Chapter 5
(Just listen to the song, it has nothing to do with the chapter, but I like it and it's been stuck in my head all day)
(Alex P.O.V)
Immigrant.
Bastard.
I rolled over and pulled Ducky into my arms.
Orphan.
Whore's son.
I felt tears pool from my eyes and make their way down my cheeks.
Useless. (Inútil)
Arrogant.
Ducky nuzzled his head into my chest and pawed at my face gently. This is why I try to avoid other humans. They don't like me very much.
Immigrant.
Is it really that obvious?
Immigrant.
I need a nap, or a hug. I'll go for a nap. More accessible then a hug.
So I fell asleep, pillow stained with tears, tear tracks under my eyes, my cat in my arms.
What a great way to take a nap.
(John P.O.V)
I sat with Christine and Evan, I'm pretty sure Peggy snuck in too, but none of them had my attention.
Alexander has seemed genuinely rattled back there, I guess I would be too if it was me. But still he—
"Hey! Wake up!" And that's Christine.
I snapped out of my thoughts as Christine waved a hand in my face, her dark eyes gleaming with excitement. Honestly, this girl is always exited.
"I'm awake, I never went to sleep." I commented, pushing her arm back.
"Evan called your name and you didn't respond. You seemed asleep. Or dead."
Evan nodded slowly, looking down without saying a word. He was a really quiet person, and had a bad case of anxiety, so I didn't really expect him to say anything anyways.
"I was just... thinking."
"About who?" Christine got all up in my face and I couldn't help but laugh as I pushed her away again.
"No one."
"Sure..." Christine raised an eyebrow.
We had a staring competition for a little bit until there was a loud noise from the kitchen.
"Peggy?" I called out, almost certain she'd snuck in and was hiding in the kitchen.
"No!" Peggy shrieked back. "Not Peggy!"
"Pegs, come down from the fridge."
"I'm not Pegs and I'm not on the fridge!"
"You can come here and tell the truth or I can check the candy box."
We heard footsteps and Peggy walked into the living room, scampering onto a shelf while Christine and Evan watched. Christine looked amazed, Evan looked scared. I don't blame him.
"I'm here." Peggy crossed her arms and glared down at me, then moved her focus to Christine and stated very plainly, "You're pretty."
Christine blinked for a second, then laughed. I shot Peggy a look and she shrugged innocently. That girl's gonna be the end of all my other friendships.
Christine started talking with Peggy so I tuned out and thought back on what had happened with Alexander.
Gay immigrant.
Why had she assumed he was gay?
Oh wait.
That's why.
Evan said something, which I decided deserved attention, because he doesn't really talk much unless he's on camera.
"What?" I asked, looking at him.
"Y-y I... uhh... you were blushing." Evan stuttered, clearly only now realizing he'd said anything.
"Aww little Johnny is blushing!" Peggy yelped.
"Aww little Johnny is crushing!" Christine chimed in and I sighed.
"No, I'm not."
"Yes you are!" Peggy shrieked, and Christine joined in, even more high pitch.
"Oh no." Evan put his head in his hands, resting his elbows on his knees and looking absolutely overwhelmed by the two insane pterodactyls that were screaming.
I leaned back in my chair, awaiting the end of the screaming.
"So? Who is it?" Peggy leaned forwards, handing upside down from her perch.
"You should take up gymnastics, you'd be good." I commented as she swung down from the shelf nimbly.
"You didn't answer my question." She stared nearly down, despite her being considerably shorter. Like Alexander.
"I'm not crushing on anyone." I protested.
Everyone in the room stared at me, eyes unbelieving. Even Evan raised an eyebrow. But I'm not crushing on anyone... right?
Wait, hold up, yes I am. I see.
Oops.
"Fine!" I flopped back in my chair and Peggy stared at me, expecting more.
"Oh, I'm not telling you who." I stared back at her.
"Yes you are."
"No I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"Wh-who is it?" Evan broke our arguing, looking at me with those adorable eyes he uses as weapons to get what he wants.
"Evan you're too cinnamon roll-y for me to say no to!" I scolded playfully.
"So you're telling us?"
"Fine. It's Alexander."
"Who?" Christine looked at Peggy, who looked at Evan, who looked at me.
"No, figure it out on your own."
It only hit me then that I'd admitted to having a crush on Alexander. Oops.
