead. I noticed Owen watching me from the corner of his eye for a moment- then turned to face Claire.

Another line and tone joined in next to the man who was flattened by a tree truck. Dead.

The Indominous lets out a terrifying roar, picks up another trooper with her jaw, killing him and letting the blood fall. Dead.

One last line appeared with the tone after the Indominous swallowed a shooter whole. Dead. Everything went quiet.

My hands had made their way to cover my mouth during that. Owen turned around to the others.

"Evacuate the island." Owen told her. He wasn't wrong at all. I slowly made my way around too, still shocked. She looked stunned.

"We would never re-open." She said almost a whisper.

"You created a genetic hybrid." Owen stated, pointing back to the screens. "Raised it in captivity," he listed. "She is seeing all of this for the first time. She does not even know what she is. She will kill everything that moves." Owen tried his hardest to drill that into their heads.

"You think the animal is contemplating its own existence?" Masrani questioned, sounding unsure.

"She is learning where she fits into the food chain, and I'm not sure you want her to figure that out." I answered him in simpler terms with honesty.

"Asset Containment can use live ammunition in an emergency situation." Owen informed them, meaning they could use real guns. "You have an M-134 in your armory. Put it on a chopper and smoke this thing!" He demanded. The room stared at Owen. I've seen Owen mad, but not like this.

"We have families here. I'm not just going to turn this place into some kind of a war zone!" Claire stressed, not liking his idea.

"You already have." Owen shot back, not caring. I had to agree with him.

"Mr. Grady if you aren't going to help there is no need for you to be in here, and Ms. Grady you shouldn't be here at all." She pointed her finger at me. I glared and started to walk up and out. Owen snapped and swung his arm through a line of toy dinosaurs that had been sitting onto of the man with glasses' work station. The guy sighed in frustration.

Owen stormed off, but not before stopping to talk to Masrani. I got down on my knees and picked up the little dinosaur figurines, feeling guilt for Owen's actions. I handed them back to the man, named Lowery.

"Thanks." He said, looking a little pleased and shocked at my kindness. I smiled and noticed his "Jurassic Park" shirt.

"Jess!" I heard my name being called. I looked up and saw Owen motioning me over to the elevator telling me we're leaving.

As I walked out I turned back to Lowery, "Nice shirt." I complimented. My legs carried me quickly to the elevator before the doors shut. Owen sighed loudly as soon as we were out of that room. He was frustrated beyond belief.

"Now where are we going?" I asked, wondering what his next move was.

"I want to talk to their people working in the lab. I need to know what that thing is made of." He told me, trying to remain calm.

After arriving to the lab, that didn't last long. He was currently fighting a guard to get into the lab. He couldn't just walk in like he had hoped. I am leaning against a wall, not wanting to be involved. "Hey! You think I'm the one you need to be worried about right now?" Owen shouted, raising his hands up. He drew a crowd. "Back off!"

We were quickly thrown out of that area after Owen's performance. I chose to stay silent- not wanting to upset him anymore.

We walked through the main innovation center. My eyes picked up on a red head in all white. I nudged Owen and pointed to Claire Dearing.

"Claire!" I shouted her name. She snapped her head in our direction and ran forward, stressed out.

"I need you." She pleaded with Owen. He nodded slightly.

"Okay."

"I need your help. My nephews, they're out in the valley. Please, if anything happens to them-" Claire rambled on. Owen pulled Claire and I over to a quieter area and away from commotion.

"How old?" Owen asked. She looked like she was thinking really hard.

"The older one is like, um-high school, Jess's age!" She exclaimed pointing at me. "And the younger one, he's um- he's a few years-" I stared at her in disbelief.

"You don't know how old your nephews are?" I questioned, maybe too judgmental that I hoped. Claire stared at me for a second.

"Just help me find them." She pleaded again, focusing back to Owen. Owen nodded and turned to me next.

"Jess, I want you to take the "stolen" car-" He joked with me.

"The what?!" Claire interjected. Owen tossed me the keys, me catching them.

"and head back to the bunglow. Stay inside and whatever you do- do not leave." Owen ordered me. When telling me not the leave, he raised his voice, trying to make me understand that I wasn't to leave.

"No. I want to find the kids." I protested, not wanting to sit at home feeling helpless.

"Okay, well I want you to stay put and away from the Indominous." Owen said back to me. I sighed. "Please just go. It'll be okay." Owen reassured me.

"Okay." I have in. "I'll take the car." I held up the keys. Owen hugged me, before running off with Claire. They were in a hurry to find her nephews before anything could happen. And so was I.

I promised my brother is take the car, but I did no such thing about going home. Knowing I could find the boys and get them safe before Claire and Owen did, I ran off to the car, buckled up and sped off to the valley.
