Chapter 6 • Fools

A/N: chapter and title inspired by "Fools" by Troye Sivan. I fully intend on making this story a slow burn but there's some sort of reylo cuteness in this chapter <3

"Where are we going?"

"Keep your voice low, I don't need your whole neighborhood to know we are out here."

"Is this better?" Rey asked lowering her voice to a hushed whisper.

"Sure." He replied almost absentmindedly.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Just making sure we are in the right place."

Rey froze in her tracks, crossing her arms tight against her chest.

"What do you mean 'making sure'? I'm not here to get lost because of the likes of you."

"I'm just double checking, it's always good to make sure."

"Uh huh."

"Well are you coming or not?"

Reluctantly she let her arms fall to her sides before following him down the path.

"Would you mind telling me yet?"

"No."

She couldn't see his face due to it being almost pitch black outside, but Rey didn't have to look at him to know he was smirking.

"Why not?"

"Because."

"Because why not?"

"I don't want to ruin the surprise."

Rey soon stopped asking questions. The duo continued to walk farther on, choosing to remain in silence. Like there was anything to talk about anyway.

"We are here."

His voice had come out hoarse. Quiet, and barely a whisper.

"I see."

Rey stepped forward, eyes scanning the horizon.

"Where are we?"

"A place."

"Yeah like that's totally not too vague."

"I like to be mysterious."

Ren let out a small laugh before throwing something onto the ground.

"What was that?"

He choose not to answer, instead letting his back face her. She watched as Ren pulled out what looked to be a blanket from out the bad. He placed it carefully on the ground. Ren faced her.

"Lesson 2 is about to begin."

She didn't move, frozen in her place.

"Come over here. Sit."

He beckoned her over, eyes smiling. Rey walked over slowly, sitting on the blanket. She distanced herself from him, choosing to sit at the edge farther from him.

"Did I get sprayed by a skunk I didn't know about?"

"No..."

"Then come closer. I only have one book with me."

"I think I'm fine here."

"You don't have a choice."

He reached towards her, grabbing gently on her hand.

"I don't bite."

Rey didn't seem to find herself moving. In response Ren moved his hand farther, grabbing slightly at her waist.

"Do you want to do this."

"Sure but you should know I'm probably not going to end up liking Romeo and Juliet after this."

"We shall see Kenobi."

She moved towards him, still distancing herself slightly.

"Let's start with the prologue..."

He flipped to the first page, about to read. Rey interrupted him almost immediately.

"So we're just reading the book?"

"Sure...you'll just see."

"Okay."

His cleared his throat before starting the play.

Two households, both alike in dignity
(In fair Verona, where we lay our scene),
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents' strife.
The fearful passage of their death-marked love
And the continuance of their parents' rage,
Which, but their children's end, naught could remove,
Is now the two hours' traffic of our stage—
The which, if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

He spoke slow and careful. Glancing at Rey a few times to see if she was listening.

"I forgot how much I really hated this story, thanks for reminding me."

"I'm trying to teach you to appreciate it."

"Well is it working?" Rey smirked trying to hold back a yawn.

"Are you actually tired or just trying to mock me."

"Both."

She grinned.

"You know what? Let's call it a night. It's probably 2 by now or close to it...here."

He shoved his copy of Romeo and Juliet into her hands.

"What's this for."

"I want you to read Act 1 Scene 1."

"But isn't this your book?"

"I'll get it back tomorrow, just take it and read."

"But can't I do that in my book?"

Ren shook his head.

"I have some notes there, ones I suggest you read."

She nodded slightly, running her finger along the book's spine. Ren stepped up from the ground and offered a hand forward.

"May we go?"

"We shall."

•{•}•

"I guess we are here." Ren looked down for a moment. "Goodnight Rey."

"Goodnight!" She called out going up to climb the tree. He nodded before turning away to leave.

"Ren!"

"Yeah?"

"I-I had a good time tonight. It was relaxing I guess..." she laughed nervously.

"So you'd like to do it again?"

"Maybe...just don't throw a rock at my window, or I will hurt you."

"I don't make promises." He smirked.

Rey smirked back before finally reaching her window. Getting inside she poked her head back out, listening to Ren's voice once again.

"Parting is such sweet sorrow." He proclaimed to her, bowing down before turning around to leave.

Rey found herself grinning at the words from the play often overused by many.

Turning away, she sighed glancing at the book.

Act 1 Scene 1

She started to read.

A/N: a bit of a more longer and fluffier chapter than the others lol I hope you all enjoyed <3
