twelve.

Sunday was stretched out on her bed, her phone in hand as she typed a text to Lucifer, her lips twitching into a small smile every time his name lit up on the screen. She could almost hear his deep, sarcastic voice in the short, teasing replies he sent back. The soft glow of her fairy lights illuminated her room, highlighting the lavender tones and plush decor that made the space uniquely hers.

Her moment of peace was interrupted when her bedroom door flew open, her two sisters, Demitra and Eliana, strutting in like they owned the place. They didn't even knock—typical.

"What if I was naked?" Sunday groaned, glancing up from her phone as they made themselves comfortable on her couch. Her bedroom wasn't just a bedroom; it was more like a mini-apartment with a sitting area, a walk-in closet, and a private bathroom. One of the many perks of their family's wealth, but also the reason her sisters seemed to think her space was a free-for-all.

"Don't nobody care," Demitra shot back, flipping her long, dark curls over her shoulder. She leaned against the arm of the couch, a smug grin on her face. "We came to talk about him."

Sunday's brows furrowed in confusion until Eliana chimed in, sitting cross-legged on the carpet. "Zion," she clarified, dragging out his name like it was a secret she'd been dying to spill. "Okay, Sunday, I approve."

"Yeah," Demitra added, nodding emphatically. "He's fine. Like, really fine."

Sunday rolled her eyes, trying to fight back the blush creeping up her cheeks. "Okay, can y'all not?"

"I'm serious!" Eliana cut in, holding up her hands defensively. "He looks like he could bench press Noah."

As if on cue, Noah popped his head into the room, then wandered in fully, plopping himself down beside Eliana and resting his head on her lap. He raised a brow at the conversation, looking vaguely offended. "Hey, what's that supposed to mean?"

"It means you don't exactly scream gym bro," Demitra teased, smirking. "But it's fine. You've got other qualities."

"Thanks?" Noah said, not entirely convinced. He leaned back against Eliana's legs, looking up at her with mock hurt. "Your sisters are mean."

Eliana giggled, brushing her fingers through his hair. "Don't listen to them, babe. I like that you're not a gym bro."

"Good," he muttered, though his gaze shifted back to Sunday. "But, uh, if I'm being honest? Lucifer kinda scares me."

Sunday's laughter bubbled out before she could stop it. "Nooo," she protested, shaking her head. "He's a literal teddy bear. You just gotta get to know him."

"A teddy bear who could crush someone's skull with his bare hands," Demitra said, smirking as she mimed flexing her arms. "I mean, did you see those muscles? Man looks like he walked straight out of a Marvel movie."

"Okay, that's enough," Sunday said, though she couldn't help but smile. "Y'all are embarrassing."

"He liked my cooking," Demitra said, brushing imaginary dust off her shoulder. "So he's already a 10 in my book."

Eliana nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

Sunday rolled her eyes again, but there was no hiding the warmth that spread through her chest. It was true—Lucifer had been nothing but genuine with her and her family. That night at dinner, he'd been charming, respectful, and even a little vulnerable in a way that most people never got to see. The fact that her sisters and Noah liked him too? That was just the cherry on top.

"Okay, but enough about him," Sunday said, setting her phone down and sitting up. "What's up? Why are y'all really in here?"

Demitra and Eliana exchanged a look, the kind that only sisters could decipher. Then Demitra leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees. "We just wanted to make sure you're good," she said, her tone softer now. "Like, really good. Lucifer seems great, but... I don't know. Are you happy?"

Sunday blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in tone. "Yeah," she said after a moment, her voice quieter. "I'm happy. He makes me happy."

Eliana smiled, reaching out to squeeze her hand. "Good. That's all we wanted to hear."

For a moment, the room was quiet, the weight of their words hanging in the air. Then Noah, ever the comic relief, broke the silence. "Okay, but for real, does he have, like, a brother or a cousin? Someone who could give me some tips?"

The girls burst out laughing, and Sunday threw a pillow at him, her cheeks flushed from the mix of emotions. "You're hopeless," she said, shaking her head.

Later that night, after her sisters and Noah had left, Sunday found herself lying in bed, staring at the ceiling. Her phone buzzed on the nightstand, and she reached for it, her heart skipping a beat when she saw Lucifer's name.

my husband: You still up?

She smiled, her fingers moving quickly across the screen.

Sunday: Yeah. What's up?

His reply came almost instantly.

my husband: Just wanted to say goodnight.

Her smile widened, and she bit her lip, hesitating for a moment before typing her response.

Sunday: Goodnight, baby.

She hit send before she could overthink it, then set her phone down and buried her face in her hands. Calling him "baby" again felt bold, but she couldn't deny how natural it felt.

Her phone buzzed again, and she peeked at the screen.

my husband: Night, princess.

She fell asleep with a smile on her face, her heart feeling fuller than it had in a long time.
