Chapter Sixteen

Seth looked up at the display of movies before him and scratched his head. His friends were still deciding which movie they all wanted to see, while he was debating on even going in the theatre in the first place. He couldn't figure out why he let them talk him into going in the first place.

"Tough choice, isn't it?" Came Serena's voice, garnering the brunette's attention.

"I guess you could say that," Seth shrugged, glancing between the two movies he was mildly interested in.

"I can see you're not really a movie-goer. That's alright," Serena smiled.

"My friend Jamie and my sister Melody are more into this than I-"

"Seth! Yo Seth!"

"Speak of the devil, Jamie?" Seth blinked, somewhat surprised to see his friend at the theatre.

Jamie scampered away from the ticket counter after acquiring his ticket and stopped in front of Seth and Serena.

"How did I know I was gonna see you here?" Seth smirked.

Jamie laughed and pounded knuckles with Seth.

"Did you really think I'd miss the big premier of Liepard Woman?" Jamie grinned.

"That's right, how could I forget your crush on the actress?" Seth stated with a wry grin.

"H-Hey! It's not a crush, it's a fascination," Jamie replied hastily.

"There's a difference?" Serena interjected.

Jamie's eyes shifted to Serena, a question forming within as he drank in her appearance.

"Who's this?" Jamie asked curiously.

"This is Serena, she's a new friend," Seth stated casually.

"Nice to meetcha," Jamie grinned, "I'm Jamie."

"A pleasure to meet you, Jamie," Serena replied with a smile.

"Hey Serena, we decided!" Shauna exclaimed as she ran up beside her friend.

"Yes. After much debate we all decided that Liepard Woman was the option we wanted," Trevor added.

"Cool, so I guess that settles it then," Serena replied.

Jamie slid up beside Seth and watched as Seth's new companions talked.

"Yo Seth, when did you meet them? And since when did you actually talk to girls?" Jamie teased, nudging his friend playfully.

Seth rolled his eyes.

"I met them on the way to Santalune City. I decided to tag along with them since they were on a journey together," Seth explained.

"Are you sure it's not because those two are hella cute?" Jamie grinned.

Seth folded his arms and shook his head.

"They're just friends. Besides...wouldn't it be a bit odd if any of them were more than that? After all, I am in a contest for the hand of a princess," Seth stated simply.

"I thought you didn't care about that," Jamie replied with a quirked brow.

"I don't. But it would probably hinder my chances of winning the other prize if I start dating another woman," Seth shrugged.

"Good point," Jamie responded.

"Besides, Melody and her friend would hound me about it," Seth muttered.

"Speaking of Melody..." Jamie laughed nervously, jerking his thumb towards the line.

Melody and Kate were standing in line when they took note that Seth was there as well. They both smiled brightly and waved to him, who waved back in return.

"Her and Kate came with me tonight. Your mom was gonna be working a bit late so we all decided to come here," Jamie informed Seth.

Seth let out an exasperated sigh. "Of course she would be working late," he murmured.

Jamie patted his back reassuringly.

"Don't sweat it Seth. She said she'd be home at ten," Jamie explained.

Seth took a deep breath and relaxed his shoulders.

"At least it isn't as late as usual," Seth said optimistically.

"No kidding. Anyway, you better get your ticket before that line gets any bigger," Jamie reminded him.

Taking his friend's advice, Seth stepped into the line and waited to buy his ticket. After a few minutes, he had his ticket and was walking into the theatre with the entire entourage of friends he had with him.

Allie sighed in relief as she and Charles made it into Ambrette Town after traversing through Connecting Cave and Muraille Coast. The two were checking in to the Hotel Ambrette and were already planning the next day's events.

"So we'll be heading up the beach side of Muraille Coast and into Cyllage City," said Charles as they mapped out the day.

"Will we be stopping on the beach? I would love to bask in the sun for a while," Allie inquired, crossing one leg over the other.

"But of course! I had planned on a half day on the beach before making my challenge at the gym," Charles replied with a grin.

"Trés magnifique! That sounds wonderful," Allie said excitedly.

"Excellent. Now, I think we should retire for the night. I am quite exhausted," Charles yawned.

"Very well then. I shall retire to my room as well. We shall reconvene in the morning then," Allie said cheerfully, standing up to head to the door.

"Goodnight princess," Charles called to her as she reached for the doorknob.

Allie turned and offered him a smile.

"Goodnight Charles," she replied before slipping out the door and down the hall.

Sighing contentedly, Charles flopped back onto his bed and looked up at the ceiling.

Today was fairly successful. Princess Allie seemed rather impressed with me thus far...

As Charles rested, his holocaster went off, drawing his attention to it. Tapping the button on the holocaster, Charles answered the call. A hologram of his father appeared, prompting Charles to straighten up.

"Good evening father," Charles greeted.

"Charles, how are things proceeding, my son?" His father inquired.

"All is well. Allie has displayed confidence in me and it's only the end of the first day," Charles beamed.

"Perfect. It is important to make certain that the princess is at her happiest," Charles' father replied.

"I don't believe that will be a problem. She has been all smiles since we started out," Charles grinned.

"Excellent! Keeping that up will assure you victory. And victory brings us closer to our ultimate goal."

Charles nodded and looked at the time.

"I apologize for cutting this short, but today has been a long day and I simply must rest. I have a gym battle tomorrow and I must be able to perform my best for the princess," Charles explained with a yawn.

"You mean your future wife? Do not be afraid to consider the prize already won. After all, the Pokémon you have were bred so that you could achieve victory," his father reminded.

"I remember father. The two you gave me are more than suitable for the task at hand," Charles smirked.

"Of course they are. Well, I shall bid you goodnight then. I am sure your gym battle will be no trouble at all. Rest well my son," said Charles' father as he faded out.

Charles smiled and waved before putting his holocaster aside and setting the alarm. His eyes shifted to the two spheres resting on the bedside table. The two spheres were black with yellow and red stripes across the top. Luxury balls.

Rest up you two. Tomorrow, we shall show the princess why we are the ones who are worthy of her hand...

"That was awesome!" Jamie exclaimed excitedly as he and the others made it out of the theatre.

"I know right!? Diantha did an AMAZING job. I honestly don't think they could have picked a better actress," Melody chimed in.

"The action scenes were very well coordinated. It made me wanna-"

"Dance?" Shauna interjected.

"Yeah!" Tierno grinned. "It was fun to watch!"

"What did you think, Seth?" Serena inquired.

"It was pretty good," Seth began. "There were a few scenes in the movie that I wondered about, but other than those questionable ones, the movie was well put together," Seth replied.

"Questionable scenes as in?" Jamie quizzed.

"Jamie... we saw Diantha stark naked from behind," Seth muttered.

"Oh... yeah, that part," Jamie laughed nervously.

"Thankfully they blurred her as she walked away," Serena inputted.

"Still, it was a great movie! Totally worth watching," Shauna beamed.

"I agree with you there Shauna," Kate said cheerily.

Seth stretched his arms above his head and yawned, indicating that he was tired. He listened to the group chat about the movie for a while longer before deciding he was ready to turn in.

"This was fun, but I think I'm gonna turn in," Seth announced, turning to leave the theatre.

"Heading out already?" Jamie asked quickly.

Seth shrugged.

"I'm tired, and I need to be ready to move tomorrow," Seth explained, turning his eyes to the rest of the group who all showed signs of being tired as well.

Even the ever energetic Shauna was looking a little worn down.

"I think I'll do the same," Serena added. "I plan to get moving early."

"We'd better get moving too. I just remembered I promised your mom I'd have Melody and Kate back right after the movie," Jamie said with a nervous chuckle.

"Relax Jamie, mom's not gonna bite your head off," Melody interjected.

"You say that as if you've never seen her mad before," Jamie murmured.

"Just make sure they get home safe," Seth stated firmly.

Jamie fixed his friend with a serious expression. He knew that his sister meant the world to him, as did his mother. Jamie wouldn't dare let any harm come to his best friend's sister or her friend for that matter. It was half the reason why Clauncher was clipped to his belt. With a smirk he reached for a fist bump. Seth reciprocated the action.

"No problem bro. I brought Clauncher with me. Nothing bad's gonna happen to these two on my watch," Jamie assured Seth.

Seth nodded and looked over at Melody who gave him a reassuring smile before walking over and hugging her big brother tightly, placing a kiss on each cheek before pulling away.

"I'll see you soon big bro," Melody beamed before stepping back beside her friend Kate.

"Take care okay? Make sure mom isn't overdoing it either," Seth reminded her.

"You worry too much Seth. Mom will be fine. You just go kick everyone else's ass in that competition," Melody stated firmly while placing her hands on her hips.

"I intend to," Seth replied confidently.

"That's my big bro," Melody smiled.

"And don't forget to treat the princess nicely, no matter how much you want to bite off her head," Kate reminded him.

Seth rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"That might be more difficult than you think," Seth replied. "But for you guys, I'll do my best."

"And that's all I ask," Melody beamed.

With one final wave, Seth departed the theatre, the others filing out as well. Within minutes, the crew was settled into their rooms and ready for bed. Seth remained awake for a while longer, reflecting on the day. One thing still bothered him...

How does half the city not have power? It doesn't make sense...

And that takes care of another short chapter! I hope you all enjoyed this little filler chapter as it will pick up from here. I have a few surprises in store for you all, so be prepared.

Ciao!
